Chapter 49 - Ch. 49 - Ice and Fire Synchronization!

[Chapter filled with some magic bs, so turn off your brain cell and don't waste your time lecturing me about magic as if it exists in real life.]

The instant he heard those words, Henry's heart skipped a beat, his breath hitched, and his pupils dilated. In just a few mere words, Henry found himself staring at her unyielding eyes.

Slowly, Henry noticed that Elsa was leaning forward, her wide eyes turning into slits as he immediately understood her intention. So without hesitation, he did the same thing—he also leaned forward and puckered his lips on the front.

He might not have experience with kissing, but he's not gonna let this opportunity pass. May Zeus strike him if he did that.

Slowly but surely, their soft lips met. Henry's slightly rigid mouth met Elsa's supple one.

'Cold. But tasty nonetheless. It's like ice cream, is she doing this on purpose?' It was the first thing Henry noticed and it would be a lie to say he did not expect it.

Their kiss deepened as time went on, Elsa's previous anger at him dissipated under the sensuality of the kiss. In the middle, Henry tried to insert his tongue inside, asking her lips to part ways for passage. To his delirium, she allowed him, and the moment the tip of his tongue went past her teeth, he quickly assaulted her insides—his very own tongue personally delivering his saliva to hers.

At the same time, Henry found himself getting bold and lifted his hand to her face. First, he cupped her cheeks, feeling her skin tremble from his touch. And then after that, he slowly slid his hand down to her neck, caressing it to her nape.

Just as his hand was about to drift past her collarbone, Elsa suddenly seperated from the kiss, breathing heavily as she pressed her forehead against his.

"I…" There was guilt and hesitation on her face and Henry could understand why.

So he assured her, "It's okay. I understand. Let's take it slow, okay?"

Hearing that, there was relief that appeared on her face and she muttered a low, "Thank you…"

"You're welcome, my princess." Henry smiled softly and kissed her on the forehead before continuing with a question, "Are you still mad at me?"

She giggled and shook her head, "Not anymore."

"I can sense a 'but' coming."

"….But if you do something like that again, I'll get mad." She pouted and that prompted a laugh out of Henry.

"Alright, alright. I won't do it again, I promise." He even raised his left hand and gave his word.

Elsa gave him a satisfied smile and then a surprise kiss on the corner of his lips.

"Let's leave now. I still have something else to show you." Henry grabbed her hand and they started walking away from the place. Of course, Henry doesn't want to be tried for littering, he implicitly removed the stone chairs and table.

As they got back to Arendelle, Henry was already occupied in going over the plan with Elsa.

"An ice that doesn't melt? I'm not sure I can do that." Elsa scratched the back of her head in hesitation.

Henry shrugged, "Well, we can try now. All it takes is to imagine creating one and then we can see if it melts under my flames. If it doesn't, then we succeed, right?"

Elsa could only nod her head. Well, it's worth a try so they could proceed with the plan. She already agreed yesterday and she can't back out now due to petty reasons like this, besides, this is for her sake.

If she wants to get the trust of her own people, she must give a good first impression of herself with her ice powers. The rumors of her saving the Arendellian slaves were already spread and now they only need a catalyst.

"Come on, we can try it here, there's no one around." As soon as they arrived at the secluded alley right before the plaza, Henry eagerly encouraged her.

Elsa couldn't agree more and raised her hand while closing her eyes.

"The ice that doesn't melt…" She murmured to herself. Imagining what an ice that doesn't melt looks like and feels like.

"Resistant to flames and heat." She continued to mutter.

Meanwhile, to Henry's eyes, there was a reaction happening on the top of her palm. A snow-pattern ice was slowly forming—starting from the top to the bottom. It was cold, extremely cold that Henry found himself shivering just by being near it.

'What the hell is this?!' He asked no one but himself. Is Elsa about to accidentally cast an Absolute Zero ice?

"Elsa, what are you do—!?" Before he could finish his question, the air around him exploded into freezing cold that seemed to bite even the bone.

"Fuck!" He cursed under his breath, immediately casting flames that countered the cold. Albeit only a little.

'This can't do. She's going to kill everybody with this. Either she tones it down or we find something that will counter the cold.' Henry murmured to himself, Elsa still has her eyes closed, occupied by the thought of making an unmelting ice.

Coincidentally, Henry's eyes wandered to the flames he's holding. Even though they're not blue flames but still enough to deflect all of the snow-patterned ice's attempts to spread cold.

'If I could somehow apply this to her ice structures, preventing them from making an icy presence, then we can proceed with the plan.' With a murmur under his breath, he also closed his eyes the same way Elsa did. Now, they're both sitting on the ground, surrounded by darkness, rats, and garbage with their eyes closed and powers flickering on opposite sides.

On the left stood an icy cold snow-patterned ice that consistently emits an aura of pure coldness while on the other side emits the opposite, a pure wave of heatness that would've melted the surroundings if it weren't for the former.

Each side could've caused chaos and attracted attention but thanks to each other, nothing much is happening in their surroundings. From the outside perspective, it only seems as if they are just two people sitting on the ground with the only unusual thing about them being their unmistakable blue and red aura.

