I stared back at Liam, blood pounding in my head, I could feel the bile rising from my throat, a personal assistant ? Work for the man that destroyed my life, my career?

I lifted my chin, and with a steady voice I replied
"I don't want your job, I don't want anything to do with you"
Liam's expression still remained unfazed and fixed on me and irritation flashed through his eyes.
"You're rejecting an offer that could save you?" He asked, his voice calm
"Yes" I replied sharply "I'd rather mop and scrub the floors than work for you.
His jaw tightened, and the room freezes around him
"You're making a terrible mistake, here darling" he said softly
A mistake? If this was a mistake so be it, it's one I'm comfortably making.
Without another word, I made way for the elevator, I'm not spending another second here to be humiliated by this man.
I pressed the elevator button, with my trembling palms and entered, and just before they closed I locked gaze with Mr Liam frost, was that pleading? I shook my head and the doors shut and I was down back at the lobby.
I walked out of the building refusing to shed a tear, no matter how hard it was , I won't cry here no matter what, he wasn't going to get the upper hand.

I was back at my apartment complex, when a mailman came in to deliver some mail and I instinctively went to my mailbox to check, my hands shook as I noticed an eviction notice.

Removal scheduled for Monday 16th June by 8am.
I felt the world spin. Didn't Maya pay in the rent on time? What's happening? I asked repeatedly as I ran up the stairs.
Opening the door to my apartment, I saw Maya on the balcony on her phone scrolling. "Hi Maya, how's it going I said as I sat beside her on the balcony
Her eyes lifted up to me, "I'm okay teddy, how did your interview go" she asked inquiring
"I didn't get it" I shrugged "turns out it was Liam frost that baited me to come work for him as his personal assistant and I can't stand him" I said
"Teddy you need to let go for your emotions and I know how strongly you feel for this guy in a bad way" she smiled "but we desperately need some help around here and fast too"
"Yeah I wanted to talk to you about that," I saw a mail in my mailbox concerning our eviction, I thought it was sorted"
"No it wasn't" Maya sighed "I haven't been paid in two months, the plan was to to use last months payment to offset the rent for the two months that we've been due but to no avail I guess"
Oh my God we are gonna be homeless, I had nothing to my name for Christ sakes and I couldn't afford to go back and live with my mom, we could barely afford to feed and that town was dead, what do I do?
"You know what to do teddy" Maya said as if reading my thoughts "you need to accept that job"
"But I don't want to, that man is vile and evil and so arrogant and
"And also handsome, rich and powerful, this is a once in a life time opportunity teddy, one salary could change your life, our lives! Don't let emotions get in the way of your thinking, Do what's important, you have bills to pay, debts to clear your mom and sister to take care of, don't let this hatred you have for this man cloud your sense of judgement"
I listened to Maya and honestly she made quite a few points.
"I'll think about it Maya" I said softly and covered her hands in mine, she smiled back at me " I hope you do the right thing " she said

Later that night, we were in the sitting room watching some rom com and a knock came on the door, loud and repetitive
I opened it, to find the landlord holding some paperwork.
"You have until Saturday to pay up your rent, if not you'll thrown out, no extensions" he said coldly and left
I stood there transfixed
"Who was it" Maya asked from the sitting room
"The landlord" I replied
"What did he want Maya said coming over to me
I gave her the paperwork the landlord had given me and Maya scanned through it.
"Well looks like we would be homeless in a couple of days" Maya said casually
And then it dawned on me.
I had no other choice
Liam frost had me cornered completely
