Chapter 5 - Aftermath of the Hunt

Lorraine gently placed Leon back on his chair, his expression softening.

"…Nothing, son. I'm just glad you're safe."

Leon lowered his eyes. "I should be saying that to you… You almost—"

Lorraine raised a hand to stop him. "Almost doesn't matter. What matters is that we're both alive."

Silence settled between them for a moment, warm and peaceful… until Lorraine suddenly flicked Leon on the forehead.

"Ow!? F-Father!?" Leon yelped, rubbing the sore spot.

"That," Lorraine said sternly, "is for running into danger without thinking."

Leon pouted. "But you were in trouble…"

"And you are five," Lorraine shot back, crossing his arms. "Five-year-olds are not allowed to fight cyclopes. Ever."

Leon opened his mouth to argue, but Lorraine ruffled his hair before he could speak.

"…Still," he murmured with a proud smile, "you were brave."

Leon's eyes widened. Lorraine rarely praised anyone—much less his own son.

Lorraine slowly stood up from the bed, stretching cautiously. His muscles trembled from exhaustion, but he forced himself to stand tall.

"We're heading home today," he said. "I need rest… and you need lessons."

"Lessons?" Leon tilted his head.

"Magic lessons," Lorraine replied. "You saw that aura yesterday, didn't you?"

Leon nodded vigorously.

Lorraine's gaze softened, then sharpened with determination.

"If you want to survive in this world… if you want to protect yourself, protect others… then your training begins the moment we return."

Leon's heart thumped in excitement.

Magic training.

Real magic training.

Windtier hummed faintly at his side, as if reacting to his excitement.

Lorraine noticed the sword glow and raised a brow. "…That sword responds strongly to you. Hmph. Looks like I'm going to have to teach you sword-control too."

Leon beamed. "I'll work hard, Father!"

"I know you will," Lorraine said as he walked toward the door. "Come on. Let's go home."

Leon jumped off the chair to follow—but paused.

Just before leaving the room, he glanced back at his father's bed… remembering the battle, the blood, the fear.

He clenched his small fist.

"Next time… I won't just watch."

Windtier shimmered lightly in agreement.

And with that promise burning in his heart, Leon followed his father out of the room—

toward a future filled with training, magic, and danger far greater than a lone cyclops.

Two days had passed since the Cyclops incident, yet the winter estate remained unusually quiet. The servants whispered about the monster battle, the shattered forest floor, and the lightning-like strike Lorraine unleashed.

But Leon…

Leon was thinking about something else entirely.

Magic.

He sat cross-legged on his bed, flipping through Secrets of Magic: Volume 3, his brows tightly furrowed.

"Mana control… mental focus… elemental resonance…" he muttered.

"Why is everything written like a puzzle?! Can't they just say 'do this and boom, magic'!?"

He tossed the book onto the pillow and sighed dramatically.

Just then

Knock. Knock.

The door opened, and Lorraine stepped inside, his arms crossed and a teasing smile on his face.

"You've been locked in your room since morning. Planning world domination?" he joked.

"Come on down I have a surprise for you"

After hearing this leon ran down quickly to the living room and after arriving asked what's the surprise.

Then a from his shadow someone appears and startled him and he shouts

"Who the hell are you" while lying on the floor

Lorraine grabs him and say that's your new magic teacher Matzel Sullivan

"This is the boy I'm going to be teaching no offense i know he's your son but I don't sense any magical potency on him you sure I have to teach him"

Lorraine replies back "Yes you do and also don't judge a book by it's cover you don't know anything about him"

"Ok-ok ,I'm sorry I'll teach him everything i know" replies Sullivan

Sullivan grabs Leon and takes him to the estate library and flungs open the door and puts him down on a chair and heads to pick up some books from the shelf.

After picking some books and gives it to Leon and starts

"As you know to learn magic in this day and age you need to learn the sigils I'll give you some brief. There are seven types of magic in this world elemental, miscellaneous, time and space, ancient, cursed ,blood and forgotten magic

But I'll only teach you two of them elemental and miscellaneous magics"

Leon asks " why only two. Can't you teach me all of them"

Sullivan answers by hitting him on the head and replies

"blood magic and cursed magic is illegal to perform or learn in the entire world as their taboo and know one in the world can use forgotten magic as their spells lost to time and the time and space magic can only be performed by high level wizards and I'm not at that level yet I'm only at the mage level"

Leon replies"oh really dang it, but anyways I'm okay with learning only two, ok please teach me them"

"Sure buddy but let's first tak about the types of elemental magic first to give you an idea about it.

Theres a total of 7 elements

Fire magic, water magic, earth magic, wind magic and lightning magic

But there's also two special elements like dark and light magic.

A person is born with a max of 3 elements but most only use 1 or 2 of the 3 elements they're born with as it's a hassle to master all three

To fully master even one element might take some people years.

So to test what kinda elements you can use I'll cast a magic spell to check"

Sullivan walks to his bag and takes out his wand and casts a spell to check him

As the spell formed under him and white

bright light started shining and then he shouts

"Okay leon wait a few seconds whent he light goes away your body should glow one of 9 colours green, yellow, red, blue, orange, black or white each has its own meaning but for now we are checking just how much max mana you have most probably you only get a yellow or red because no one in your family has high magical potency"

After a few seconds the light slowly fades away and to Sullivans shock Leons body glowed....
