Chapter 3 - A meteor?

Doing Mr. Runler's job took a lot of time, afterall it was almost evening. As I continued walking towards the church, I could see people walking to their farms. People in the state of Luina depended mostly on farming.

Especially, poor people, not only in Mur but also many other villages were weirdly obsessed with potatoes, even in church, most of the dishes for dinner were from potatoes. Well, it's because the potatoes are cheaper to grow compared to other crops, even in the Sister's little garden, she only grew few betroots.

Besides being cheaper, potatoes were tasty and they were common here for them but for me they were delicious. In my past life I grew up eating microwave food, a readymade kind of food. All you hadto do was place the packet in the microwave, you could have hot and steaming food.

Vegetables, fruits or any other healthy foods were rare delicacies for me in my past life. For first few years, I really enjoyed eating the vegetables but later I grew tired of them.

I sighed.

It was indeed exhausting to carry 5 sacs with this body. As I looked up above, I could see the clouds darkening.

'Ah, it's about to rain '

I had to hurry up.

I increased my pace of walking. The church wasn't so far from Mr. Runler's house. i could see the church, it was about half a kilometre. Since there werent much trees in this village, you could easily identify things even from a longer distance.

But I stood.

As I looked up above, i could see a bright light that was falling?.

No, it seemed like a...a meteor?.

It penetrated the clouds...it was falling right to the land.

'What the f*ck?'.

I wanted to run away, but what about the people in the church? It was falling directly to it.

Maybe it was because the respect i had for Father Ricardus or probably his kindness towards me, i saw him as a father. Maybe that's why my body moved on its own, towards the church.

I knew I hadto run away, but what about the kids there?.

People seemed to have noticed it as they started to run.

I bit my lips.

Why? Every single time, just when I got something to call mine, it has become my home.

But what can I even do?.

The bright thing hit the land, tearing it apart. The church collapsed in just milliseconds, it was bright, so bright.

*BOOM*

The impact was not as strong as to destroy the village, it was just enough to destroy the church and surrounding buildings. Since I was closer,y body fell back from the impact.

It was a loud sound, like an atomic bomb. My ears hurt, i covered them with both of my hands.

For some reason, my consciousness started to fade. Some debris had scratched me.

"Agh"

I lost my consciousness.

...

The night lights glowed, most of them were neon lights. The lights were of tall skyscrapers soaring the skies and beside it there were also small buildings.

Few kilometres away, there was a huge dumpyard, where all the people from the city threw wastes. There was an young boy, who was all dirty and muddy from the rain. He had black hairs and a skinny body, black eyes and tattered clothes.

He looked around, before he found a pit of waste to dig in. As he started to search in the trash, he came across a mobile phone, he examined it before throwing away.

"Tch, I have lots of it, why do I always find that sh*t?".

He continued searching in the trash, he threw many things away, including a working phone again, a laptop and a gold ring.

"F*ck, why can't I find anything today?".

After minutes of searching, he found a book, the book's cover was all torn up. Looking at it the boy's eyes lit up.

"Whoa, is this what they call a book? Never thought I would encounter it here. People nowadays never sell them".

He placed it to his side and he continued searching through the trash, but he didn't have much luck, all he found was some AI deviced and other useless things.

His mouth was dry. He gave up and sighed. Picking up the book, he proceeded to search other new dumps. There were many people searching it, this a little boy like him cannot slide into the crowd.

He went to the slums, where his tiny house was. It was made up of tin sheets and clothes. Everyone had a similar shelters in the slum, but his was a lot smaller compared to the others.

He placed the book on his self made table, it wasn't too bad of a house. He had a place to sleep and be sheltered from the rain. But unfortunately he wasn't able to find food and clothes today.

He sat down and opened the book, he wasn't able to understand anything. He couldn't read afterall.

"Then why the hell did I even bring it?".

But it did have pictures, a guy holding a sword. He was handsome.

"Wish I could read it".

He sighed and went to sleep.
