Chapter 12 - The Selfish Sister and The Sister Who Always Walks Away

The Selfish Sister and The Sister Who Always Walks Away

Jessica was furious. She walked to the Aston Martin her mother gave her to drive and kicked the tire. Wasn't she the good one? She allowed Amber to pretend she took a man from her. FROM HER!

But she wanted him back - she needed him back. Her life had not gone like she had wanted. She wanted to travel and she wanted to know kw the world.

She had never wanted to help anyone.

She got into the car and called her mother.

"Mommy. I need to talk to Amber. Dan is confused because she is being overly dramatic."

"Hello Honey. Darling you know your brothers and sisters don't tell me anything. Let me call her now and ask her to meet you."

"Thank you mommy. Tell her to meet me at Garlino's in two hours for lunch."

"Okay honey. Do you have money?"

Jessica actually pouted when she answered. "I have a little."

"Don't worry. I will put some money into your account. Come and stay with your father and I until your house is cleaned and ready for you."

Jessica rolled her eyes and began to go through YouTube videos. "Mommy I am fine at Amber's. I will talk to daddy."

"Honey you and your father are too much alike. But you know that. I will call Amber now. I love you. See you at dinner."

"Love you Mommy see you tonight."

Jessica disconnected the call and the fake smile fell from her face. She was looking at Dan's videos and all of there views. She nodded. She hated influencers but she had to admit that it was a legitimate way to earn money.

"All he needs to do is change how he does it and still reap the benefits."

She put her phone down and started the car. She wanted a shower and change her clothes. She smiled – she would wear all the clothes Amber had yet to wear.

"She is too dull to actually use these clothes any way." She swung her head and her hair flipped from the side of her face. She pulled into the drive, rolled her eyes, and sighed. Both Paul and Virginia's cars were on the other side of the drive.

She watched her siblings bring four suitcases down and to their cars. She frowned and felt the frustration rise in her chest. Virginia smiled in her direction. Jessica cursed and moved to get out of the car.

Paul flashed her a look as he went back into the house and Virginia walked to her sister.

"Hello Jessica. How are you sis?" She smiled broadly and walked slowly and confidently to her sister. She ran her hand through her hair, her eyes never leaving her sister.

"Virginia. Why are you taking things from Amber and Dan's house.'

"Don't worry. We are just taking Amber's things." She looked at what her sister was wearing. "Come into the house and change out of that." She smiled. "You are accruing a large dry cleaning bill."

"Does Amber need you to speak for her? She has more money and more education. I think she can take care of herself."

Virginia laughed. "Is that why you are so jealous of her?"

The sisters looked at each other for a long time.

"Let's go Virginia we have all of her things." He put three more suitcases into the car, and still didn't speak to his oldest sister."

Virginia looked to the clothes Jessica wore and began to walk away. "I will be back for all of my sister's clothes."

"I am your sister too."

Virginia did not answer. Jessica stood and watched her siblings drive away. She shook her head and went into the house.

It was lunchtime and Amber was mildly annoyed, not because her mother asked her to have lunch with Jessica – rather because she had been waiting for Jessica for 45 minutes.

"Jessica. You are not answering call or text."

"How long am I to wait?👀"

She sighed and looked at the time as she began thinking about what she needed to do next.

"You have no patience Amber Ann."

Amber rose - a smile on her face after hearing the condescension in her sister's voice. The sisters hugged and sat down together. Jessica called the waitress and orders a drink and three flavors of hummus and six flavors of pita chips. Amber frowned but didn't say anything.

Jessica ate a bit, ordered another drink, and then ordered a salad and soup – the entire time she did not speak to Amber.

"Jessica. I came here…"

"You came here because I told you to come here."

Amber waited for her sister to continue but she never did. "Jessica. You are the most selfish person I know."

Jessica scoffed. "Stop being so dramatic Amber. Give Dan what he wants and just be your boring self." Jessica leaned across the table and into Amber's face. "You know and I know this is what you want. He will never fully want you but he is comfortable with you."

She smirked and sat back. Amber looked at her sister for a long while. She stood without a word. She put just enough money for her food on the table. "I completely agree with you Jessica. Dan was just comfortable. I have signed the papers. Tell him to sign them and be happy again." She didn't wait for a response – she just turned and walked away.
