Chapter 140 - It is the Bond Between Sisters

It is the Bond Between Sisters

Virginia had been summoned by Jessica, and for the first time in a long time she was not annoyed by it. She knew before Damon Sr., when her sister had gone off the rails. She had friends that monitored such things and they had informed her and even turned a blind eye when Virginia did nothing at all.

She had been in shock. Jessica had always been the golden child of the family. She had been both her parents' favorite since they were children. To see the elder sister she had been indoctrinated to revere fall from her diamond pedestal had been a bit devastating.

But Virginia recovered quickly and from that moment forward only had contempt and cynicism for her eldest sister.

Now she drove down the long winding road that led to the home Jessica shared with Albert with a renewed feeling of respect for Jessica. She knew she would never revere her again but she now knew for sure she would always love her.

She pulled into the circular driveway and was taken aback by all the security. She scoffed. "Jessica and Albert are truly peas in a pod." She shook her head as she parked and three guards rushed to her vehicle.

On reflex her hand jerked to the spot where her hand gun was located. She relaxed when she heard Albert barking orders. She nodded to herself. "New, and a bit too eager." She got out of her car, a frown on her face, the red bottoms of her heels flashing as she gracefully crossed the gravel drive.

Albert smiled widely. "My apologies little sister." Virginia arched an eyebrow and Albert laughed. "A term of endearment Virginia. Jessica is waiting for you in her study."

She walked passed him without looking at him. "And when will you allow her to leave her crystal house?"

He shrugged. "When I feel that she is fully healed."

Virginia smiled as she gracefully walked up the stone steps to the front door. She laughed as the door closed behind her and she heard Albert loudly reprimand his men for watching her a bit too closely. She shook her head. "How many brothers do I actually need?"

She entered Jessica's study with the same air of aloof grace she always possessed. Jessica looked up from the window nook with a smile. Her study was a library filled with fragrant mahogany walls, bookshelves, and floors. The furniture was out of their mother's decorating handbook and she instantly knew her sister and mother had gone on a few shopping sprees.

Jessica stood, looking radiantly confident, and moved to her sister and embraced her in a strong hug. Virginia frowned. Jessica was hugging her like this would be the last time they saw each other.

Jessica pulled away and directed Virginia to the table in the window nook. Virginia put her handbag in a chair, as Jessica sat down, and promptly began to pace before the beautiful resin and wood table. Jessica poured them juice and allowed her youngest sister time to calm herself.

"You were right the entire time Jessica!" Virginia stopped in a huff and looked at her sister with a worried frown. "We allowed Dan to trap our sister in a location non of us truly knew about." She sat down in a huff and then stood back up and began pacing again. "Amber Ann is pregnant and she is not like you and I." She looked to her sister again. "I tried to teach her some basic self defense and she is good at it but she doesn't think of violence first. She is trying to understand then negotiate." She threw her hand out in the direction of Jessica's circular drive. "Hell I almost killed three of your guards when they rushed my car. I am pretty sure I would have shot one if Albert hadn't spoken up."

She flung herself into her chair in an un-lady like huff and angrily sipped her juice. Jessica looked toward the drive wondering what fool had tried to rush her baby sister. Then she looked to Virginia calmly. "You would never kill someone just because they rushed you." She shrugged. "You might scare them but kill no. You are a professional and good at what you do."

She sat down calmly. "Albert has kept me up-to-date. This man - or woman is meticulous." She thought for a second. "I doubt Dan has kept Amber in the loop." She shook her head. "They are always trying to protect us, never understanding how capable we are. Who to better understand this warped mind than Amber Ann." She sucked her teeth as her mind whirled.

Virginia watched her and began to see her sister again - the smart cunning sister that was her inspiration to go into government work.

Jessica looked to her with a smile. "We will set up the ridge location. Amber may have told Dan about the cabin but she is not going to give up the alternate plan. Marcus still maintains the property for me." She pulled her cell phone out. "I will tell him to get the property ready and that Dan and Amber will be there soon."

Virginia frowned. "Soon?" She bit her lip. "Are you sure?" But she felt it too. This guy had been ahead of them the entire time.

She looked up as Jessica began speaking again. "This man is a collector. He is taking toes Virginia. I do not understand psychology like Amber does, but I can see that easily, you can as well."

She paused and spoke to Marcus, an outdoorsman who had lived on the Lance ridge for decades. Virginia's mind was locked on what her sister had said. She was right, Amber would understand this - and she would she would have a plan as well. Amber was probably the smartest one of them all.

Jessica hung up the phone. Virginia could see that she was more relaxed but not completely. Her shoulders were not completely tensed but they were not totally relaxed either. Jessica looked to her sister, her expression serious. "I know I have done questionable things but we need to move to the dark side to fight someone who thinks like this person thinks. The men think he is just a shadow but he is more than that. He is a dangerous corrosion and if we do not figure out how to cut him completely out of our system he will continue to eat away at us.
