I shot Gina an exaggerated look. "Just promise me your mystery man will be as stubborn and maddening as mine. It keeps the spark alive."
Her face lit up with genuine joy. "I'm just thrilled you found Michael. Look how much he's transformed your world in such a brief time."
My heart squeezed tight as I nodded. "I'm beyond thrilled. I had no idea this kind of love was possible. So complete, so overwhelming, so secure and generous. My feelings for him run deeper than I ever imagined."
My voice dropped as I stared down at my hands. "But sometimes I wonder what I can possibly offer him in return. He's given me everything. There are moments when I feel inadequate, like I don't deserve the devotion he shows me."
Gina reached over and tilted my chin up, her expression serious. "The man I collaborated with while organizing this event? He's completely captivated by you. That's all there is to it. You're worthy of every bit of his affection, Allyson."
