Chapter 2 - Eating a Devil fruit in the Middle of a Drunkenness

"Um?" Suddenly Ren glanced sideways and his expression changed.

He found that the suitcase he had set aside was actually open.

A strange fruit, purple‑black and shaped like a piranha, was lying quietly inside.

Moreover, there were some strange peels scattered on the ground.

"Could it be…?" His eyelids twitched.

He hurriedly rummaged through the suitcase.

But no matter how much he searched, he couldn't find the other fruit that should have been stored inside.

"Damn——!"

He covered his head, feeling a little helpless: "If you drink too much, it's the boss's fault!"

It seemed vague he did have some hazy memories Emboldened by wine and irritable, he had made up his mind and randomly chosen one of the two fruits.

No wonder he always felt that his body had undergone some indescribable and strange changes, as if he had become much stronger overnight.

He simply hadn't had time to think about it carefully.

Now, he finally understood why.

Inside the suitcase there were supposed to be two Devil Fruits.

One was the Piranha‑shaped fruit he had found it near the Drum Kingdom castle after Killing King Wapol the User of the Baku Baku no mi a Paramecia type devil fruit.

The other was a Rambutan‑shaped fruit with protrusions that look like purple crystals

He had obtained it accidentally on the Prehistoric Island Little Garden.

Although he wasn't against becoming a Devil Fruit user, he didn't want to waste this opportunity.

He had always wanted to find a powerful ability.

Especially after defeating Enel the Self Proclaimed God of Skypiea, he had been disappointed when he failed to find the Goro Goro no mi he had dreamed of, which should have respawned.

If he had obtained it, perhaps he would have given it to one of his allies.

After all, Devil Fruits that were too ordinary were useless to him.

They only gave him the weakness of being unable to swim and being restrained by Seastone.

Totally not worth it Because his true race was not that of an ordinary human.

According to legend, remnants of the Lunarian clan, a race of gods nearly extinct, still existed.

The World Government once offered a huge bounty: anyone who discovered the whereabouts of this clan and reported it to the Navy, Cipher Phol, or other agencies would directly receive 100 million berries.

This doomed the Lunarians to lead a homeless and precarious life since childhood.

To avoid the spies of the World Government's Cipher Phol Agencies, his parents had to live on a remote uninhabited island in the East Blue.

But Ren was not a pure Lunarian, but a rather special hybrid.

His father was Lunarian, but his mother was neither Lunarian nor ordinary human, but a mermaid from Fish‑Man Island.

It was said their union was a bloody story of a hero saving a beauty.

Ren was special, although he had Lunarian traits he had gray‑white hair and jet‑black wings like a fallen angel.

And, like other Lunarians, a mysterious flame appeared on the back of his head and neck shortly after birth.

He was born with the ability to control fire he could survive in any harsh natural environment.

But his skin color was unusual, as if the genes of the Lunarian and mermaid tribes had been neutralized.

It was neither the brown unique to Lunarians nor as pale as his mother, but a very light brown tone.

When he was born, to prevent Ren from bearing the "Curse" the World Government had imposed on the Lunarians for centuries, his father ruthlessly removed his wings. He hoped he could live like a normal human in the future, without hiding or worrying day and night.

Moreover, because his father wanted to protect mother and son, he fought for years against the Navy, Cipher Phol agents, Bounty hunters lured by the reward, and vicious pirates.

Even though he was Lunarian and had astonishing vitality, he suffered many hidden illnesses and his health deteriorated.

Later, during a fight with a Sea King, he was bitten due to his condition and eventually died of serious injuries.

Otherwise, although not particularly powerful, with Lunarian talent he wouldn't have been injured so easily by a Sea King.

Afterward, his mermaid mother died of depression, leaving him alone on a deserted island.

Ren, who wanted to control his own destiny and not be trapped there for life, trained relentlessly.

He even fought sea beasts and Sea Kings to hone himself.

After years of training, he became able to freely extinguish or display the flame behind his head at will.

Thus, he avoided revealing his identity even without a Devil Fruit, his innate ability to generate and manipulate fire gave him great power.

But considering the storms to come and the powerful enemies he would face, Ren had hesitated about which Devil Fruit to choose.

He never thought that, drunk, he would accidentally eat the Rambutan‑shaped fruit.

"However, although it was an accident, the result wasn't bad… it seems I really hit the jackpot!"

Closing his eyes, he carefully felt the subtle changes in his body.

That unprecedented strange sensation made Ren smile: "Mythical Zoan?"

He instantly understood his new abilities.

"Roar——!"

As if blessed to the soul.

He roared his entire body underwent an astonishing transformation.

