Chapter 8 - Duel

"I can already taste that evolutionary item," Kael chuckled to himself. "I've already done the hardest part, getting her to agree to come to my room. Now comes the easy part."

His mood had improved considerably. "Unfortunately, I'm still very weak, and the system didn't recognise Ana as a capture target, so only the MILFs will be rewarded."

Thinking about this, Kael clicked his tongue.

"Compared to MILFs, heroines are much easier to get. After all, each one is still quite weak compared to MILFs."

[Host, heroines are conquest targets. However, their rewards cannot be calculated. Basically, you will receive random rewards, although I can assure you that no reward is bad.]

Listening to the explanation of the system, Kael had an idea. "Since the protagonist will kill me in the future, how about making his harem have internal conflicts and not be completely loyal to him?"

A sinister smile appeared on his face. Make the heroines his, but not in heart, only in body.

"And depending on the heroines' personalities, after I have their bodies, no one else will."

The plan he had in mind became clearer and clearer.

"Hey," a voice interrupted his thoughts.

Without realising it, a crowd had gathered around him, and a young girl was standing right in front of him.

"Kamila Virkninges," Kael quickly remembered, seeing his sister.

He stared intently into her eyes. "Why are you interrupting me?"

She, on the other hand, looked at him with hatred and disgust. And after hearing his words, she became even more enraged.

"I want a challenge, a duel, you and I," she declared, her tone loud enough for everyone to hear.

...

Silence reigned throughout the hallway, to the point that one could hear a pin drop.

After all, everyone knew that Kamila was a fully-fledged intermediate magical swordswoman. She was basically at the highest level of the intermediate rank.

In contrast, they looked at Kael, who hadn't even entered the intermediate rank.

The difference was enormous.

"Fine, I accept," he replied bluntly, almost with a mocking smile on his lips.

"I was wondering how to approach a heroine, and just then one fell from the sky right in front of me," Kael could barely contain his laughter.

His sister was certainly one of the heroines of the novel, and in fact, one of the most important ones in the story.

"Being the wife of the man who killed your brother, that is despicable," he recalled, feeling somewhat unfair. "Well, fortunately she is my adoptive sister. We are not related by blood."

This was an important point in the story, because, according to Kael's memories, later on, the girl in front of him had parents who belonged to a powerful clan of swordsmen, the most powerful swords in the world, with a divine heritage.

"I must keep her," he decided, and looking at her, she was indeed a prize.

As the heroine of the novel, Kamila had an unmatched appearance: jet-black hair, deep eyes of the same colour, flawless white skin, and a youthful energy full of vitality. And her body was no slouch either, with practically perfect curves and a prominent butt, possibly due to her arduous training.

"In fact, this beauty will be even better in the future."

Unconsciously, he believed in future gains. It was a win in the present and a triumph in the future.

Hearing Kael quickly accept her duel, Kamila was surprised, but after a moment, a radiant smile of happiness lit up her face.

"Well, I hope you keep your word and that you at least have some dignity left." After uttering those words, Kamila turned to leave.

However...

"But you know what? Fighting without a bet is no fun," Kael commented casually.

Kamila stopped dead in her tracks. "What do you mean?"

Without realising it, she was slowly falling into the devil's trap.

Seeing that he had her attention, Kael continued with a smile. "A bet. If you win, you get something. If I win, I get something. It's that simple."

Listening attentively, Kamila spoke without hesitation. "Well, if I win, you will disappear from the Virkninges family. You will leave this house," she declared, causing the audience to hold their breath.

"Hmmm, okay," Kael shrugged.

In fact, he wasn't being disowned from his surname or family. Kamila's words basically meant that he wouldn't live in the same house as her, the Virkninges house.

"What if I win?" Kael asked, with an innocent expression.

Kamila waved her hand. "Ask for whatever you want," she said without concern. According to her, Kael didn't stand a chance, which was why she had quickly accepted the bet.

Kael smiled. "Okay, see you on the battlefield when..."

"In a week," Kamila finished.

Kael nodded, walking away.

Kamila didn't stay any longer either and left.

[New mission: Defeat Kamila, the heroine.

Reward: Copy a skill from Kamila]

Upon hearing about the new mission and reward, Kael's eyes lit up. "System, you truly are my soul brother."

However, upon thinking about it for a moment...

"Wait, why didn't you give me a reward when I signed the contract or something?" he asked.

[It wasn't that relevant or difficult. After all, the same thing happens in the original plot], explained the system.

"I see," Kael understood. "If I make big changes to the plot, I can get rewards to make myself more powerful, which is why saving Eleanor gave me a reward."

Kael now understood many more things.

Looking out the window, he didn't think much more about it, at least for now.

"Tonight I'll complete another mission," Kael stretched, anticipating that the night would be intense.
