Chapter 36 - The final fight begins now

Smoke crawled along the ceiling like a living thing.

The corridor was barely standing now—walls cracked, lights flickering, sparks raining down in short, angry bursts. The smell of gunpowder mixed with burned flesh hung thick enough to taste.

Nobita stood at the front.

Two M1887 shotguns rested in his hands, wood grips stained dark, barrels still warm. His breathing was steady—too steady for someone surrounded by corpses.

Behind him, the others regrouped.

Gian wiped blood from his cheek. "Tell me… that's the last of them."

Suneo checked his pulse blaster, hands shaking slightly. "I-I don't hear anything."

Shizuka didn't answer. Her eyes were fixed on Nobita.

He hadn't turned around yet.

Slowly, Nobita lifted his head.

"…They're still alive," he said.

The system pulsed faintly in his vision.

HUNTER MODE: ACTIVE

THREAT SIGNATURES — MULTIPLE

The floor thudded.

Once.

Twice.

Then—

The wall at the far end exploded inward.

Concrete tore apart as something massive forced its way through. A J'avo burst out first, mutated arm swollen like a tumor, bones exposed and moving under the skin.

More followed.

Dozens.

Some crawled along walls, limbs bent wrong. Others dragged heavy weapons fused into their bodies.

Leon muttered, "…This just keeps getting worse."

Then...

The first J'avo screamed and charged.

Nobita moved.

Not forward—

Through.

He vanished in a white-black flash.

Nobita is behind the j'avo

The first shotgun roared.

BOOM—!

A J'avo's upper body ceased to exist, splattering the wall behind it. Nobita pivoted mid-motion, firing the second shotgun backward without looking.

Another BOOM—!

A creature dropped, legs still running for half a second before collapsing.

Gian shouted, "HOLY—!"

Three J'avo leapt at once.

Nobita's eyes flared.

SHOCKWAVE EYE

The air detonated.

An invisible force slammed outward from his gaze, freezing the attackers mid-air like insects trapped in amber. Their bodies locked, muscles twitching uselessly.

Nobita stepped forward calmly.

Click—clack.

One by one, he pulled the triggers.

Bodies hit the floor like sacks of meat.

Suneo stared. "He's… he's controlling the battlefield."

Another wave surged from the stairwell.

Too many.

Too fast.

Nobita extended his left hand.

COMMANDER TOUCH

The space around the enemies bent.

J'avo screamed as invisible hands crushed them mid-run, slamming them into walls, ceilings, each other. Bones snapped loudly. Blood sprayed.

Nobita clenched his fist.

All of them collapsed at once.

Silence.

Heavy.

Broken only by crackling fire and distant alarms.

Shizuka finally exhaled. "…Nobita."

He turned.

His eyes were calm—but darker than before.

"We can't stay," he said. "This building won't hold."

As if answering him—

The entire structure shuddered violently.

From the tablet, a hacker yelled, "Chris! We're almost through! Thirty seconds!"

Chris nodded sharply. "Finish it. Now."

Then—

BANG! BANG!

Two gunshots.

The screen shook violently.

The hackers collapsed out of frame.

Blood splashed across the camera.

"WHAT—?!" Chris shouted.

A woman stepped into view.

Blonde.

Calm.

Smiling faintly.

Dr. Carla Radames.

Behind her—armed terrorists, weapons raised.

Carla tilted her head. "You really think neo Umbrella would leave its heart unguarded?"

Leon cursed. "That bitch—!"

Carla raised her pistol toward the camera.

The feed cut.

Static.

Then—nothing.

At the same moment—

A deep, metallic groan echoed through the building.

Dekisugi's device screamed. "Structural failure! Load-bearing columns are collapsing!"

The floor cracked open.

Walls began to peel apart.

Gian grabbed Suneo. "MOVE!"

A massive explosion tore through the lower levels.

The building started to collapse inward.

Chris's voice came back through the comm in tablet preparing for helicopter backup. "All units—evacuate immediately! Helicopters inbound!"

Debris rained down.

The stairwell ahead collapsed completely, sealing their escape.

Shizuka coughed. "The stairs—! We're trapped!"

Doraemon's eyes widened. "…Then we go up, for helicopter!!."

He pulled out the Anywhere Door.

The door slammed open.

"Everyone—NOW!"

They didn't hesitate.

One by one, they dove through.

The world flipped.

Wind howled.

They emerged—

On the top floor.

The roof.

Night sky stretched above them, choked with smoke and drifting embers.

Rotors thundered nearby.

BSAA helicopters hovered beside the shattered building, doors open.

Chris's voice barked through the comm. "We've got visual! Move!"

They ran.

Jumped.

Hands grabbed them, pulling them into safety.

Gian collapsed inside the helicopter, panting. "We… we made it…"

Suneo laughed shakily. "I'm never mocking monsters again."

Shizuka turned—

"…Nobita?"

He hadn't boarded yet.

Nobita stood at the edge of the roof.

Still.

The wind tore at his clothes.

His system screamed warnings—

THREAT LEVEL: EXTREME

HOSTILE ENTITY — ABOVE

Slowly—

A giant climbing in the building.

The air pressure changed.

A low, buzzing hum filled the sky.

Everyone looked up.

The clouds parted.

And something descended.

Gigantic.

Monstrous.

Wings like rotting aircraft blades.

A swollen, distorted body covered in chitin and eye in red compound eyes, dozens of them, glowing sickly yellow.

The Mega Fly.

Simmons.

The helicopters wobbled violently but not still taken off.

Pilots shouted in panic.

Chris whispered, "…Dear god."

The creature landed on the roof opposite Nobita.

The concrete cracked under its weight.

Its massive head tilted.

All its compound eyes rotated—

And locked onto one person.

Nobita.

Only Nobita.

Simmons' laughter echoed—deep, layered, inhuman.

"So… you're the one."

Nobita didn't move.

He slowly lowered one shotgun.

The other—

He raised it.

Voidfang pulsed at his side.

Black-and-white lightning crawled from the blade, wrapping around his arm.

"…Everyone," Nobita said calmly into the comm, "get clear."

Shizuka shouted, "Nobita, don't—!"

He placed Voidfang against the shotgun barrel.

The weapon screamed.

Metal warped, glowing as void energy fused into it.

Lightning exploded outward, ripping chunks of concrete free.

The sky cracked with thunder.

Simmons spread his wings wide.

"Come," he roared. "Rewrite fate for me."

Nobita's eyes burned.

White.

Black.

Perfectly still.

He pulled the lever.

The shotgun glowed like a dying star.

And the world held its breath.
