The house is quiet, as expected, by the time we return.
That… quietness somehow adds to my unease. It's the kind of silence that leaves you longing to fill it. But there's nothing tangible to fill such silence with.
Alpha Aurelian says nothing when we enter the house. He simply walks past me toward the stairs with that same unreadable calm expression he always carries.
I hesitate at the bottom of the staircase for a moment, watching his back disappear down the hallway above.
