Starry Wisdom (The Moon) had intervened. Not to save Ren, but to spite her brother.
The Solar Fire hit the Moon's shadow and scattered into harmless light.
Under the cover of darkness, a voice spoke in Ren's mind. It was cool, slippery, and full of secrets.
"Ren..."
"Who are you?" Ren asked.
"I am the Moon. I am Wisdom. I see your fear."
"Can you give me immortality?" Ren begged.
"My brother burns what he does not understand," the Moon whispered. "But I understand everything. There is a place where Time does not exist."
"Where?"
"The River of Time. It flows in the wound of the world, where Father died. Go there. Drink from it. And you will never age."
Ren thanked the Moon. He did not know that Wisdom is often a trap wrapped in a gift.
