Chapter 23 - Time Skip part 1

[Third Person POV]

Izuku got up out of the infirmary bed while staring down at his hands. For a moment he was confused as his hands seemed somewhat different although he couldn't place it.

He felt changed in a way that he couldn't place. Waking up somewhere he'd never been before was disorienting enough his body felt different.

Not uncomfortable though in fact it felt far more comfortable than before in a strange way. Almost like putting on a brand new pair of shoes only to find out they fit perfectly and they are much more comfortable than your previous ones.

Removing the sheet in front of him Izuku stepped into the rest of the infirmary only to see a white-haired woman typing away at a desk in front of him. After a quick check, it was clear nobody else was around and so he called out to her.

"Ah excuse me mam, where am I?" He could guess of course better to be sure.

"You're finally awake," The older woman spun around in her chair and smiled at him.

"What a strong young man you are, to already be standing after all that," She said quickly reaching a hand up to check his pulse.

"Umm yes, about that but how exactly did I get here?" Slightly leaning away but letting her keep her hand on his neck with a glance.

"Ah yes, All Might brought you in after you collapsed during training. You really are a lucky young man you know, to finally awaken your quirk at your age."

'So that's what he told them. I can work with that,' Izuku thought attempting not to show any change in expression.

"Right sorry but umm who are you?" He asked, her outfit looked familiar but for some odd reason he couldn't quite place her.

"Why I'm the head nurse here at UA High. I'm the Youthful heroine Recovery Girl!" The white-haired woman smiled and struck a pose in her chair.

"Oh, I see," Izuku smiled but it didn't reach his eyes.

"Umm where are my clothes and also my phone and stuff? I'd like to call my mom or All Might. They're probably worried sick," Izuku said trying to stand up only to stumble slightly. Recovery Girl approached him faster than he expected and steadied him.

"Whoa there young man you've been out for a whole day," She said helping him sit back down.

The hour passed, and after calling All Might and my mother to inform them I'm okay and awake. After that, I decided it was about time that I had a family meeting of sorts with All Might and my mom.

I also briefly met Nejire Hado on the way out. It was just the two of us saying hello and walking past each other but I thought it was worth talking about. She honestly didn't ask me any questions like I was expecting but man have I ever mentioned how much I love periwinkle blue.

And so after she left Izuku made his way home All Might was waiting for him outside. Approaching All Might in front of the building.

"So this is it then," Izuku said bouncing on his feet. He'd felt a strange lightness ever since he'd woken up fully and recovered from his nap. As if caffeine had been filling his veins but also causing him a faint form of anxiety.

"It seems so, are you sure about this young Midoriya," Toshinori asked. Izuku nodded firmly and turned to walk up towards the door. All Might started to follow him before Izuku stopped suddenly.

"Oh right umm so I'm sure that we can trust everyone that we're about to talk to but there are a few others that I'm not sure how much we should let them know but certainly need to." Izuku turned back to All Might and folded one arm across his chest rubbing his chin with the other.

"Like who?" All Might questioned raising a brow in curiosity.

"Hmmm," Izuku pondered the list a little while before answering. "Well for one thing Bang sensei already knows the truth right so that's one problem solved but some friends of mine will have lots of questions for me," Izuku said nodding his face scrunched in concentration trying to decipher all the possibilities.

"Like who?" All Might asked tilting his head slightly.

"Well there names are Katsumi Bakugo, Mashirao Ojiro, and Itsuka Kendo," Izuku listed all three counting them on his fingers.

"I see and what exactly do you want to tell them?"

"Well, I'm not exactly sure. I don't want to lie to them but maybe we should stick to the late bloomer quirk awakening story for now. Plus we're still planning to have me train with Gran Torino after this right?"

"Yes, keeping your friends in the dark is a shame but it's the price we must pay as heroes. As for the rest of it well stick to the plan for now. "

"Alright then,"

"Are you ready young Midoriya? Once we go down this path there is no going back,"

Walking up the stairs and opened the door to see his mother, Izumi, and Toga all waiting for him with differing degrees of nervous expressions Izuku let out a chuckle and his face settled into a small smile.

