Chapter 42
"No way… this has to be one of Naruto's tricks."
Even though Naruto's life in Konoha was terrible, he was still a huge pervert—he flirted with her and with Hinata too.
Sakyo refused to believe that Naruto was staying in the village just because of her.
While Sakyo was lost in her own fantasies, Naruto recovered the envelope that the Root ninja had been desperately trying to destroy.
The Root ninja's body hadn't even cooled yet, but Naruto felt an unusual chill.
These were living people… all turned into emotionless machines by Danzō's training.
So yeah—this pot had to be carried by Danzō…
As Naruto examined the envelope, he walked back toward Sakyo.
Suddenly, Sakyo spoke up with a random, unrelated sentence: "Is it really true, Naruto?"
Naruto looked up at her and saw that she seemed to be in some deeply grateful state. If he said yes right now, she might trust and cherish him even more.
But Naruto didn't like lying. He nodded and said: "Not completely."
There were still very important things he needed to do in Konoha.
Sakyo and Hinata were people he cared about deeply.
He also wanted to personally fix his terrible reputation in the village.
One day, he would make those villagers understand—he was a hero, not a monster.
Even more importantly, Danzō had to die. No debate.
If Naruto ever reached that level, killing Danzō would be his top priority.
The title "Konoha's Pot King" came from all the shameless, immoral things Danzō had done.
Sure, the original story tried to whitewash him.
But in Naruto's eyes—nope. No washing. Just impossible. Better to kill him and let him reincarnate than waste time fantasizing about redemption.
"Oh… okay."
Sakyo felt a little disappointed, but she understood.
She and Naruto were just classmates—close ones, sure.
Their relationship could become something more intimate at any time.
But they had never crossed that final line.
Noticing the envelope in Naruto's hand, Sakyo asked curiously: "What is that? Something from the ANBU?"
Naruto had skipped dinner and sleep in the middle of the night just to kill this ANBU and take this mission scroll.
No matter how you looked at it, something was off.
Why would Naruto suddenly do something like this?
Naruto didn't hide it from her. While flipping through it, he explained:
"This is a mission scroll… from Root."
"He wasn't ANBU—he was Root."
Sakyo looked confused. "Root?"
Naruto nodded: "Yeah."
Then he seriously warned her: "Little Sakyo, remember this—Root are parasites in Konoha. Sure, the village needs parasites like them for nutrients, but the harm outweighs the benefits."
"Our mutual enemies are Root… and Root's leader, Shimura Danzō."
Naruto rattled off a bunch of things Sakyo didn't fully understand, leaving her completely bewildered.
What did he mean?
Her enemy wasn't Uchiha Itachi?
How did it suddenly become Shimura Danzō?
Sakyo instinctively felt something was wrong. She asked Naruto: "What do you mean?"
Naruto didn't answer right away. He stared at the mission scroll in stunned silence, as if he had just discovered something shocking.
Inside the scroll were several photos of girls who looked almost exactly like Sakyo at the same age, plus several sheets of densely written paper.
The problem lay in those papers and photos.
This mission scroll was originally meant to be delivered to Uchiha Itachi!
