- Cai Rú Yī (蔡如一): Ru yi means "consistent". She is also known as: Yi'er, Young Lady Cai, Third Miss, Young Lady of the Inner Court.

- Lao- means "old"

- Xiao– means "little"

- 'Er– added to a person's name to show affection or familiarity

- A' — added to a person's name to show friendliness or familiarity.

- Zi shi: 11pm-1am

- Chou shi: 1-3am

- Yin shi: 3-5am

- Mao shi: 5-7am

Dressing

- Shashan: Gauze robe draped loosely over the shoulders. It can sometimes be tucked into the skirt.

- Qixiong Ruqun: A high-waisted dress where the skirt (qun) is tied above the chest, with the inner top (ru) tucked in. It usually has a long ribbon or band tying in front.

- Pibo: Draped silk scarf

- Yuanling pao: Round-collar robe typically worn by men.
