Chapter 271 - Tracking

"Lightning Bolt, Misfortune, Fire Wall, Bloodlust, Summon Fire Elemental—as long as you want to learn, I can teach you," Anveena said with a look of immense pride.

She truly felt powerful now. No matter the spell, she could master it with a single glance. Jaina had taught her several frost spells over the last two days; though she didn't have a natural affinity for them, she had still memorized and replicated them instantly.

"You mean those special Titan spells Rhodes taught you... you can now pass them to others just like Somra does?" Jaina's eyes widened in total disbelief.

"That's right, Sister Jaina. I'm not a normal living being; I'm the avatar of the Sunwell, pure magical energy given form. Plus, I'm still linked to the Well itself, so don't try to judge me by common logic," Anveena said with a wide grin. She finally realized that she wasn't just an ordinary girl; she was like the heroes of legend, possessing power far beyond the reach of mortals.

Others need decades to learn what I can master in a blink.

"Alright, I see. But... I might not be able to take it. Last time I tried to learn one of Rhodes's spells, my brain nearly exploded. I can only learn one every month or two, and even then, only Level 1 magic," Jaina said, shrugging helplessly.

"Don't worry, Sister Jaina! I've modified the technique. I can let you learn these spells without any side effects. Your head won't hurt at all," Anveena said with a reassuring smile.

In addition to the Holy Light, she had infused the transmission with life energy. Where did she get life energy? Well, she was a creation of the Sunwell brought to life by a Red Dragon—her "father"—using that very energy. Using it herself was second nature.

Vaguely, Anveena felt a faint connection to the entire planet—a pulse of energy that felt like a mother. A real mother. (The latest lore might be nonsense about Azeroth being a goddess captured from elsewhere, but in this world, we're sticking to the classic setting: Azeroth is a naturally born World Soul.)

"Oh... well, that's actually good news," Jaina said, her lip twitching slightly.

"Alright, Sister Jaina, get ready. I'm going to teach you the spell. This one is my improved version—it summons permanent elementals, though it's very mana-intensive. Normally, you should just summon one or two for battle." Anveena finished speaking and pressed her palm against the center of Jaina's brow.

One hour later, Jaina left the training grounds in a daze. She walked to where Rhodes and Kael'thas were drinking, sat down without a word, and downed a full cup of wine in one go.

Clearly, another genius had been "broken" today. Seeing the mage's expression, Rhodes knew she had been humbled. Sometimes, a genius needs to be reminded that monsters exist!

"Rhodes, you mentioned at the banquet that we could use Anveena to lure out Dar'Khan?" Kael'thas asked, setting down his glass.

Rhodes had previously suggested hunting Dar'Khan, but the traitor was elusive. With Anveena, however, the game changed. Dar'Khan was a Blood Elf mage obsessed with power; his betrayal to the Lich King was motivated solely by his greed for magical dominance.

Anveena, as the most potent magical entity in the world, was irresistible bait for a fallen mage like him. Kael'thas wanted to finalize the plan. If Anveena, acting as a Princess, could help capture or kill the man responsible for the fall of Silvermoon, her prestige would skyrocket, further cementing the Sunstrider dynasty's glory.

Plus, it would get the "monster" away from Kael'thas for a few days, giving him some peace. Let the rest of Azeroth see what a real monster looks like. Dar'Khan, you're in for a very bad day.

Rhodes nodded. "Correct. Dar'Khan's hunger for the Sunwell's power is etched into his bones. A paranoid traitor like him won't pass up a chance to seize a fragment of that power. As the avatar of the old essence with a link to the new well, Anveena is a 'treasure' he cannot resist. She's the perfect lure."

Anveena could currently out-magic 99% of the mages on Azeroth. In terms of raw mana intensity, she might even surpass a Guardian. Rhodes couldn't touch her in that department, let alone her learning speed. In a physical brawl, she could likely flatten 90% of Paladins and 99% of Warriors. She might look like a delicate girl, but she was a "Titan-level" powerhouse.

She was the ultimate hybrid: tanky, high damage, a great healer, and a massive DPS.

"With her strength and your personal involvement, it should be safe. But are you sure he'll come?" Kael'thas asked. "Anveena's true identity is a secret; publicly, she's just a Sunstrider Princess. Why would he target her specifically?"

"I have my ways. Don't you worry about that; I'll handle the setup. Once the mission is done, I'll take Anveena on a tour of Stormwind before we head to Kalimdor," Rhodes said with a smile.

How to lure him? Simple—Dar'Khan had likely already sensed her identity long ago.

"Then I'll leave it to you, Rhodes. I look forward to seeing that traitor's head," Kael'thas nodded.

The next morning, Rhodes met with Anveena again. This time, he accepted a "lesson" from her, successfully learning both the permanent and standard versions of Summon Fire Elemental. With his Expert Fire Magic, Rhodes could now summon over 70 permanent fire elementals or 30+ Light Elements daily.

Rhodes also tried to teach her the Level 5 spell Summon Earth Elemental he'd learned from the Necropolis. Without a scroll or a runic diagram, Anveena actually failed to learn it. This gave Rhodes a bit of mental peace—you might be a monster, but you still can't beat the guy with the actual system cheats.

After the lessons, Rhodes told her the plan.

"That's the situation, Anveena. What do you think? Would you like to come with me to hunt down the traitor Dar'Khan, and then travel with me to Stormwind and Kalimdor afterward?"

"I'd love to, Lord Rhodes! I really want to leave this place and help you fight evil enemies," Anveena replied happily. "To be honest, I don't really like living here. I prefer human-style stone and wood houses; this elven luxury is a bit too much for me."

"Excellent. Get ready and we'll head out. Oh, and when you summon fire elementals, remember you can infuse them with Holy Light. It costs more mana, but those Light Elements are much better against demons, undead, and shadow creatures," Rhodes reminded her.

That afternoon, Rhodes departed Quel'Thalas with Jaina, Anveena, and Finnall—the "Three Nanas."

They were riding Hawkstriders, a gift from Kael'thas. These specialized Blood Elf mounts were larger and sturdier than ostriches, perfect for carrying travelers swiftly. Watching them run, Rhodes couldn't help but think of the "Chocobos" from the Final Fantasy series. He reminisced about playing FFX on the PS2 and the FFVII remake. They were essentially the ultimate mounts: fast, agile, and they only cost a few carrots to refuel.

The party consisted of only the four of them; they didn't even take the ranger escort Kael'thas offered. Against a threat like Dar'Khan and his ragtag band of undead, this group was an absolute overkill. There wasn't much in Azeroth that could stand against this specific combination.
