Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Into The Darkness

Flynn was a young man working in construction to afford his upcoming hobby. He wanted to start playing the Warhammer 40k tabletop game and build a massive army.

Still, even though he was planning to start something new, he didn't give up on his old hobbies, like video games and anime. Flynn was about to start a new game: Hogwartz Legacy, but just as he was about to start the game after creating his character, he was teleported into the game as his new character.

He is now what's known as a transmagrator, too bad he wasn't around for the release of Steel Ball Run.

With time, he got used to his new life as a wizard in 1890, made friends, completed the story of the game, went out on adventures, and eventually finished school after three years. But just before leaving the castle to celebrate with his friends and peers, he was again teleported to another world. This time, one he knew even less about.

Now, after a good night's sleep in the R,O,R, and half a day of flying over the forests, rivers, and mountains with the occasional stop when Revelio caught something, he arrived at a lake with a small island in it. skipping it as he didnt have anything to do there, he later arrived in a dark forest. The trees were gray and black, and there was an ominous feeling of death. The sky was no better, filled with dark storm clouds that contrasted sharply with the clear skies around them, a clear sign of a magical anomaly. I'll go on foot, and by foot I mean that I'll ride LOTS.

Landing at the entrance to the forest, I switch Calgo with Lord of the shore (LOTS) and take the first step into the unknown dark path ahead of me.

As I enter, I immediately feel the unnatural cold silence that hangs in the air. The only light was the rays of sunlight that entered through the gaps in the trees where I entered, then a cluster of orange crystals that was growing from the ground like a sprouting bush, combusted into hot orange flames.

As soon as I entered the open path, the path behind me had closed up like a venus flytrap closing on its prey. As the sunlight faded, the burning crystal ceased its fiery outburst and started to glow a soft orange. I saw the ground, an ashen black, with some places where little orange crystals the size of pebbles protruded from beneath the abyssal earth, shedding little light and heat into the cold, lifeless surroundings.

LUMOS MAXIMA

After harvesting the crystals, Flynn created a stationary ball of light that lit up the surroundings, revealing dark worm-like roots and dark trees reflecting the light conjured by the magic, creating a silver sheen.

I drink a night vision potion and turn off the light. This place is dark. If someone lives here, I don't want to blind them and come off as an enemy, so we proceeded into the forest, with me occasionally casting Revilio to search for cool stuff, when we eventually heard fighting.

Getting a little closer, I could see a group of maybe eight humans wielding weapons, some of them made from the orange crystals I saw near the entrance of the forest. They were surrounded by around fifteen greyskinned ork-looking monsters, wearing an assortment of rusted old armor, wielding crude maces and axes.

The monsters seemed more cautious with the crystalline weapons than they were of the regular Wrought iron weapons.

Five of the humans were backed up against a large stone, holding up shields joined by long orange-tipped spears overlapping. making a phalanx-like formation and a stand off between them and the surrounding monsters, while the other three were wielding shields and short swords, two made from iron and one from crystal. They were fighting together against a smaller group of monsters, as the monsters were hit by the regular swords, their wounds would visibly regenerate, but when an opening was made for the guy wielding the orange sword to slice open the chest of an axe-wielding monster, the grey ork was immediately set ablaze. It ran back to its pack, crying. It turned to ash, which gave the human a boost in confidence and shook that of the orks.

That was when I joined the fight.

LOTS charged at the largest concentration of monsters, crashing headfirst into them and sending them flying.

With a flick of the wand, I turn two of them into explosives.

Descendo!

The monsters slammed into the ground, and not a second later, the explosive barrels did the same, exploding them into tiny bits. One of the humans said something in a language I didn't understand, and they charged at the remaining monsters with the spears, turning them to ash.

They spoke, and some of them went to finish off the monsters I blew up. The orange sword-wielding guy, apparently the leader of the group, turned to me and spoke that strange language that now, after a small use of legilimancy to "download" the language, I understood.

Thank you for the help, mister without you we could have lost a few good men and women today, but quickly we need to leave this area before more of them come.

What about them? said Flynn, pointing at the remains of the exploded monsters that were slowly regenerating.

They can only be killed by weapons made from sunstone, and we can't kill them if their bodies aren't full. Maybe if they only miss a limb or two, point is there has to be a main body in order to kill them.

Why can't they be killed in the normal ways? Why does only this sunstone thing work on them?

It's in the name, "sun" a long time ago, a rock fell from the sky carrying those monsters, and with it came a curse, an eternal night, the forest mutated becoming dark, a massive storm appeared above the forest blocking out the sun and bringing the flash of lightning and sound of thunder, the forest closed up, trapping us and the the monsters inside. on the day of the summer solstice the longest day of the year the gods show us mercy the edges of the forst open and the sun commes shining in sending reys of long forgoten reys of warm light, during thouse days a vein of sunstone grows at the opening of the world, we harvest the sunstone and forge it into weapons, only those weapons harboring the power of the sun can kill those vile beasts.

So sunlight can kill them, right?

Yes,

close your eyes

huh why-

Lumos Solem maximus!

Lumos maximus, a spell that creates a large stationary ball of light.

Lumos solem, a spell that creates a beam of sunlight from the tip of the user's wand

Those two spells, both based on the basic Lumos spell, are combined by Flynn into the spell Lumos solem maximus that creates a large stationary ball of golden sunlight.

Luckily, he did as he was told, as the extreme light washed over the forest blinding those who looked and burning away the remains of the monsters.

What the hell was that!?

Yelled one of the people behind as he was rubbing his eyes

sorry sorry he he

Flynn apologised with a chuckle and explained

Sorry, but your friend did say we didnt have time, then he wasted time overexplaining, although it was interesting information. Anyways, I am Flynn O'Taggart, a wandering wizard. It's nice to meet you.

A pleasure, I'm Marius

said the leader of the group as they shook hands.

Come on, we should get back to the village.

The village was located at the base of a hill, partially carved into it they had a few small farms and the houses looked like any generic medieval house made from wood and stone.

After sending his men away, Marius led me to a small plaza that connected a big house and a blacksmith's workshop, where he introduced me to the leader of the village.

Hey, Chief, we're back!

Ah Marius! How was it? Is everyone fine?

Yes, everyone is fine. We did run into some trouble, but thanks to our new friend here, no one was lost.

Is that so? Hi there, I am Talasa, the leader and blacksmith of this village. Thank you for helping my people.

No problem it was easy. I'm Flynn by the way, Flynn O'Taggart a wizard.

Later, after a discussion and a more thorough explanation of the situation, Flynn gave them some of the sunstone he found and asked for some of it to be made into a sword for him. Then he left to hunt the monsters. After three days of monster hunting, he came back to the village to collect his new sword and set out again and making it to the monster's base after about a week. A few days earlier, a monster had managed to escape and tell the rest about his ability to shoot sunlight at them sp they learned to cover themselves with thick cloths, so he had to start using the sword.

Later, he and the warriors of the village launched an attack on the enemy base. Under Flynn, Marius and his men had learned to fight under lumos solem maximus. So, with the "sun" high in the sky, they attacked the monsters and slaughtered those who escaped the "sun".

After that, Flynn found the meteor that brought the monsters and the curse to the forest, and he absorbed the excess ancient magic that created the curse. Then, with the sunrise that was now visible, the abandoned forest had once again opened to the world.
