Chapter 209 - Chapter 209: Your Bones Glow, Right?

Chapter 209: Your Bones Glow, Right?

Kenichi wrapped the rabbit in his hand with chakra, then tried to draw water from it and use a very common technique: Water Release Bullet.

The ninja world had countless techniques, but some were taught openly in ninja schools because they lacked technical depth and had almost no lethality. The one Kenichi was about to use was exactly that kind.

Water Release Bullet, along with similarly named techniques like Wind Release Bullet, Fire Release Bullet, and Earth Release Bullet, were all basic chakra nature transformation ninjutsu. Their biggest advantage was that they were easy to learn and low difficulty.

Their biggest weakness was the same thing.

They were almost useless in real combat.

Water Release Bullet condensed a ball of water and threw it. That was it. At most, it was a way for new ninjas to practice. Its power was about the same as splashing someone in the face with a bucket of water.

Fine for washing up or cooking.

Not much else.

"Hmm… there's a vague sense to it. But if I infuse chakra into it…" Kenichi focused and tried again.

Then he pulled a small red ball out of the rabbit's body.

A fishy, strange stench drifted from it.

The ball rotated slowly in his palm, while the rabbit in front of him shriveled completely, turning into a mummified corpse. Even its eyeballs collapsed.

Deidara blinked.

He had been watching closely, expecting his idol to develop some powerful new technique.

He didn't expect Kenichi to turn a rabbit into a dried corpse instead.

Kenichi frowned and flicked the small ball away. It didn't have any real power. If anything, it was just disgusting. The smell was repulsive, like congealed blood mixed with something he couldn't describe.

"It's still not good enough," Kenichi said, shaking his head. "This technique needs me to infuse chakra into the target's body to get the effect I want. That's too slow."

In real combat, would anyone give him time to wrap their entire body in chakra?

If he had that kind of time, he could just kill them directly. Why bother?

Besides, the Cancer Creation technique had a different purpose. That one was meant for assassination.

If someone developed cancer, they wouldn't think they had been ambushed. They would just think they were unlucky.

But forcibly sending chakra into someone's body was another matter entirely.

This new idea had more deterrent value than practical value. Kenichi couldn't think of a specific use for it. Calling it useless wouldn't be wrong.

"It won't work unless there's a more efficient effect," Kenichi muttered. "Like using chakra to create an ultra high concentration water environment…"

He paused, then shook his head again.

"No. That's not good either."

Setting up something like that over an entire village would take too much preparation time. The chakra cost alone wouldn't be worth it. He would be better off using other techniques.

"Then… a combination technique will do." Kenichi thought of what had happened earlier and nodded.

There was some risk, but it didn't matter.

And it could also serve as cover for Deidara.

Moving at full speed, Kenichi and Deidara soon arrived at Hoshigakure.

If you ignored the strange black technologies some places had, most ninja villages in the world were actually similar to ordinary small villages. Even so, Kenichi felt a faint curiosity as he looked at the Hoshigakure ahead.

He was sure he had heard the name before. If he had, then it meant the Hoshigakure should have had some kind of plot relevance in the Naruto world.

The problem was that Kenichi couldn't remember anything special about it at all.

"Amemiya senpai, should we act now?" Deidara rubbed his hands, excitement rising.

Kenichi surveyed the place.

It was exactly as he expected. This small hidden village had nothing special. There wasn't even a protective barrier. It was practically undefended.

That was the reality for most small hidden villages.

Not every village could afford a Barrier Squad. Barrier techniques were village secrets, guarded tightly. Even in Konoha, the Barrier Squad's confidentiality level was extremely high.

"For a village at this level, an aerial assault could almost destroy it instantly," Kenichi said, stroking his chin.

The village in front of them was completely unprotected.

Its only defense was the handful of ninjas patrolling outside.

And even then, Kenichi couldn't judge their strength. In the ninja world, clothing didn't clearly distinguish rank. For all he knew, one of them could be a genin.

And who knew?

That genin might become a savior level figure later.

Just like Naruto and Sasuke.

"Not yet," Kenichi said, looking up at the sky. "We act tonight."

It was already afternoon, but still too early. If they started now, it could turn troublesome.

Not because wiping out the Hidden Star Village would be difficult.

Kenichi simply felt that a complete annihilation required planning. Deidara's cluster bombs might leave survivors, and if they scattered, it would be annoying.

Kenichi could use shadow clones to chase down escapees, but it was always easier to finish everything at once and save effort.

When night fell, Kenichi used Summoning Jutsu to call his airship.

He had Deidara enter first, then followed. He started it up and flew upward.

It had to be said, an airship, especially one Kenichi built himself, was useful in ways normal ones weren't. The biggest advantage was silence.

Ordinary airships needed steering systems, engines, and jet nozzles to adjust direction, which made them easy to detect.

Kenichi's airship was driven by chakra instead. Those problems didn't exist. He only needed Wind Release chakra to control its direction.

"Today's wind direction is…" Kenichi stretched out a hand, felt the wind speed and angle, then weighed the cluster bomb Deidara had prepared, estimating its approximate weight.

"Amemiya senpai, what are you doing?" Deidara asked. His curiosity was strong, but that was normal, especially at his age.