With the smell of heat in the air, a roar like thunder echoed.

Ren's whole body expanded at a speed visible to the naked eye. His face grew ferocious and terrifying, long fangs gleaming sharp.

Charred Horns sprouted from the top of his head, Abyssal Black scales spread across his body, shining with a metallic luster, and his limbs turned into scaled, savage claws…

Boom! The earth roared and cracked.

A violent, beast‑like power surged outward. Birds and animals across the island, along with countless fish, shrimp, and sea beasts in the surrounding waters, trembled in fear.

In the blink of an eye, Ren transformed into a towering, Black creature that had only ever existed in myths of Monster Hunter a Game of his past life: The Equal Dragon Weapon.

Galmorath is a massive, heavily-built Elder Dragon clad in abyss-black scales streaked with glowing violet veins. Its body is adorned with sharp, radiant crystals along the back—echoing Safi'jiiva—while its head resembles a charred, horned Fatalis skull with golden runic cracks beneath the bone.

A vibrating, stone-like core glows in its chest, inspired by Shara Ishvalda. Its wings mix Velkhana's frost-crystal edges with Namielle's bioluminescent membranes, and Primordial Malzeno blade like Wings releasing a shimmering, charged mist. Muscular limbs end in heavy, crystalline claws, and its long tail finishes in a pulsating black crystal.

Breath heavy, flames surged. Blossoms of fire appeared out of thin air.

His massive beast body was bathed in blazing flames, exuding terrifying heat that dyed the sky red. The once‑green earth blackened, scorched in an instant. Even the air itself warped under the heat.

With a thought, Ren opened his mouth. A terrifying firelight gathered.

Call out——! The next moment, the fire pierced the atmosphere and blasted outward. A massive hill exploded like a tornado, rocks flying, smoke billowing, flames bursting skyward.

The ground collapsed and cracked under the pressure.

Ren, now the fire unicorn, leapt upward. Flame‑like auspicious clouds rose beneath his feet, lifting him to stand firmly in mid‑air.

Roar——! The Dragon raised its head and roared, its aura overwhelming.

Thunderbolt! A terrifying thunderclap made the sky pale. It struck distant rocks, shattering them with a deafening boom.

The sea churned violently, waves crashing, a massive reef erased as if it had never existed.

The Dragon roared again, its blazing figure streaking across the sky like an afterimage. Stepping on auspicious clouds, it raced upward.

The atmosphere distorted under the rising flames. Its scaled limbs were like pillars holding up the heavens. The fiery beast was ferocious, cloaked in flames no one could approach.

Suddenly, it dove from hundreds of meters above, as fast as lightning, tearing through the air.

Boom… boom… A storm of heat waves swept across the land. Within kilometers, the temperature soared.

"Turn into lava!"

The fiery afterimage streaked across the sky like a burning meteor, crashing into the ground.

Boom boom… crackling… The sky turned blood‑red, flames spreading like a natural disaster. The earth cracked like a spider web, glowing red, melting away.

A boiling magma lake formed, thick smoke rising, waves of heat numbing the scalp.

Roar——! Ren's Qilin form bathed in magma, roaring to the heavens with excitement. His thunderous cry resounded across the ring of islands.

Snakes, insects, beasts, fish, and even Sea Kings trembled in panic.

At last, the Dragon burst from the magma, flames streaming around him. Like a red comet, he descended steadily to the ground.

His massive beast body shrank at visible speed, returning him to human form. Despite soaking in magma, he stood unharmed, leaping lightly.

"Ryu Ryu no Mi · Mythical Zoan · Model: Galmorath… I really won the prize!"

Ren smiled with indescribable joy. The Devil Fruit he had accidentally obtained from the Ancient Island held astonishing power.

"In particular, my Lunarian heritage, combined with this mythical beast ability, has greatly strengthened the flames I can control…"

Suddenly, a flame burst from the back of his neck. At the same time, Ren clenched his right fist, conjuring fire from nothing.

Crackling… Blazing flames burned brightly, the heat distorting the air.

"Fire Punch!"

Ren's eyes sharpened. He struck fiercely.

The sky turned red as flames expanded, rising upward. A massive flaming fist seal formed, carrying unbearable heat, distorting the atmosphere.

It smashed into a towering rock.

Boom——! The raging fire engulfed everything. The rock, weathered by ages, shattered instantly.

Gurgling… Before the rubble could scatter, it melted into magma under the flames. Boiling liquid bubbled, the ground scorched black, smoke filling the air.

Ren laughed. "It's a truly addictive ability!"

Even with just a small test, he could confirm: The temperature of his flames now far surpassed those of Fire Fist Ace User of the Mera Mera no mi.
