Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: A Violet Problem

The robotic figure stood towering over the two; it was practically a 6-foot hulking monster made of metal.

The purple tubes enlarged even more before thinning back down. The robot took its arms away from its back and rested them dangling on the ground.

The actions were beginning to confuse Xeanoz.

Then, 5 thin metal rods appearing as claws popped from the knuckles of one of the gauntlets, and another 4 on the other, as they shifted to a bright purple colour.

"Alright, I'm gonna give you both the liberty to choose to talk or to die."

Xeanoz flicked her hair, the crescent-shaped spikes moving in tandem once again. She was not at all fazed by the robot's move or gear as she altered the air into spear-shaped blue flames.

"I don't see any reason that we should tell you anything. You just killed a man in broad daylight; you're as untrustworthy as I am, so I've been called."

As she referred to Drew, he, on the other hand, was still staring at the dead body; he didn't know how to feel about it.

He didn't know the man, but a death like that had to have been painful; he didn't want to experience it too, so he wanted to run, but he couldn't. He just froze, and his vision blurred.

The robot raised its left arm, extending the claws from its gauntlet.

"Come on~ I wouldn't want to wreck your pretty face, not like this ugly bastard."

The robot joked slightly, gesturing towards the dead man.

"So, how about you just tell me what the two of you are, and we can all put this behind us?"

Xeanoz glared at it, as if she were piercing through the visor and directly at its eyes.

"Try me. I can tell by your tone you don't mean a single thing you're saying, you creep."

The robot chuckled before muttering to itself.

"Woooow, you're annoying."

They didn't move for a minute.

Trying to tell who was going to strike first.

How the other would dodge.

And where was the attack going to land.

The silence was deafening.

And immediately, there was a shot of all five glowing rods going towards Xeanoz, moving at breakneck speed.

She didn't move or raise a single finger as her spears spun in front of her until they were moving like fans.

Which resulted in three of the rods melting upon contact and one flying past, and out into the town.

The ones that melted upon contact with her spears seemed to have something evaporating from them, however.

Xeanoz looked back as she tried to see where the fourth had landed; but she was surprised to find the robot's fist inches from her face.

Which resulted in her altering the sewage water back into air to propel herself backwards.

She threw herself against a wall and quickly regained her composure, but the robot was ten steps ahead. Throwing his arm and attempted to smash her head into the wall.

Fortunately, Xeanoz ducked the second she saw the fist, which caused the gauntlet to collide with the wall and crater it.

Xeanoz quickly got out of the way as she manipulated the spears to aim towards the back of the robot, but it swung its arms, which resulted in them shriveling upon contact.

The robot then sprinted at her, throwing consecutive punches.

She dodged and blocked them all the best she could, even manipulating the air into fire to deflect the attacks.

Then she threw a clean hit to the robot's face, bruising her fist but successfully resulting in the robot taking a few steps back while it regaining its composure.

"Damn, ok, you're too good."

It then held its arm out, and the claw from earlier that had missed Xeanoz appeared, flying over and landing into the robot's hand.

It suddenly started using the rod as a baton, smacking Xeanoz's head into the wall with it, and simultaneously burning her cheek.

It repeated the action, hitting her head into the wall again, but this time after the bounce back from the attack.

Xeanoz manipulated the air to throw the robot further, first into the wall of the building on the opposing side, and then dragging it up into the air.

Xeanoz then altered more sewage water into air, allowing her to fly, as her sclera shifted to become black, and her pupils altered to blue, as well as her eyelashes.

Then she altered more portions of air into 8 blue fiery spears, throwing them at the robot mid-air.

It deflected two but was stabbed by 6 on both shoulders, then it noticed – her spears were more dense.

Although it had no time to process this as it crashed into the roof of the building. Xeanoz landed down onto the roof as well, altering the air into another fiery spear, as this time she grabbed hold of it.

It burned her palms, but she pushed past the pain and thrusted the spear into the robot's armour.

Twisting and turning it deeper into its shoulder.

And past the steel-like plates on its body.

"ARGHHHHHH! FUUUCK!"

The robot screamed in pain and agony, causing Xeanoz to believe.

That this wasn't a robot at all.

Then she noticed something that confirmed it.

Blood started to drip and boil from its shoulders.

"Blood?...It really is human."

Her guard dropped.

As she stared at the bleeding hole, and slowly stopped thrusting her spear.

"Biiiiig mistake you bitch."

It grabbed just above the part of the spear she had held onto, and yanked it out of her fingers, and using its other hand, it snapped the spear in half as the flames extinguished, turning back into air.

Then Xeanoz was grabbed by the back of her hood and aggressively thrown back down into the alleyway.

Unable to stick a landing, she fell straight into the concrete.

