Whilst the city of London lay in chaos due to the roots and the attacks of giants descending from the sky, all eyes were on two heroic figures who were attacking and fighting the giants without fear.
"Help! Anyone! Please help!" A man with dark brown hair shouted as he tried to lift a large, heavy slab of stone in front of him. "My cousin is trapped underneath!" He shouted as loudly as he could, hoping once more that someone would hear him.
But before anyone could come to his aid, he glanced to his side and saw a massive boulder hurtling towards him, followed by the giant's roar—still audible despite the considerable distance between them.
This memory still felt fresh in the man's mind, and upon discovering the mastermind behind the incident, rage flared within him. "God of Space, huh…" The man, named Romeo, muttered to himself.
The man was wearing a black T-shirt with a waistcoat and denim trousers; the sun was hotter than usual, making him want to hurry home, but his steps came to an abrupt halt. He spotted a girl who appeared to be only a year younger than him; she looked confused and was scanning her surroundings as if searching for a clue.
Romeo's feet moved of their own accord as he approached the girl. He could see her blonde hair styled in a tomboyish side-parting—a new hairstyle he'd never seen before. "Excuse me, you look confused. Is there anything I can help you with?" Meddling in other people's business was a hobby of this man's.
The girl lifted her head; their red and black eyes met—for a moment, time stood still; they stared at one another longer than they ought to have, and at that very moment Romeo's heart began to race as he gazed at the girl's face.
Neither of them blinked, as if they didn't want to waste even a fraction of a second; the girl was the first to come to her senses, and she shook her head, then tried to clear her thoughts.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to stare at you like that—I was just surprised that someone would suddenly offer to help," said the girl, glancing at Romeo, who was still standing there dumbfounded. "Are you all right?"
Romeo finally snapped out of his thoughts and immediately clutched his throat. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," he said awkwardly, avoiding eye contact. A long silence filled the air; the girl tilted her head for a moment before giving a little giggle.
"Are you going to help, then?" asked the girl, which immediately caught Romeo off guard, bringing him back to an upright stance like a guard standing sentry at a palace.
"O-Of course! I'm ready to help with anything," his heart was still pounding, simply from looking into her eyes—he'd never felt anything like this before.
"Have you ever seen a man with a long black beard called James?" the girl asked, and this immediately made Romeo's mind race through every person he'd ever met.
"No, but I can help you look for him!" he said with excessive enthusiasm; realising how he'd come across, he tried to compose himself before finally adding, "I'm actually looking for someone myself."
"Oh? Really? May I ask who?" the girl asked, and only then did Romeo realise that her left eye was covered by an eye patch, which was further concealed by her fringe.
Romeo paused for a moment before telling her. "I've never actually met her in person... But she is the twin of a friend of a friend of mine, and this friend of mine has asked me to help." Hearing this, the girl's eyebrows shot up, a mix of surprise and amusement at hearing Romeo sound a little stammering.
"You're a really kind man, aren't you?" the girl began, gazing down the sidewalk with a smile on her face. "You're looking for someone you don't even know; I don't think I could do something so noble."
Romeo's face flushed with embarrassment at the compliment. "I'm not that good, you know; everyone has their flaws, don't they?" He wanted to continue, but the words caught in his throat; he gathered his courage before finally adding, "I think you're a good person."
The girl gave a little laugh, and Romeo hadn't expected that to be her response. "Thank you. I don't hear that very often," she said, her sweet smile making Romeo's heart race even faster. "Do you know the name of the person you're looking for?"
Romeo paused for a moment to make sure he wouldn't get the name wrong, "Not exactly… but her twin's name is Redelle Woods." As soon as the name left his mouth, the girl gasped and was lost for words.
"Could you repeat the name?" the girl asked, as if she couldn't believe what she'd heard.
"Hm? Redelle Woods—do you know her?" Romeo asked. The girl didn't reply—she remained silent and turned her face away. At that moment, Romeo thought he'd said the wrong thing and needed to apologise straight away.
However, before an apology could escape his lips, the girl immediately replied, "I'm the one you're looking for," she said, a smile spreading across her face.
"Eh… EH?!" Romeo was utterly taken aback to hear this, as he'd managed to find her so quickly. "You're Red's twin?!" He still couldn't believe it.
The girl suddenly realised she'd forgotten to mention something important: "I haven't introduced myself, have I?" She then turned to face Romeo directly, tucking her hands behind her back. "My name is Juliet Alighieri! It's a pleasure to meet you."
Hearing that name, he was both impressed and surprised, and a question immediately sprang to his mind: "My name is Romeo Montague; it's lovely to meet you too." They simply gazed at one another for a moment before he added, "May I ask you something?"
"Of course!" Juliet replied enthusiastically.
Before he could apologise, the girl immediately interrupted him. "If you're Red's twin… why do you have different surnames?" asked Romeo, and upon hearing this, her enthusiastic smile turned to sadness. That sudden change startled Romeo—have I put my foot in it again?!—he thought.
"Our parents got divorced," Juliet began, gazing out at the road where cars were passing by. "I went with my father, whilst Red went with my mother… That's why,"
