The end of another workday arrived quietly.
One by one, employees filtered out of Styles Industries.
Computers powered down.
Office lights dimmed.
The constant hum of productivity slowly gave way to the comfort of evening.
For Riley Styles and Stephanie Marlow, however, there was one part of the day that had quickly become a routine neither of them questioned anymore.
Going home together.
---
The city outside glowed beneath the soft orange hues of sunset as Riley's car merged smoothly into the evening traffic.
For a while, neither of them spoke.
It wasn't uncomfortable.
They had long grown accustomed to sharing silence.
Stephanie leaned slightly against the window, watching the passing streets.
Riley focused on driving.
Everything felt... normal.
Until Stephanie remembered something.
"...Riley?"
"Hm?"
"I forgot to tell you something."
He briefly glanced at her before returning his attention to the road.
"What is it?"
Stephanie hesitated.
"It's about Evelyn."
