But soon, the vampires calmed down.
"Just a human. So what if he has a good weapon?" one vampire said disdainfully.
Their vampiric physique far surpassed humans. As long as they avoided that strange watermelon knife, they could still take him down with ease.
Many vampires found this statement convincing. They immediately surged forward, clawing and baring their fangs as they pounced at Daniel!
Death God's Eye!
In an instant, the vampires' movements slowed to a crawl.
Daniel didn't hesitate. His wrist flicked, and the watermelon knife slashed out in a blur.
Swish! Swish!
Two cold flashes of steel. Two vampire heads flew into the air, and their bodies instantly disintegrated into drifting ash.
Daniel's offensive didn't stop for a second.
Gripping the watermelon knife tightly, he charged into the oncoming swarm of vampires and began hacking wildly.
Driven by his overwhelming brute strength, the blade tore through vampire bodies with ease. They didn't even have time to scream before they dissolved into clouds of ash under the sweeping knife-light.
The fierce battle immediately drew the attention of every vampire in the bar.
They froze at the sight of their companions dying. But in the next breath, their bloodthirsty instincts replaced reason. One after another, they lunged toward Daniel in a frenzied stampede.
Daniel didn't retreat. Instead, he shot forward, hurling himself straight into the heart of the vampire crowd.
Setting aside the supernatural aspect, these vampires were no different from random street thugs in Daniel's eyes—sloppy attacks, all bite and grab. And with a Nichirin blade designed specifically to counter vampires, killing them was literally like slicing melons.
A simple swing — heads flew.
He didn't even blink.
The number of vampires in the room plummeted rapidly. A thick layer of ash already coated the ground under Daniel's feet.
"No—don't come any closer!"
The few remaining vampires were huddled in a corner, trembling as rational thought finally returned. They stared at the man holding a watermelon knife in pure terror.
Who said this guy was human?
He was a hundred times more terrifying than any vampire!
Swish! Swish! Swish!
The cold light danced again. The last few vampires turned into drifting gray dust.
Daniel shook the ash off his watermelon knife and glanced at the mission progress.
[Current vampire kills: 34]
Ignoring the mess around him, Daniel left the underground bar and casually dealt with the two security guards at the iron door.
Yes, they were vampires too.
"System, mark a few locations for me."
As he spoke, the map lit up with more than a dozen crimson icons scattered across New York.
These were all the vampire gathering points he had extracted from that red-haired woman earlier.
Looking at the map, Daniel stretched his shoulders.
"Time to grind!"
And so began a new killing spree.
Daniel moved through New York's streets and alleys, clearing one vampire den after another.
Their bases were all similar—bars or nightclubs, fitting the nature of such creatures perfectly.
The only unusual one was a church. From the priest to the cleaning lady, every one of them was a vampire—perfectly embodying "the most dangerous place is the safest hiding spot."
Unfortunately for them, such disguises meant nothing to Daniel. He simply sent them all to meet God with his watermelon knife.
Who knew what God would think when a group of vampire impostors showed up?
Relying solely on that watermelon knife, Daniel cut from the south of New York straight to the north, back and forth for three whole days and nights.
Even Chen Haonan wasn't this busy.
In just three days, Daniel had wiped out over ten vampire gathering points, and his kill count skyrocketed to over four hundred.
His operations were so swift that not even ordinary humans noticed anything.
Only the nearby residents felt the air quality mysteriously worsening, as if strange dust kept drifting around.
The next night, Daniel moved again.
But this time, the security around the target site was significantly stronger.
Clearly, the vampire circles had gotten word and begun preparing defenses.
Just as Daniel hid in the shadows observing the entrance of a nightclub, a deep voice suddenly sounded behind him:
"You're the vampire hunter?"
"Who?! Who's talking?!"
Daniel's eyes widened as he scanned his surroundings.
"I'm on your left."
Hearing that, Daniel finally noticed a figure standing in the shadows—a muscular Black man wearing a black leather duster, black sunglasses, and fully equipped in black gear.
He blended into the darkness almost perfectly. Without careful observation, he would be nearly invisible.
Daniel couldn't help but exclaim, "Such an advanced stealth skill! I didn't even notice you!"
Blade: "?"
He was literally just standing still. There was no stealth involved.
"Right, what did you call me just now?" Daniel asked.
"Vampire hunter."
The man repeated, his voice deep. "Rumor has it someone has been wiping out vampire dens recently, killing hundreds of them. The vampires have started calling him the vampire hunter. I'm guessing that's you."
"What a cliché nickname."
Daniel criticized bluntly, then gave the man another look. "And you are?"
The man replied coldly, "You may call me Blade. Like you, I hunt those blood-sucking vermin."
"Oh, I see. So you're here to steal my mobs."
Daniel suddenly understood. He immediately drew his watermelon knife and began considering how many pieces Blade should be chopped into.
Blade: "?"
He struggled to follow Daniel's brain circuit but did notice the intense murderous intent toward vampires.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Blade spoke quickly, "Relax. I won't interfere with your kills. I'm looking for a vampire named Deacon Frost. One of his key subordinates is hiding in this place."
He paused, glancing at the heavily guarded entrance.
"But your recent actions have terrified them. Every vampire den is strengthening defenses. If we make too much noise here, they'll scatter immediately. Once they disappear into the shadows again, flushing them out will be a nightmare."
Daniel nodded. That made sense.
These enemies weren't like monsters in other games that stayed put, waiting to be farmed.
"What's your suggestion?"
"We work together. Everyone inside is yours. I only want Frost's subordinate."
"Heh. And why would I—"
"I can give you more vampire base locations."
"…Deal."
"Happy cooperation."