'It's seems the family nerves have passed to Toga as well.' Izuku thought as the initial shock of his new appearance wore off and the twin-bun girl along with the other two all rushed over to him in a hug.

Then came the waterworks.

Taking a deep breath I sat at our dining room table and sighed. Facing the three girls seated across from me, I threw a glance over at All Might on my right and Sensei Bang to my left.

"Alright now that everyone is here I'm sure you all have questions so let's see a few of them before you ask," I say glancing between the three of them. Inko looks the most worried while Izumi is nervous, and although she is anxious to know what happens Toga seems the calmest of the group.

"So what happened yesterday? I was training when I awakened a quirk."

The three of them all gasped simultaneously but I just raised a hand to cut them off. Then closing my eyes I focused the power humming beneath my skin in my hand but kept it entirely still. I wouldn't want to break anything while explaining.

White light shines from my arm and electric red and white veins blaze from it as emerald electricity crackles across my fingers. The three of them gaze at the aura with awe while the others look at me with interest.

The first difference I noticed in my quirk from canon was the fact that the lightning and the glow were actually visible to others and interacted with the world around me instead of just being a visual effect for the viewers like it was in the show.

"This quirk is not my own however," Opening my eyes I clenched my fist causing a small wave of force to echo through the room shocking the girls out of their collective awe once more.

The explanation continued to cover the fact that the yellow-haired man beside me was in fact All Might who transformed to show his true self. We told them how One For All was a quirk transferred from wielder to wielder and how thanks to his injury All Might's injury he decided to pass on the quirk to me.

Bang also butted in to admit that he had already known about the secret of One For All beforehand thanks to being close with its previous user but he didn't know I was chosen for it until yesterday.

Then the three started raining down the questions. First of course was why All Might had chosen me, something I myself was quite interested in even now. The reasoning had essentially boiled down to the fact that he truly believed that I had the strength of mind, heart, and character along with the will to succeed that I could carry the burden of One for All.

Then the lesser questions like how we met, how long we have been training together, and all the other unimportant things that didn't really matter as I was working my way up to the most important part. I also had to cut off Izumi's muttered ranting at least five times which was also exhausting.

"Mom there's more I needed to tell you," I folded my hands together carefully. I knew that this particular part was going to hurt her more than anything I've said so far.

"More? Izuku what could possibly-" She started to ask but I thought it best to just rip off the metaphorical band-aid.

"I'm leaving."

The words landed like a punch to the chest, I hadn't intended to sound so cold when I said it either but it just came out that way.

"WHAT!" The simultaneous shouts of Izumi and Toga make me flinch slightly, so I rush to curtail their outrage.

"There's someone else whose help I need to master my abilities and I need to leave as soon as I can. That being said I won't be leaving right away," An intentional glance towards Toga lets me know she catches my meaning. I've been feeding her my own blood regularly for months now. If I leave she may end up having an accident and to avoid that I'm going to need my sister's help.

After telling the others that I wouldn't be leaving for about a week, all I had to do was get rid of the awkward tension between us. So I started taking the time to complete everything on my to-do list.

First was sitting Izumi and Toga down and explaining to the emerald-haired girl what the actual situation was. So after a bit of convincing and a whole lot of questions getting answered. Himiko was now feeding off Izumi and that was one problem solved.

After that was introducing my friends to the idea that I had a quirk. So after shooting a few texts to them and setting up a time for them to come over privately I gave them the rundown.

I essentially told them the whole quirk awakening story. I could feel that Ojiro and Kendo were a tiny bit suspicious but they didn't ask too many questions about it. The real trial would be informing Katsumi which went about as well as could be expected.

Honestly I've been having a hard time writing this fic and have been having some serious block sorry it's so long between chapters. So I decided to just get this out of the way and start the next one. I'll try to update sooner next time but at the end of the day, I have lots of irl stuff going on right now so who knows.
