Chapter 1 - The Last Breath of Revan

One thousand years ago, the planet Revan was nearly destroyed after being caught in the middle of a war between gods and demons. To expand their armies, both sides bestowed countless blessings upon the beings of Revan—only to force those blessed into fighting on their behalf.

Humans, tired of being treated like pawns in a divine game, raised their swords against the very beings who had granted them power. After hundreds of years of battle, humanity finally severed the path between the mortal world and the heavenly realm.

But nothing is indestructible forever. Now that barrier is weakening, and the gods and demons—who now consider humans traitors—harbor a deep hatred for them. Revan has become a fragile bubble, one that could burst at any moment.

And this is the world setting of the novel "The Last Breath of Revan"—the world I was reborn into. I was born into the Vychen tribe, a race known as the weakest in all of Revan. Even adult Vychens cannot grow taller than four feet. With puppy-like eyes and slender, pale bodies, Vychens are considered the cutest race in the novel. I even remember that one of the heroines kept a Vychen as a pet.

"oh my adorable baby! You're up?" my mother of this world touched lifted me up in her arms and started caressing my body. Yeah! Its been 5months since I was reborn and I already learned their language.

"…mmm.ymm.." I tried to get away from her grip. Though I know the language but it seems it will take some time to communicate properly.

"ohh! You like my touch my son? Hahaha!" she brushed her head against mine. I definitely swear I didn't like being petted by the adorable creature keeping me in her arms.

"Oh, my adorable baby! You're awake?" my new mother cooed as she lifted me into her arms, gently caressing my small body.

Yeah. It's been five months since my rebirth, and I've already learned their language.

"…mm… ymm…" I struggled weakly, trying to escape her grasp. I understood the language, but speaking it properly would take more time.

"Oh! You like my touch, my son? Hahaha!" she said, brushing her forehead affectionately against mine.

I swear I did not enjoy being petted by the adorable creature currently hugging me to her chest.

The Vychen tribe, known as the weakest race, are naturally cautious and timid. Because of this, they prefer to live in secluded places, often deep within dense forests where danger is minimal and strangers rarely wander. Yet despite their fragile appearance, Vychens are fiercely protective of their own. If a single member of their tribe is harmed, they will fight—even against dragons—until the very last Vychen falls.

In my previous life, I was an orphan. I died without ever experiencing love, not even knowing what it felt like to have a girlfriend. I never knew what it meant to be cherished. So being loved this much now… it may feel suffocating at times, but I can't bring myself to hate it.

"Haah…" I yawned. I get sleepy so often—maybe it's because I'm still just a kid.

It's been a year since I was reborn here. I can finally communicate with the other Vychens, even if my speech is still a bit clumsy. I also learned that our village has a few neighboring races, like the Felons—mushroom-like creatures—and the Gooryols, a spider-like race.

Maybe because this was originally a kid-focused novel, every creature here looks cute and harmless.

But appearances can be deceiving.

The Gooryols, for example, are known for their steel-hard webs that can slice through trees as easily as butter. Yet despite their terrifying abilities, they never dare to cause trouble for the Vychens. Even harming a single Vychen can trigger a full-scale war, and no one wants to provoke that, and considering that Vychens can live for over a thousand years… their population is anything but small.
