After finishing the preparations, we traveled to SHIELD headquarters in the Talaria. During the journey, Tony checked out the Talaria camper van and spoke up.
"This is nice. I didn't have time to look earlier, but I should ask Cassian for one later. It looks good for transporting the suit, and it's perfect for travel, right?"
Captain America and Fury nodded in agreement.
"Cassian seems to be good at making things like this."
"I'm tempted too. Who wouldn't want such a convenient mode of transportation?"
Hearing that, I figured I'd probably have to gift one to Tony after this was over. But I needed to think about whether to give one to Fury or not.
We secretly arrived near the mountain where the SHIELD headquarters was located, then walked in through a maintenance passage connected to SHIELD. Before entering the headquarters, Captain gave a final briefing on the plan.
"You got it, right? Expose Hydra within SHIELD, and each of us handles one Helicarrier."
"Got it, Cap."
"Okay, Cap."
"And Nick Fury and Maria Hill, quickly take control of the command center."
"Understood."
Captain also spoke to Tony via comms.
"Tony, you ready?"
"Yeah, I'm ready."
From then on, Fury and I split up. Captain, Sam, and Deadpool moved to secure the comms room. But when the SHIELD agents saw Captain, some didn't attack and even helped out. Thanks to that, they easily took over the comms room. Afterward, Captain announced over SHIELD's broadcast that Hydra had infiltrated the organization.
"All SHIELD agents, this is Steve Rogers. SHIELD isn't what we thought it was. Hydra has taken over, and Alexander Pierce is their leader. Strike Team and Insight agents, along with many others in SHIELD, are Hydra. The person next to you could be one of them. Their goal is simple: world domination. Launching the Helicarriers would only help Hydra eliminate obstacles. We have to stop it."
After the broadcast ended, gunfire echoed throughout SHIELD headquarters. It was the signal that Hydra and SHIELD agents had started shooting at each other.
"Sigh... Damn... I wonder how many casualties there'll be..."
Captain sighed in worry. Sam patted his shoulder to comfort him.
"They were probably prepared for something like this to some extent. And if we don't stop this, there'll be even greater casualties, so let's move quickly."
"Right."
Just then, Iron Man contacted them urgently.
"Uh... Steve, the lake at headquarters is opening up? Looks like they're launching the Helicarriers right away. I'll handle the agents outside and... Shit!"
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The Helicarriers started firing their turrets at Iron Man, who was flying around attacking Hydra agents. Iron Man quickly evaded with agile maneuvers.
"We need to move fast too!"
At Captain's signal, Deadpool and Falcon hurried out of headquarters and tried to head to their assigned Helicarriers. The Helicarriers were rising from the lake below, so timing a jump should allow them to board easily.
"Everyone knows this, but we have to change the chips on all three! If anything goes wrong, let me know quickly. I'll back you up."
"Got it, Cap."
After jumping onto their assigned Helicarriers, they began moving toward the central facility where they could swap the chips. Thanks to Iron Man's help, the Hydra agents on the deck had been somewhat cleared out, allowing for quick infiltration. However, since many Hydra agents had likely retreated inside the ships, it took time to fight through them.
Rat-tat-tat!
Dodging the Hydra agents' gunfire, Deadpool hid behind a wall and spoke.
"Aw, damn! There are too many of them, aren't there?"
"Throw what's in the left second pocket of your suit at the enemies! It's a flashbang!"
Hearing me, Deadpool quickly threw the square silver object from the left pocket at the enemies and hid again. As soon as a bright light flashed, Deadpool charged in, shooting and slashing with his katana. Deadpool's performance reminded me of a standout scene from Kill Bill. The funny thing was, Deadpool fought even more stylishly than in Kill Bill.
'For a moment, I thought Deadpool looked stylish... How ridiculous.'
Well, it made sense—Deadpool was now a blonde, well-built beauty, and seeing such a beauty fight acrobatically was enough to impress anyone. Except, he was still a guy.
