Chapter 4 - Kora II

[Host, now that the mission is complete, you will be teleported back to your original position.]

[Teleporting in 5… 4…]

"Damn it—gimme time!" Matt cursed quietly.

Kora looked up at him, confused.

"Did… something happen?" she asked.

Matt hesitated, then smiled softly.

"No," he said. "But… I might be gone soon."

Before she could ask anything—

Matt leaned down and kissed her.

It was light and quick.

But a second later, Kora grabbed him by the collar—

—and kissed him again, harder this time.

This one lasted longer.

[…3… 2…]

Matt felt his body beginning to glow.

Kora kept kissing him eyes closed.

[…1…]

In a flash of light—

Matt vanished from the room.

The next moment, Matt found himself back in his bed.

His room.

His timeline.

[Congratulations, Host. You are back—]

The System suddenly stopped.

Matt's brain lagged.

Because—

He was still kissing someone.

Warm lips.

Soft breath.

Someone very real.

The only problem?

She was not supposed to be here.

Matt slowly opened his eyes.

'…System,' he asked carefully, while still holding Kora and kissing her.

'Why is Kora in my room?'

The System paused.

[…]

Something had clearly gone very wrong.

After a few seconds, Kora finally pulled back from the kiss. She looked at Matt seriously.

"Thank you, Matt," she said softly.

"You were there when I thought there was no one who understood me."

She lowered her head.

"If it wasn't for you… I might not be alive right now."

Matt felt his chest tighten.

Then she looked up again and said, very directly,

"So… will you date me?"

Matt froze.

He cleared his throat and gave an awkward cough.

"Uh—before that," he said quickly, "I think there's a problem here."

Kora tilted her head.

"What problem?"

"Look around," Matt said.

Kora slowly moved her gaze away from him and looked around the room.

The bed.

The walls.

The furniture.

"where are we?" She asked.

"We got teleported in my room" He said as she nodded still looking around.

Then her eyes landed on the calendar hanging on the wall.

She squinted at it.

"2010…?" she murmured.

"…I didn't know they printed calendars this far into the future."

Matt winced.

"That's because," he said carefully, "this isn't the future for me."

She looked back at him.

"What do you mean?"

Matt took a breath and explained slowly.

"My powers messed up," he said.

"They sent me back to the 1980s, where I landed on you, crash landed on you. That was your present and for me the past."

Kora listened, confused but silent.

"And I was supposed to come back to my own time—2010—after my powers acted again," Matt continued.

"But while we were kissing…"

He spread his hands helplessly.

"…both of us came back here instead."

Kora's eyes widened.

"So this is…?"

"My present," Matt said.

"And your future."

The room went silent.

Kora sat down slowly on the bed.

"…So I shouldn't even be here," she whispered.

Matt rubbed his face.

"Yeah," he sighed. "That's the problem."

Kora stayed quiet for a moment.

Then she looked up at him again.

"…Does that mean you're rejecting me?" she asked.

Matt blinked.

"What? No—that's not what I meant!"

She stared at him.

"Good," she said firmly.

Then she stood up.

"Because I don't care what year this is," Kora said.

"You saved my life."

She met his eyes.

"So I'm staying with you until someone explains how I'm supposed to go back."

A notification appeared in Matt's mind.

[Kora's affection toward you has reached 100%.]

[ Host although I don't have achievement notification but if it was I would have notified you congratulations host on unlocking the yandere lover ]

Matt's lips twitched when he saw the System's response.

"Okay… you can stay here," he said."But what am I going to tell my uncle? He doesn't know I have powers—and I want to keep it that way."

Kora looked at him.

"Why?" she asked.

Matt shrugged.

"Maybe because I don't want to be seen as weird among normal humans."

Kora raised an eyebrow.

"So… am I weird then?" she asked, looking straight at him.

Matt leaned closer and whispered with a grin,

"Yeah. We both are. But you're my weirdo."

Kora laughed and leaned in, kissing him back.

Just then—

"Matt, I brought some medicine—"

The door suddenly opened.

Phil Coulson stood there.

Frozen.

Staring at Matt sitting on the bed—

—with a girl in his lap—

—both of them kissing.

Silence filled the room.

"…Sorry to disturb," Coulson said calmly.

He slowly closed the door.

Matt stared blankly at the wall.

What the hell just happened? he thought.

Wasn't he already gone? Why did he come back?

And why did he open the door at the exact moment we were kissing?!

On the other side of the door—

Coulson paused.

"…I need more coffee," he muttered.

Inside the room, Matt buried his face in his hands.

"Now he'll think I pretended to be sick just so I could make out with my girlfriend," Matt groaned.

Kora smiled when she heard him call her his girlfriend.

"Aren't you going to introduce me?" she asked playfully.

Matt looked up—and immediately panicked again.

My uncle is a spy, Matt thought. If I introduce her properly, his paranoia will kick in. He'll investigate her background… and find nothing.

No records.

No history.

Because she literally shouldn't exist in this time.

That was bad.Very bad.

Matt's brain started working at full speed.

He coughed and whispered to Kora,

"Just… follow my lead, okay?"

Kora tilted her head.

"You're overthinking," she said softly. "But sure."

Before Matt could say more—

Knock. Knock.

"Matt?" Coulson's voice came from outside the door."Can I come in?"

Matt froze.

"…One second!" he called out.

He turned to Kora quickly.

"Whatever happens," he whispered,"don't mention powers, other timelines, or portals."

Kora nodded seriously.

"Got it."

Matt took a deep breath and stood up.

"Okay," he muttered to himself."Time for the biggest lie of my life."

"Come in, Uncle," Matt said.

The door handle turned.

And Phil Coulson stepped inside.

His eyes immediately went to Kora, who was now sitting properly on the side of the bed instead of in Matt's lap.

Phil smiled apologetically.

"Sorry about earlier," he said calmly. "Matt didn't tell me he had a girlfriend."

Kora stood up politely.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Coulson," she said.

Phil waved a hand with an easy smile.

"Oh, please—just Uncle Phil is fine."

Inside, Phil felt a strange mix of relief and pride.

Huh…So the kid finally has a social life.
