A deep red flush spread across her cheeks, fingers tightened around the cool wooden frame of the window until her knuckles whitened.
'Together?'
The single word echoed in her mind again and again, stubborn and warm.
"Haha, I'm just joking, Lady Floryn—"
Before he could finish, Floryn leaned forward and caught his hand between both of hers. Her palms were soft, slightly damp, and surprisingly firm.
"I'll be waiting…" she whispered, the words low and certain. Then she turned and walked away, the white towel clinging to her body as she swayed gently with each step.
Daniel narrowed his eyes, watching her go. He clearly hadn't expected that answer. The thought of being caught together in the bathing pool flashed through his mind.

He closed the window, crossed the room, and laid down on the bed. The mattress dipped under his weight.
"Ghost," he murmured.
