Chapter 2 - "The Welcome Gift From Hell... and Heaven"

A week had passed since Lady Seraphina Valtoria shattered a demon with a swing so clean it made Siheon question his entire education.

Most people spent their week resting, working, or maybe watching dramas.

Siheon spent his week:

Surviving spontaneous holy light explosions

Being interrogated by an English demon hunter

Filling out heavenly paperwork that looked suspiciously like tax forms

Heaven, apparently, had bureaucracy.

---

Seraphina stood in front of him, coat fluttering in the breeze, silver hair falling like moonlight over her shoulder. She looked elegant… until she spoke.

"State your abilities."

Siheon blinked.

"…Breathing? Walking? Crying internally?"

She pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Heaven chose you?"

"I'm also wondering that."

This was day seven of the same conversation.

She raised her hand. A glowing crystalline sigil spun in her palm, humming with angelic power.

"Don't move. I'm checking your divine resonance—"

The sigil exploded.

Like… confetti cannon exploded.

Siheon stood there covered in glittering holy dust.

Seraphina stared at her hand.

"…What?"

He shrugged.

"See? I break stuff."

"No. You don't just break stuff," she muttered, "you break celestial diagnostics. That's not normal. Even archangels don't do that."

Siheon frowned.

"…Is that bad?"

"To Heaven? Yes. To Hell? Also yes. To me?"

She sighed dramatically.

"It's very inconvenient."

---

Seraphina tried again to scan him, but the magic fizzled.

So instead, she opened a Heaven Scroll — a relic that showed ancient celestial memory.

The air shimmered.

Siheon suddenly saw a past older than the world.

Two figures stood together:

Michael, radiant, calm, with a gentle smile.

Lucifer, bright-eyed, laughing like a star that refused to burn quietly.

They were brothers in everything but blood.

Lucifer smirked in the memory.

"Mike, someday I'll shine even brighter than you."

Michael clapped him on the back.

"And I'll be proud of you when you do."

For a moment, they were inseparable.

Then the memory flickered — showing a battlefield.

Lucifer's wings, once white, now blackened with rage.

Michael's eyes full of pain.

Heaven trembling.

Michael whispered to the fallen star:

"Brother… why?"

Lucifer laughed, but it sounded like breaking glass.

"Because you chose obedience… over me."

Siheon snapped back into the present, stunned.

"…They were friends?"

Seraphina nodded quietly.

"The best of friends, once. Before pride and fate tore them apart."

She closed the scroll, her expression soft for once.

"Your Soul Code… reacts to their echoes. That's why I'm suspicious."

---

Just then, Seraphina's phone buzzed.

She glanced at it — and her serious face cracked slightly.

"…Oh no."

"What is it?" Siheon asked.

"It's a report from the Korean Special Supernatural Affairs Division."

She hesitated.

"A human managed to injure a celestial envoy."

Siheon froze.

"A human? Like… a normal human?"

"No. A Primal-blooded human."

She swallowed.

"Those beings terrify even angels. Heaven has avoided them for centuries."

Siheon felt a chill.

"Should we… go check?"

Seraphina gave a tight smile.

"We're not going to check… We're going to hide."

He blinked.

"…What?"

"If a Primal human attacked a celestial envoy…" Her voice lowered.

"Then the envoy might come looking for someone weaker to take it out on."

Siheon thought for a moment.

"…Meaning me?"

"Yes."

"Should I be offended or—"

"Yes."

---

The ground suddenly cracked open behind them.

A clawed hand reached out, gripping the pavement.

A demonic aura flooded the air — red, heavy, suffocating.

Seraphina instantly drew her silver-bladed weapon.

"Stay behind me," she hissed.

A tall demon crawled out, smoke curling from his skin.

Not monstrous — disturbingly human-looking, with glowing red eyes.

He dusted himself off politely.

"Pardon the dramatic entrance. Infernal rules. You understand."

Seraphina raised her blade.

"State your business."

The demon bowed.

"I bring a contract offer."

Siheon blinked.

"…For who?"

The demon pointed… straight at him.

"You."

Seraphina stepped between them.

"Over my dead body."

The demon smirked.

"That can be arranged."

He snapped his fingers.

A massive demonic sigil flared beneath Siheon's feet.

Seraphina grabbed him and leaped away just in time.

"Are you insane?!" she snapped.

"I'm new to this!" Siheon yelled back.

The demon towered over them, shadows spreading like liquid.

"Accept Hell's contract, chosen human, and I offer you power beyond angels."

Siheon stuttered,

"Why does everyone think I want a contract?!"

Seraphina gritted her teeth.

"Siheon, don't talk to it. Demons negotiate like lawyers."

The demon tilted his head.

"Oh? But Heaven hasn't even explained why they chose you."

Siheon froze.

Seraphina stiffened.

The demon smiled wickedly.

"Shall I tell him, little huntress?"
