Back on the road, flashing red and blue lights cut through the darkness as rescue workers and police swarmed the crash site. Evan's parents were alive—injured, but alive. But their son was missing.
"Where would he go?" a medic asked.
Before anyone could answer, one officer pointed to the broken brush at the edge of the road.
"Into the woods," he said. "He ran."
And so the search began.
