Chapter 144 - Chapter 144: Marvel (MCU) 37

"What time will S.H.I.E.L.D. detect the tracking?"

I gave Deadpool the answer to Captain's question.

"About nine minutes?"

"Good, let's start."

At that, Deadpool plugged the USB into the laptop. I immediately began hacking. I could have hacked all the contents, but to keep the original plot intact, I decided to only provide the location information. So, I informed Deadpool of this fact.

"It's protected by an AI, so I can't open the files, but I can track where this was made."

"Where is it?"

Just then, perhaps because we had been using the computer for a long time, an employee came over and asked.

"Can I help you?"

Deadpool hugged Captain and said,

"No, we're planning a trip with my boyfriend. We were just choosing a destination."

"Ah, I see, that's nice. Where are you planning to go?"

I displayed the location information on the screen at the perfect timing.

"New Jersey."

"I see. Alright then. Have a pleasant trip."

After the employee left, I showed more precise location information. Captain looked surprised and stared at it. Deadpool asked him,

"Do you know where it is?"

"A long time ago... Anyway, it's been over nine minutes, let's go."

Captain and Deadpool grabbed the USB and started to move. But S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were visible all around, searching for Captain. I guided Deadpool with the agents' locations and a safe exit route. It seemed they could escape without incident if they just followed it.

However, Deadpool didn't move along the path I provided.

"Hey! Where are you going!"

In response to my question, Deadpool moved with Captain without saying a word. Captain, while moving, spotted S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and warned Deadpool.

"We have a tail. Two on the back line and opposite side... I'll handle them, so head underground and meet me at the Talaría outside."

"Shut up and put your arm around me, then laugh like it's nothing."

"What?"

"Hurry!"

Captain did as Deadpool said, putting his arm around her shoulder and pretending to laugh casually. The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents didn't notice and just passed by.

This time, while riding down the escalator, we saw Rumlow, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who was looking for us. Deadpool looked back at Captain behind her.

"Hey! Don't tell me..."

"Kiss me."

"What?"

"Quickly!"

Reluctantly, Captain embraced Deadpool and kissed her. I was dumbfounded. I had actually planned the route to avoid this situation, but Deadpool just went along with the original plot. Anyway, Rumlow glanced over and looked away, so it seemed he didn't notice and they got through. After that, they calmly walked out the main entrance of the department store and returned to the Talaría.

"Cap, you're not very good at kissing. You need to practice."

Captain scratched his head sheepishly and replied,

"Sorry, I haven't been in a relationship with a woman for very long... Anyway, let's move."

While moving, Captain turned on the TV to watch the news, and I confronted Deadpool.

"Why did you do that? If you had moved as I instructed, you could have escaped easily."

Deadpool, pretending to drive the Talaría, quietly answered,

"You said it's important to follow the original future, and I wanted to enjoy the spy movie moment too."

"Even so, what if Captain finds out later..."

"Well, we'll just keep it a secret."

"For crying out loud..."

Deadpool seemed to have no aversion to kissing a man, which was bewildering. Then again, she was the type who wanted to try being with a man now that she was a woman. I felt sorry for Captain, who was unknowingly involved. Thus, they arrived at an old military facility in New Jersey.

"Is this it?"

"Yes, the file was created here."

Captain looked around the facility and, as if lost in memories, told Deadpool,

"For me too... this is the military base where I received training."

This facility was where Captain trained before becoming the Super Soldier during the First Avenger era. Captain and Deadpool explored the facility. Then, they started to see S.H.I.E.L.D.'s old materials in the basement. Seeing this, Captain said,

"It seems S.H.I.E.L.D. started here."

As they looked around, they found traces of someone passing by and followed them deep inside. At an empty bookshelf, they saw that the dust trail was cut off, and Captain said,

"It ends here."

Deadpool stepped forward, grabbed the bookshelf, and pushed it sideways.

The bookcase creaked and clanked!

"Isn't this hiding spot too old-fashioned?"

Pushing the bookshelf revealed a modern door that looked recently installed, unlike its surroundings. Deadpool said,

"This part seems to be from a different era."

"It does."

Passing through the modern door and going inside, they saw a computer with several monitors that looked very old. The computer was such an ancient model that it seemed to use the entire room as its main unit. It was probably made shortly after World War II.

"Back to the ancient era again."

Captain also looked around in wonder and said,

"Was it really made here?"

"Seems like it."

Deadpool saw a USB port connected to the old computer and plugged in the USB. The old computer whirred to life, and the monitor in front of Captain turned on automatically. A low-quality image of a person with glasses appeared on the monitor, and a human voice flowed from the speaker.

"Steve Rogers, born 1918. Eleanor Camacho, no data found. Strange... there shouldn't be someone with no data like this."

"I'm a woman with many secrets, you see."

"Not really interested, miss."

Seeing this, Captain asked in surprise,

"Wasn't it a recording?"

"It's not a recording, Steve. I look completely different from when you captured me in 1945, but I still exist now."

Then, on the monitor next to the one showing the face, a photo of Dr. Arnim Zola appeared.

"Dr. Zola. I thought you were dead?"

"Wrong. Look around. I'm alive and well like this. After the war, S.H.I.E.L.D., which was founded, wanted my brilliant mind, so they recruited me, and even when my lifespan ended, they analyzed my brain, turned it into data, and implanted it into this computer."

"That's..."

"But I didn't just play along with S.H.I.E.L.D. I created a new HYDRA within S.H.I.E.L.D. Wonderful parasites grew inside S.H.I.E.L.D. Since then, for the past 70 years, HYDRA has secretly escalated global crises and caused wars. If history didn't cooperate, we even changed history itself."

