Allyson's POV
Michael picked up on the first ring.
"Hello, beautiful," Michael's deep voice filled my ear, warm yet tinged with worry. "I've been trying to reach you."
"Sorry, Michael," I replied, my words still thick with sleep. "I was out cold."
"Gina mentioned you were resting when I called earlier. But it's been hours now, and that's not like you. You never sleep this long."
This was the perfect moment to share my news with him.
Michael, I slept so long because I discovered I'm pregnant and completely lost it.
My world turned upside down. My thoughts scattered. I couldn't focus, couldn't even breathe properly.
But I held back those words. News this important deserved to be shared in person, not through a phone call.
"You were right," I said softly instead. "I really needed that rest. My body must have been catching up on everything."
That wasn't completely false. Exhaustion had been weighing me down.
