Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6

The days that followed passed in a way that felt almost deceptively normal, as though the world itself had quietly decided to ignore the impossible situation unfolding within a modest house in a peaceful Kalos town. Morning routines continued, school bells rang, and people went about their lives unaware that a mythical Pokémon had chosen to remain curled comfortably atop the head of a young psychic boy.

Victini woke up early the very next morning, stretching lazily as it hovered down from Alex's head and landed softly on the bed. It blinked around the room, taking in its surroundings with curious blue eyes before pausing midair and sniffing once.

Then it froze.

The scent of food drifted in from the kitchen.

Before Alex could even sit up properly, Victini shot past him like a small orange blur, leaving him rubbing his eyes and stumbling after it. When he reached the kitchen, he found his mother already waiting, calm and composed, as if she had anticipated this exact outcome.

Several plates of carefully prepared Pokéblocks were arranged neatly on the table, each one crafted with rare ingredients and subtle psychic enhancers. Victini slowed, hovering suspiciously at first, its eyes darting between the woman and the food.

"You must be hungry," Alex's mother said gently, pushing one plate slightly forward. "You slept for a very long time."

Victini hesitated only a second longer before diving in, eating with such enthusiasm that crumbs scattered across the table. It hummed happily, clearly pleased, and worked its way through the Pokéblocks without a shred of restraint.

Alex watched from the doorway, expression flat. "You didn't even try to resist."

His mother smiled faintly.

Once Victini was full and hovering lazily, she moved closer with a small handheld scanner hidden behind her back. "Since you enjoyed the food," she said lightly, producing another Pokéblock between her fingers, "how about helping me with something very simple?"

Victini's eyes locked onto the treat.

She raised the scanner just enough for it to notice. "Just a quick scan."

Victini stared between the two, tail swaying in conflicted indecision, before floating forward and nodding eagerly. Alex sighed and turned away, already accepting that his mother had just bribed a mythical Pokémon into participating in research.

Later that morning, as Victini hovered invisibly above Alex's head and tugged at his hair in boredom, his parents spoke quietly in the next room.

"I don't like how unstable his psychic output still is," his father said, arms folded tightly, worry etched clearly across his face. "It's calmer than before, but it's not natural for a child his age."

His mother nodded, her expression serious now that she was no longer dealing with Victini directly. "He absorbed residual energy from the Amaura variant and resonated with Victini afterward. That kind of overlap isn't something we have data for."

"He's holding it together," his father said, lowering his voice. "But what if something triggers it again?"

"That's why I'm limiting his training and monitoring him closely," she replied. "As long as Victini stays with him, his psychic field stabilizes faster. Ironically, the mythical Pokémon might be the safest anchor he has."

His father exhaled slowly. "That doesn't make me feel better."

"No," she admitted quietly. "But it's the reality we have."

While those concerns weighed heavily at home, Cynthia handled the outside world.

Behind closed doors, she stood before officials of the Pokémon Alliance, posture straight and eyes sharp. Her presence alone commanded silence, and when she spoke, it was calm but unyielding.

"The child is stable," she said flatly. "His condition is being monitored by a qualified Pokémon biologist and myself. There will be no public disclosure, no interference, and no attempts to relocate him."

One official hesitated. "Champion Cynthia, this involves a mythical—"

"This involves my nephew," she interrupted smoothly, her gaze sharpening just enough to end the discussion. "Any reports, surveillance, or intervention will go through me."

The room fell silent.

After a moment, one of them nodded. "Understood."

By the time Cynthia returned home, the matter was settled—for now.

Alex's days continued quietly. He went to school as usual, Victini invisible atop his head, occasionally poking his forehead or tugging his hair when bored. Teachers noticed nothing beyond a slightly distracted child, and classmates remained blissfully unaware.

As Alex walked home each evening beneath the soft Kalos sky, flowers along the roadside trembled gently, leaves lifting into the air for a brief moment as faint psychic energy brushed past them before settling again.

A mythical Pokémon slept on his head.

His powers remained unstable, but contained.

And somehow, impossibly, this strange, fragile balance had become his new normal.