Deadpool could fight like that because of the physical abilities he gained from his Healing Factor. Since muscles healed quickly even after intense exercise, he was naturally more capable than ordinary people. But he wasn't as strong as a Super Soldier—just a bit more powerful than average.
Thud! Crack! Thud!
"Gah!" "Keugh!" "Argh!"
After clearing out the Hydra agents to some extent, I displayed a graphic path to the Helicarrier's data center in Deadpool's field of vision. Thanks to that, he didn't get lost and quickly moved to swap the chip.
"Whew! Cap! I'm done!"
"Gah! I need some help. Winter Soldier (Bucky) is here."
After Deadpool finished his Helicarrier, the situation showed that Captain was still on his way to the data center, and Falcon seemed stuck with Winter Soldier. Once the Helicarrier decks were cleared, Iron Man, at Fury's request, entered headquarters to minimize SHIELD casualties and was suppressing Hydra based on the intel I provided.
"Sam, I can't get there. Break free and carry me so we can gang up on Winter Soldier on the deck."
"O-okay! Ganging up, huh..."
As Deadpool hurried out onto the deck, Sam flew over quickly, picked Deadpool up, and carried him to his assigned Helicarrier.
"Ooh~ This is the first time I've been held by so many men. It's thrilling, isn't it?"
"Shut your mouth!"
Falcon was also baffled by Deadpool's words. After moving to Falcon's Helicarrier, they started fighting Winter Soldier. Falcon flew around, spraying gunfire, while Deadpool swung his sword to confront Winter Soldier. But Winter Soldier, being an enhanced soldier, wasn't easy to handle. Bucky, as Winter Soldier, swiftly moved among the supplies on the deck, dodging bullets while fighting Deadpool.
Clang!
Deadpool blocked Winter Soldier's metal arm with his sword and spoke.
"Ugh! Damn, Elsa, you're too strong!"
Just then, Captain contacted them.
"Sam! I'm done here too! I'll back you up, give me a lift!"
"Got it!"
Falcon tried to move quickly to pick up Captain, but Winter Soldier fired a wire-attached weapon at Falcon's wing, hooking it and pulling to prevent Falcon from leaving the deck. Deadpool quickly threw a vibranium sword to cut the wire.
"Hurry back!"
"Okay! Hold on a bit."
Falcon flew off, leaving only Deadpool and Winter Soldier on the deck. Winter Soldier immediately rushed at Deadpool. Deadpool tried to find his sword quickly, but since he'd thrown it to cut the wire, it was rolling on the ground quite a distance away, and he had no time to retrieve it.
"Oh, shit! I think I'm screwed!"
Winter Soldier tried to kick Deadpool in the abdomen with a powerful strike, but Deadpool barely ducked and guarded with both arms.
Thud! Crack!
With the powerful kick, one of Deadpool's arms broke immediately, and he was sent flying back, crashing into a box of supplies.
Thump!
"Oof! Don't you know hitting bones is cheating!"
Deadpool yelled at Winter Soldier. Winter Soldier hadn't intentionally aimed for Deadpool's bones.
"Hey! For now, run away until Captain and Falcon join up."
"Damn! I want to, but he's too fast! He wasn't this strong originally! Wasn't he just a neighborhood thug?"
"Stop talking nonsense and use the flashbang quickly!"
Deadpool hurriedly took out a flashbang and threw it at the charging Winter Soldier.
Flash!
"Ugh!"
"Now, run!"
"Aah! My eyes!"
But instead of running away, Deadpool also got flashbanged and was rolling next to Winter Soldier. I was dumbfounded.
"You idiot! Why did you get hit too!"
"It was too close, damn it!"
Fortunately, thanks to his Healing Factor, Deadpool recovered faster. While Winter Soldier's vision was still impaired, Deadpool quickly rolled to dodge the attacks, got up, and hid among the supplies.
"Huff, huff, huff... Why aren't Falcon and Captain coming yet!?"
"They're on their way, just wait a bit."
Just then, Maria Hill contacted them.