"So HYDRA was ultimately controlling S.H.I.E.L.D. from behind."

"Correct. In the chaotic world created by HYDRA, humanity will sacrifice freedom for safety. Once the purification is complete, HYDRA will rule the world."

Captain, perhaps unable to listen any longer, punched the monitor and shattered it. But on the adjacent monitor, Dr. Zola's face appeared again and said to Captain,

"Useless effort. Didn't I tell you? I'm digitized."

"What's in this USB?"

"Project Insight required insight, so I created the algorithm."

"What does that algorithm do?"

"Unfortunately, you won't hear a fantastic answer to that question. You'll be dead soon."

As Dr. Zola's words ended, the door we came through began to close suddenly. Captain hurriedly threw his shield, but it was too late.

Thud!

"I stalled time by talking to you to buy time for the missile to fly here. You'll have to die with me for HYDRA, Captain."

Boom!!!

With those words, a loud explosion sound was heard, and the ceiling began to collapse. Captain quickly picked up Deadpool, jumped down into the 'crawl space', and blocked above with his shield.

Thump! Clang!

"Ugh!"

Captain blocked the enormous ceiling debris with his shield, protecting himself and Deadpool. After enduring for a while and when it calmed down, Captain and Deadpool came out of the crawl space and caught their breath.

"Eleanor, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm alive. After this is over, I'm getting a hefty reward from Cassian."

At that, Captain chuckled.

"Yeah, go ahead."

First, the two headed back to the Talaría camping car to wash their dusty bodies. But then, I got a call from Nick Fury.

"Cassian, see me. I can't tell you the location, so find it yourself. It's a dangerous situation, so I hope you understand."

"Got it. I'll be right there."

I quietly informed Deadpool of this fact.

"For that reason, I'll be away for a bit, so get along with Captain. Now it's just fighting, right?"

"That's my specialty anyway."

"Oh right! Don't forget Falcon."

"Got it."

I went to the bunker where Nick Fury was hiding. The location where Nick Fury was hiding was already being identified through Minerva, but even if it couldn't be identified, tracking his close associate 'Maria Hill' would make it easy to find.

Entering the bunker, Nick Fury was still under treatment, lying in bed, and Maria Hill was nursing him. Nick Fury started to confront me.

"You, you knew all this? Why didn't you tell us?"

"At that time, you didn't trust me. We were all busy being suspicious of each other; would you have believed me if I said such things? And besides, internal management is something you should handle yourselves. Why are you blaming me for it?"

"This is driving me crazy..."

Nick Fury touched his forehead as if he had a headache. I handed a thick document to him.

"What's this?"

"It's a list of the parasites inside. Information I gained from observing S.H.I.E.L.D. for a long time."

"So you were watching us after all."

"Of course. It's a group that could turn into an enemy at any time; I can't just sit back and take it."

Nick Fury glared at me and opened the document to examine each name. His expression changed to one of considerable surprise.

"This... it's more serious than I thought. From politicians to the military..."

"Nick Fury, it's pathetic that you didn't know until this cancer grew so big. I've separately categorized those who were brainwashed in the document. Handle it yourself."

"Sigh... my head hurts. Hill, get us something to drink, please."

Maria Hill served us tea. Normally, it would have been coffee, but since Nick Fury was still under treatment, she seemed to have served tea instead.

"What will you do now?"

"We have to stop Project Insight first. You'll help, right?"

Nick Fury asked for help, but I immediately refused.

"Sorry, but I have a lot of other things to do besides this. I hope you're satisfied with that document and handle it yourself."

"What! What are these 'other things'? Do you think there's something more important than this now?"

"There is. What I'm doing is more important. And it's a secret."

When I said this without a hint of hesitation, Nick Fury was dumbfounded.

"I'm going insane..."

"I'll be going now."

"Wait, if you're busy, I'd appreciate it if you could support the company members. Except for that friend Deadpool."

Nick Fury didn't like Deadpool either. But Deadpool was already being supported. I wondered what his reaction would be if he knew that fact.

"Alright. I'll support them. But in return, you handle the bonuses for the supporting members."

"Deal."

I left the bunker and asked Minerva if there were any members resting at the company.

"None. They've all gone on business trips for underworld work."

"Really? What about Tony?"

"He's at Stark Tower in New York."

"I see."

I went directly to Tony. Explained everything that had happened so far.

"God damn it! Is that true?"

"Yes, so we need someone to support Captain."

"I see. Then I'll go see that Nick Fury fellow."

"Good, the location is..."

I thought this much would be enough. I returned to the lab and checked on Deadpool's status. Deadpool and Captain were talking at Sam's (Falcon's) house.

"So, you're saying that Jasper Sitwell, the S.H.I.E.L.D. executive who was a hostage on the ship, would know about this?"

"Yeah, so we need to catch that baldy and interrogate him."

"But how do we kidnap a S.H.I.E.L.D. executive in broad daylight? We're both already wanted."

Then Sam placed some files on the table and said,

"Simple, use me."

"What's this?"

"My resume, so to speak?"

Captain and Deadpool examined the files he called a resume.

"Oh~ Welcome aboard~"

"Eleanor, wait, we can't ask this of Sam. He left because he was sick of war."

Then Sam said,

"Helping Captain America is reason enough to come back."

Surprisingly, even without my guidance, things were progressing well.

'Even with Deadpool involved, it's going smoothly? Unexpected. Did I not trust Deadpool enough?'

For now, I trusted them and used instant teleportation to go to Wakanda to check the situation briefly, but the city was in disarray. I asked a guard nearby what was going on.

"Well, you see, some thief stole a vibranium ingot and ran off, so it's chaos now. They call that thief... oh! 'Star Prince', I think?"

"What???"