While Elsa had a snow-patterned ice on her palm, Henry had a flame-patterned symbol made of fire.

Together, they counter each other and it results in a statement in the atmosphere.

'Something like runes. I know what runes are, Master Elias mentioned it in a passing while Master Pabbie explained them to me.' Henry opened his eyes slightly until they turned into squints and stared at the symbol of flame atop his palm.

He wanted something that could stick to something and keep them warm indefinitely. But that would create another problem.

How would the flame rune sustain itself without him? It's either absorb the magic in the surroundings or absorb another source.

'Master Elias once told me that the complexities of the surrounding magic are produced by nature and something like that and how it's the hardest subject to study when it comes to magic. If someone like him can't still fully comprehend magic, who am I to know more than him?' Henry then discarded the thought of using the surrounding magic as a fuel source.

Perhaps, he can study them at another time when he's prepared for the aforementioned risks.

"Another source then…" Henry's eyes then shifted to the icy cold aura that Elsa was emitting.

'Hold on a second. Perhaps that could serve as a source?' It doesn't matter if Henry had a unique idea, it would be useless unless he tried it, 'I'll see if it's possible. It's only ice magic, the combination of wind and water magic.'

Scooting closer to Elsa, Henry could feel the unfamiliar Magic Hymn thumming out of her. It has a mix of Water Magic's hymn and Wind Magic's hymn. Very similar to Healing Magic containing familiar hymns of Earth and Water Magic.

Henry's hand was outstretched as if he were grabbing a material object out of the cold aura. But he stayed still, and the cold aura slowly coalesced into his palm.

At first, it didn't seem noticeable but as more numbing frost was gathered, it became more visible. However, despite it, the atmosphere didn't change one bit, confirming something that has plagued his mind.

"As I expected. Elsa just created an ice that can emit an infinite amount of ambient ice magic…" Henry couldn't help but click his tongue in jealousy.

What does this entail? Just this snow-patterned ice alone is enough to infinitely produce Ice Magic without a stop.

At the same time, Elsa was finally finished and there was a smile on her face as she opened her eyes, "Henry! I think I did it!"

However, she stopped when she noticed that he was busy, "Henry?"

"I think I'm close Elsa," Henry replied, a bead of sweat forming between his eyebrows as he was just about to attempt to slap the Flame Rune on the ice that she just made.

Without letting her ask, Henry explained to her about his intention.

There was a hint of horror in Elsa's eyes at the realization that the plan would've backfired if they outright attempted this with a crowd in the first place and then followed by relief when Henry assured her that there was a way to contain the coldness.

"Thank goodness you were beside me." Elsa shuddered just by thinking of the consequences. She truly wants to gain the affection of her people, not for malicious intentions but because she doesn't want to see them hate her for trying to help, all because of her ice powers.

The rumors might've helped kickstart the plan but it was this plan that would shape their view towards magic and especially, their Queen having one.

Henry grinned at her words, "Unfortunately, I only accept gratitude in another way."

Seeing the perverted grin on his face, Elsa pouted and pinched his thigh, "Pervert."

Putting their teasing aside, Henry shifted his entire focus to creating the Flame Rune. He's on the verge of finishing them and normally, it requires the caster to manually implant a definite amount of ambient magic from the surroundings inside the rune so it would sustain it depending on how much was implanted but Henry had other plans.

Since he wouldn't always be there to keep replenishing ambient magic on the rune, he needs to let it automatically absorb magic. However, ambient magic is troublesome and a complex subject, so Henry threw it out of the window.

The replacement? The ambient Ice Magic. Unlike ambient magic that has unknown effects in case he fails, the ambient Ice Magic only has a single effect.

What else but frost and freeze?

And if ever there was a failure at syncing both Henry's Flame Rune and Elsa's Eternal Ice Magic—at least Henry is capable enough to counter them thanks to his specialty in Flame Magic.

"I'll insert it now, Elsa. If you feel anything, tell me." Henry informed her, manipulating the Flame Rune to slowly hover towards the snow ice.

Elsa nodded her head, ready to vanquish her Eternal Ice magic in case of failure.

Schilk!

There was a wet sticky sound that graced their ears the moment the rune went into contact with the ice.

At first, there was silence minus the resounding combined heartbeats of Henry and Elsa. And when Henry noticed that their surroundings were getting hotter until they settled into normal temperature.

The frost-covered ground and walls behind Elsa slowly melted into a puddle.

"I think we did it…" Elsa murmured to herself, placing the snow-patterned ice on the ground, hearing a soft clanking sound similar to when a steel object came in contact with another solid object.

"It's a success." There was a smile on Henry's face, in just his first try, he was able to create his own Magic Rune, a flame element one.

Henry turned to Elsa, who also did the same to him, "Do you think you're ready to create the very first Amusement Park in the world?"

That's right. The entire plan all along consisted of Elsa, using her magic powers openly to create a place of fun and joy for the children and adults alike.

Something that has never been seen before in this world. Both Arendelle and Lioncrest will become the pioneers of it of course, Henry plans to make the same thing once he gets back in Lioncrest.

And there can only be one name that is perfect for it.

Disneyland.