"Five minutes left. Hurry up."
"What are you guys doing? Need my help?"
As Tony pressed, Captain spoke up.
"No, Sam went. I'll back up Eleanor."
"Yeah, hurry up and help me out. A beauty like me getting beaten up by a rough guy—you should definitely help!"
Tony sighed regretfully at that.
"She definitely is a beauty... but her mouth is the problem."
Hearing fighting sounds near where Deadpool was hiding, he peeked out and saw Captain finally arriving to back him up, fighting Winter Soldier. Seizing the opportunity, Deadpool picked up a sword and a rifle and aimed at Winter Soldier.
"Surrender, Elsa!"
At that, both of them paused their fight briefly.
"Elsa? Why do you keep calling me Elsa? Is my name Elsa?"
Captain urgently spoke to Winter Soldier.
"No! Your name is Bucky Barnes! James Buchanan Barnes! Eleanor, sorry, but let me handle Bucky."
"S-sure..."
They started fighting again, but Deadpool just sat on the deck, watching their battle. Then, Falcon contacted them.
"Swapped it."
Immediately, Maria Hill informed them that she had changed the Helicarriers' targets.
"Good! I'm changing the Helicarriers' targets to each other, so they'll start attacking one another. Get out before that!"
Regardless, Captain and Bucky didn't stop fighting. Deadpool cautiously spoke up to them.
"Hey, wouldn't it be better to stop?"
Captain, while fighting, said to Deadpool.
"Eleanor, evacuate first. I can't leave Bucky behind."
Just then, Falcon came out onto the deck and headed to where the fight was happening. Falcon tried to join in, but Deadpool grabbed his shoulder to stop him. Deadpool had some sense about these things.
"Sam! Take care of Eleanor!"
At Captain's request, Falcon picked Deadpool up and flew to the SHIELD headquarters rooftop. By then, the Helicarriers had started aiming their turrets at each other and firing.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Kaboom! Crash!
"Whoa~ It's quite a spectacle, huh?"
"Yeah... But will Captain be okay?"
Falcon and Deadpool watched the exploding Helicarriers and talked.
"He's a Super Soldier, so he should be fine."
"True... He's not someone who'd die easily here."
Just then, Tony contacted them too.
"I've taken care of all the Hydra agents inside headquarters. How's it going over there, pretty lady?"
"It's over here too."
As soon as he said that, the Helicarriers started losing altitude due to extensive damage. Probably, considering the previous Chitauri incident, safety technology had advanced significantly. That's why they didn't crash immediately.
After everything ended, while organizing with U.S. military support, they found Captain collapsed near the headquarters lake and rushed him to the hospital. Given his badly beaten face, it seemed like in the original story, he couldn't bring himself to attack Bucky and kept getting hit until he passed out, then fell into the lake when the Helicarriers crashed, and Bucky likely saved him.
Tony and I made a deal with SHIELD's council and Fury: we'd take responsibility for supporting agents who were sacrificed or left disabled and retired, in exchange for all of SHIELD's technology and equipment. That included Super Soldier-related tech. Without this, I would have tried to collect some of Captain's blood at the hospital, but now it wasn't necessary.
Plus, I agreed to take all three damaged Helicarriers, so they were currently being towed to Geumdam Island. In return, once repaired, one would go back to Fury for his use. Other useful items included the Quinjets and SHIELD agents; some followed Fury, some went to Damage Control, and I also selected trustworthy agents to join the hero business division. That included 'Sharon Carter', Peggy Carter's great-niece.
With that, SHIELD completely faded into history.
"It's over."
"Sure is. We worked hard this time, so hurry up and give me a fat bonus and turn me back into a man."
"Got it."
I was about to give Deadpool the medicine when something inside his body caught my eye with [Naked Eye].
"Huh??? What the hell is this!!!!"
"What? Something wrong?"
"Hey, you! You... you're pregnant!"
I was glad things turned out well this time, but Deadpool just had to cause trouble until the very end.