"Calculating the lead," Kenichi answered briefly, "so the effect will be better."

Then Kenichi glanced at Deidara and fell into thought.

He remembered something.

Deidara could control his own creations.

After confirming it, Kenichi rubbed his face with a wry smile. As expected, Deidara really could control his explosive clay. It wasn't precise control, but for the target below, precision wasn't necessary.

"Wait until you see the fog," Kenichi said, estimating quickly. "Then guide this thing to land in the center of the current position. After it falls… about fifteen hundred meters, let the outer shell disintegrate. You don't need to control anything else."

Deidara nodded immediately and began preparing for the bombing.

Seeing Deidara's excited expression, Kenichi shook his head.

Deidara's obsession with explosions was truly indescribable.

But Kenichi still had his own important work to do.

He opened the cabin door and felt the high altitude wind roar across his face. He wiped his face once, then jumped straight down.

The ground rushed up fast.

Just before he hit, Kenichi used Wind Release: Great Breakthrough to generate recoil and slow his descent, landing safely.

Hidden Star Village below remained the same at first, scattered patrols moving through the dark, completely unaware that death was already above them.

"Sage Art! Water Release! Hidden Mist Jutsu!" Kenichi shouted theatrically.

A vast fog rolled outward from him, spreading rapidly and swallowing the Hidden Star Village in moments.

"What happened?"

"Enemy attack! Be careful!"

The village fell into instant chaos.

They had some experience, but experience was useless here.

Because after casting Hidden Mist Jutsu, Kenichi immediately stepped out of the fog zone, away from the thickest concentration, and condensed Lightning Release chakra into his hand.

Mist conducted electricity unless it was perfectly distilled water. Even pure mist would only require a stronger voltage to overcome.

And now the entire Hidden Star Village was covered in dense fog.

Fog formed with Sage Art chakra was even harder to disperse.

Kenichi spread his hands slowly. Electricity crackled in his palms, condensing into a lightning sphere.

He stared at the fog in front of him and threw the lightning ball without hesitation.

In an instant, lightning ripped through the mist and surged across the entire area.

"What was that?" Deidara, still in the sky, stared down in curiosity.

He had seen a flash inside the fog, then that light exploded at the very center.

For a moment, night turned into day.

Silvery white patterns spread across the world below like a living net, burning themselves into Deidara's eyes and heart.

Deidara reacted quickly.

This had to be the timing Kenichi mentioned.

He pushed out the cluster bomb at once.

"This is art! Katsu!"

Deidara threw it down with excitement, but he didn't forget Kenichi's instructions. When it had fallen far enough, he controlled the outer clay to disintegrate.

Under gravity, the small bombs scattered rapidly.

Deidara licked his lips.

The white patterns below appeared quickly and vanished just as fast. The world returned to darkness.

Then, streaks of fire shot upward.

The roar of explosions tore through the silence of night.

Kenichi squinted.

The shockwave from the blasts, combined with the earlier lightning surge, finally dispersed the dense fog in front of him.

Flames.

Collapsed buildings.

Fallen ninjas.

Hidden Star Village was reduced to ruins under the combined assault of Kenichi and Deidara.

The shadow clones posted around the area didn't move.

Kenichi nodded.

It seemed no one had escaped. The people of the Hidden Star Village still hadn't even understood what had happened.

Then, from a ruined structure, a strange creature suddenly rose into the air.

It looked somewhat like a snake, yet it didn't seem like a living being at all. Through it, Kenichi could even see the flames burning behind it.

"Ah," Kenichi murmured, raising an eyebrow, "so there aren't absolutely no survivors."

Under an attack like that, someone could still survive?

If this were Konoha, Kenichi wouldn't be surprised. He would even worry that Guy might open the Eight Gates and kick him with Night Guy.

Then again, Guy shouldn't be that strong yet.

Kenichi looked up and started walking toward the anomaly.

Deidara hadn't come down yet. He was probably still figuring out how to land the airship.

Kenichi hoped Deidara was steady. Otherwise, he would need to rebuild his airship.

Yet as Kenichi walked through the devastated Hidden Star Village, a strange feeling crept over him.

It was subtle.

Hard to describe.

Just an uncomfortable sensation crawling over his skin.

"Hm?" Kenichi had been about to head straight for the strange creature, but he stopped mid step.

He took out a kunai and stared at a corpse beside him, frowning.

Bodies weren't strange. Kenichi had just used a combination technique, and Deidara had provided what could only be called a "cremation service." It would be strange if no one had died.

What puzzled Kenichi was something else.

The bones of this corpse…

They were glowing.

The nearby burning buildings cast light across the scene, but even in places untouched by firelight, Kenichi could see a faint glow on the corpse's humerus.

He dug out the bone and carried it to a spot completely free of firelight.

The glow became even clearer.

The humerus was shining in the dark, a blue green color.

"…Normal people don't glow," Kenichi muttered.

Then he recalled a past farce.

LK99.

Even though the commotion had died down, some people might still not know. LK99 had basically been confirmed not to be a room temperature superconductor. It was merely a material with strong diamagnetism that required specific conditions.

The country involved had even retracted their paper.

So it had essentially been a farce.

Of course, it was still hard to say whether that country had been holding something back.
