Chapter 10 - Door Upgrade Blueprint

Rover looked at the card in his hand, pondered for a moment, then put it away in his backpack. Any mysterious item always had an enormous use; that was the conclusion he had reached after playing through countless games.

Even if it was useless now, it would definitely be useful later. Besides, it was just a small card; keeping it in his backpack would not take up any space.

Rover hurriedly used the [Reclaim] function on the three zombie corpses, gaining another 9 Omni Points, then left that young man's room and returned to his own.

He had just stepped out of the room when he was startled to see a group of four people rushing up to this floor as well.

Seeing Rover holding a gun and the room behind him covered in blood, they froze in shock.

"Agh! Y-you killed him?"

"He has a gun! Quick, fall back."

"Boss, protect me a bit, I will definitely repay you."

"No. Hand the gun over to me. Hurry."

There were four of them, three men and one woman. The other three were begging him for help, but the man with tattoos covering one arm, a shaved head, and a black sleeveless T-shirt was the only one yelling at him.

"It's dangerous for you to hold that gun. That kind of thing should only be handled by a professional like me," the bald man said with a frown, looking as if he would snatch it the moment Rover refused to hand it over.

Rover frowned. "This is my gun. Why should I give it to you?"

Hearing that, the bald man let out a scornful laugh. "Just looking at you, I can tell you've never had proper training. If you hold the gun, you'll only waste bullets."

"That's right, hurry up and give the gun to Nick. He... he has learned how to shoot before," the woman in the group spoke up.

"Hurry up. Give the gun to Nick, he'll protect you. You can't do anything with it anyway. Look, that person in the room definitely died because you accidentally shot him, right?"

"What's the point of talking nonsense with him? Everyone, rush him and grab his gun."

Rover let out a contemptuous laugh, then suddenly...

"Shit!"

The bald man saw the razor-sharp look in Rover's eyes, seemed to realize something, and immediately ducked his head and dove to the side.

BANG!

"AGH!"

Right after that, Rover pulled the trigger, but the bald man's reflexes were too quick. He had already dodged to the side the moment Rover moved.

The young man standing behind him was shot in the chest, spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, staggered back two steps, then collapsed onto the floor. Even in death, his eyes were wide open, filled with disbelief.

The group fell silent for a few seconds, then...

"Agh! He's... he's a murderer!"

"Run! He's gone crazy!"

"Nick! Wait for me, don't run!"

Nick had already taken off running, and the other two hurriedly chased after him up to the next floor.

Rover glanced at the young man's corpse. There were a few silver coins beside him, and of course Rover was not going to leave them behind.

After he was done, he stood still in front of the door, feeling that something was off, and looked toward the room at the end of the corridor.

Over there, a zombie was still pounding on the room door, as if something inside was attracting it.

'Strange… if it heard the gunshots, it should have run over here, so why is it attacking that room instead?'

Rover frowned, thought for a moment, then walked toward that zombie.

The distance between him and the zombie grew shorter and shorter.

6 meters…

5 meters…

3 meters…

1 meter…

Rover cautiously raised his gun, the muzzle aimed straight at the zombie's head, but it did not seem to notice his existence at all.

He frowned and shouted softly, "Hey!"

The sound was not loud, but in this quiet corridor it rang out quite sharply. However…

BAM! BAM!

The zombie just kept slamming its head against the wooden door of the room in front of it.

Seeing that, Rover's courage swelled. He moved closer, his voice louder this time. "Hey!"

At that moment, the zombie turned its head and looked at Rover.

He was startled too and took a step back. But the zombie only glanced at him for a moment, then went back to smashing the door.

Rover frowned. It felt like he had sensed something strange, but he did not want to keep experimenting. He pulled the trigger.

DANG!

The distance was too close; the bullet pierced straight through the zombie's head.

Rover [Reclaimed] its corpse, gaining another 3 Omni Points and a few silver coins, then turned to leave.

But right then, the door that the zombie had been battering swung open a crack.

Crack!

In that narrow gap, Rover saw a rather youthful yet very beautiful face, with shoulder-length black hair and rosy lips brimming with youthful life. Her eyes sparkled like twin crystals, drawing his gaze in.