And wasting no time at all, the robot slid down the side of the building from the roof, plodded over to Xeanoz, before towering over her.

Then, using the arm that still had four of its claws, pulled its arm back.

And stabbed her right through the solar plexus and stomach.

Her eyes widened.

And before she could even scream or shout.

The robot pressed its free hand against her mouth.

"Sh-sh-shhh. It's gonna be fine. Just lie there."

"And die."

It then jerked the spikes out of her stomach as she bled out.

And as for Drew.

He couldn't move, two deaths.

Right in front of him.

And he did nothing. Guilt overtook him, but the fear was more dominant; he felt himself wanting to turn and just get away, but at the same time.

Xeanoz kept him alive, and all he did was watch and right after everything he'd just said.

However.

As he had spent too much time considering what to do, the robot turned to Drew and walked over to him.

Although it wasn't visible.

The tone in his voice spoke volumes.

He found it hilarious watching Drew quiver in fear, afraid, just wanting to go home.

"Looks like the girl is dead." Drew looked back at Xeanoz, watching her corpse bleed out.

"It's embarrassing that you needed to have someone so skinny protect you, not man-like at all."

"But it can't be helped. I feel a bit bad that I killed her, and she was damn interesting too."

"But someone like you? Did nothing to the very end?"

"Don't think so."

Drew.

Feeling as though he needed to do something.

Anything.

Forced himself out of his frozen state.

Xeanoz's dead body, watching the way she died.

It frustrated him.

Not just with robotic figure but with himself.

He watched.

"Why did I just watch?"

"Why am I scared?"

He lowered his head and stared at his hands before clenching them and looking back at Sam.

Mustering all of his strength.

With no care for what could happen next.

He threw a hook straight into the robot's stomach.

[...]

"Predictable as shit."

He was quickly grabbed by the arm, which was then instantly twisted, before Drew was effectively slammed into the wall next to him by the robot.

It then raised its arms, preparing to give Drew a slow and painful death.

"AHHHHHH!"

Drew yelled.

He struggled on the floor, crying and screaming in pain after his whole arm had been brutally twisted.

His vision was getting worse.

Until quickly clearing back up.

As he saw the gauntlet closing up against his face.

"Wait-wait! Please don't kill me! I don't want to die!"

He felt regrets bubbling inside him, "They don't even know what I'm doing right now.", "I won't even say sorry." More and more came up, wishing he could get another minute with his parents.

The robotic figure's arm came kept going forward.

"Yeah. I honestly don't care."

SPLAT

Blood poured across the floor.

THUD

Drew was on his back against the wall.

It was stained with some of his blood from being slammed against it.

His body dropped to the right, lying on the floor.

And looked lifelessly into the sky.

His head turned to the right as he looked off with his jaw subtly dropped.

Someone stood at his side, towering over him.

And it was none other than Xeanoz.

Five holes in her stomach, pouring out little to no blood.

Drew turned his head to her slowly.

"How…how are you even alive?"

She grazed the holes in her stomach, then looked directly back at him, with an annoyed yet also confused look.

She stared at herself through her reflection in Drew's eyes, she felt like a word she didn't know, but tried to understand.

"I'm…not sure."

"The initial pain was unbearable…but after a second, it didn't even sting."

Drew looked at her like she was insane.

"You were stabbed in the gut in five different places, and you're fine? How are you – how are you fine? – My arm is killing me, and you're not in pain from that?"

He exclaimed, pointing towards her holes, which were steaming.

She shrugged, and Drew was annoyed yet also relieved that they're both still alive.

Yet in immense pain, his arm was bleeding out, and he couldn't even get himself up.

It all hurt too much.

Then he looked back at her, his face scrunched and his teeth clenched in annoyance – which was not due to her.

"That's not an answer, y'know."

He implied as he hissed afterwards due to the increasing discomfort in his arm.

She quickly nodded.

"You're right, I don't have an answer. But I bet we can get some answers from the Man in Steel."

Drew smiled slightly, looking at her, still incredibly swore.

"Sure, yeah."

She looked at him, confused, and her neutral expression shifted to utter confusion.

"What? Why are you smiling?"

He sighed, waving his arm, indicating for her to forget about it.

Knowing she wasn't going to help him up, he did it himself. He was about to fall over; however, he kept himself steady.

He didn't look at his right arm at all and just tried to avoid the pain. But he continued to hiss and inhale air, threw his teeth, and in an attempt to forget about it, he spoke up.

"You know what, you're right…I want to know who or what this guy or thing is."

They both looked at the robot.

Who has been stabbed in the back with three flaming spears.

It was unconscious and covered in its own blood.

Its armour retracted to the back of its neck, revealing the human underneath it.