[Name: ???]

[Role: Room Owner 2701]

[Appearance: 86]

[Affection: 87%]

"Th-thank you," the girl said softly, her voice still trembling with fear.

Rover glanced at the information panel in front of him, then looked back at her and frowned as he asked, "Do you want to become my 'Tenant'?"

"Ah!" The girl jolted, her face flushing red as she struggled to find a response.

Rover did not force her. He shook his head and said, "When you've thought it through, come find me. I'm in room 2705."

With that, he turned around and walked back toward his room. After all, the game had only just begun; many people still had not realized how dangerous and terrifying this damned game really was.

When that time came, if he was strong enough, countless beauties would be fighting each other just to secure a spot in his room.

Watching Rover decisively turn and leave, the girl grew a little anxious and quickly called out, "I am… I am Chisaki. Y-you… what is your name?"

"Rover!"

He did not turn back, hurried into the room, then closed the door.

At that moment, Nanoe was giving him that strange smile again, which left him a bit puzzled.

"What are you smiling about?"

Nanoe tilted her head and asked, "Is that girl very pretty?"

Rover did not hide anything and nodded. "Yes, she is quite pretty, about twenty years old."

"Do you need me to help you?"

Hearing Nanoe say that, Rover was a little confused. "You are not jealous?"

Nanoe snorted with laughter. "Hahaha… after everything I have been through, I can no longer feel jealous. As long as you give me a place in your heart and get me pregnant, that is enough."

"Besides, with the way things are now, do I have any right to be jealous? There is no law here; the strong are the law. Rover, you and I are both adults, not children anymore, and we no longer dream of being heroes who save the world."

Hearing that, Rover nodded and said, "There is no need to rush."

With that, he sat down on the bed and began to tally his gains. Nanoe sat beside him, resting her head on his shoulder, her movements incredibly gentle.

Rover wrapped an arm around Nanoe's waist, but did not go any further. After all, there were still zombies outside, and as long as he was alive, he would have plenty of time to "have fun" with her.

'Right now, I still have 21 Omni Points, 213 silver coins, 1 Nine of Hearts card, 1 scroll, 10 units of wood, one vial of Zombie Virus solution, and some food. My gun only has 8 bullets left.'

He used his thoughts to open the scroll, and an information panel appeared in front of him.

[Main Door Upgrade Blueprint]

[Type: Blueprint]

[Required materials: 30 units of wood, 100 silver coins]

[Upgrade: 30 Omni Points.]

[Description: Mandatory item required to upgrade the main door]

Just that short line of description was enough to make Rover jolt. He immediately looked toward his room's door and opened its information panel.

[Reinforced Wooden Door]

[Type: Structure]

[Level: 2]

[Defense: 20]

[Durability: 50/50]

[Upgrade: 250 Omni Points.]

'There is no blueprint or wood requirement. Could it be…' Rover thought to himself, 'With an SSS-class, I can upgrade everything as long as I have enough Omni Points. But for other people, they must gather enough materials and even blueprints before they can upgrade anything.'

He felt extremely excited. That meant the path he had to walk would be far easier and shorter than everyone else's by many times over.

Besides, he could sell this blueprint to earn more game currency, which he could then use to buy or trade for other items he needed.

At that moment, he frowned, looked at Nanoe, and said, "Nanoe, I killed someone."

Nanoe's body jolted, her eyes widened as she stared at him, but then she pressed her lips together and gave a slight nod. "I… I already knew. But what you did was right. In a situation like this, if we do not kill them, they will kill us. Rover, you did nothing wrong."

Rover felt secretly satisfied with Nanoe's answer. If she had been the kind of person with a saintly disposition who could not accept him killing people, it would have been difficult for them to live together.

There was no doubt that her answer pleased him greatly.

Rover continued, "Nanoe, after I kill a room owner, I can collect the resources they are holding. What do you think about me killing more people and robbing them of their resources?"

Nanoe frowned, thought for a moment, then said, "I think we should not kill too many people."

Rover remained silent, staring straight at Nanoe.

She went on, "Compared to killing them, letting them be our shields is still better."
