Chapter 68 - Chapter 68 Dismissed

After saying his piece, Xu Botao didn't linger.

He hung up and walked away.

But Wen Zhi's gaze followed his retreating figure—

her eyes narrowing, icy and razor-sharp.

Three days?

He wouldn't even need three.

If he dared show up one more time, she would call the police again and make sure he understood—

she was no longer someone he could threaten.

She got into Mo Tingyan's car at the intersection.

Sensing her low mood, he flashed a lazy, roguish smile.

"You've already returned to flying—why the long face?"

Wen Zhi didn't want him worrying, so she shook her head lightly.

"It's nothing. I've been off duty for days—four legs in one day is just tiring."

This was her own business.

She didn't want to drag him into it.

But Mo Tingyan's brows darkened subtly.

He said nothing.

The next day, after finishing her flight, she saw him again.

Xu Botao.

Just as expected.

Wen Zhi went straight to airport security and reviewed surveillance footage from the past few days.

For four consecutive days, he had appeared at the entrance of Jiang Airlines—

lurking, peering inside like a ghost.

She didn't hesitate.

She called the police.

Not long after, airport police arrived and took him away.

She knew very well—

he hadn't committed a concrete crime.

After questioning, he'd be released.

But she didn't care.

She just wanted him to know—

She would never allow herself to be blackmailed.

She thought a warning would scare off a rat like him.

But she underestimated his madness.

The very next day—

Xu Botao stormed directly into the Jiang Airlines lobby, causing a scene, shouting Wen Zhi's name at the top of his lungs.

Wen Zhi had just returned from a flight.

The noise grated on her nerves.

By the time she reached the first floor, a crowd had already gathered.

The moment Xu Botao saw her, he rushed over and grabbed her arm.

At the same time, Mo Tingyan—hearing the commotion—stepped out of the captain's lounge.

What he saw made his expression instantly darken.

As he strode downstairs, he heard Xu Botao shouting—

"Everyone here, do you know what kind of filthy woman Wen Zhi really is?!"

Wen Zhi's face turned cold.

She struggled twice but couldn't break free.

"Xu Botao, if you keep this up, I'm calling the police again."

He yanked her closer.

People were everywhere—yet no one stepped in.

They just watched.

Xu Botao suddenly remembered university.

After he spread rumors, those foolish students had followed his lead—

mocking Wen Zhi, condemning her.

Back then, just like now, she'd stood alone.

Of course.

A woman like her—aloof, proud, untouchable—

men didn't dare covet her openly, women envied and resented her.

Even now, no one would help.

He sneered inwardly.

She's just a woman.

He had plenty of ways to break her.

Turning to the crowd, he cried loudly—

"I was her senior in university! She was a social butterfly—sleeping around! Back then, she seduced me! I only gave in because I couldn't resist—but when it was exposed, she claimed I assaulted her!"

"And because of her lies, I was expelled!"

He even squeezed out tears, shamelessly playing the victim.

"Yesterday, I merely ran into her at Jiang Airlines. Afraid I'd expose her dirty past, she called the police and had me arrested!"

"A woman that vicious—how can Jiang Airlines employ her?! I want to see your management! Fire her!"

Before his words even finished—

Someone violently yanked his shoulder from behind.

Xu Botao turned—

And froze.

It was the man he'd seen days ago in the restaurant.

Mo Tingyan's lips curved in a cold, careless smile as he grabbed Xu Botao by the collar and ruthlessly tore him away from Wen Zhi, slamming him to the floor.

"You think our company is some place where you can run wild?"

"Bullying our people—who gave you the guts?"

His gaze swept across the silent crowd.

Several onlookers flushed with shame.

Two male colleagues immediately stepped forward and shoved Xu Botao away from Wen Zhi.

Xu Botao cried indignantly,

"You can't gang up on me! I'm the victim!"

Mo Tingyan turned to Wen Zhi.

Cold fury cloaked his handsome face, dark and unfathomable.

"So many people watching," he said calmly.

"He's slandering you like this. Aren't you going to explain?"

Wen Zhi's voice was steady.

"An explanation is necessary—but it's best done in front of the police."

She pulled out her phone again and dialed.

Just like the day before, airport police arrived swiftly.

Wen Zhi stepped forward and handed over a voice recorder.

"Officer, this is Xu Botao. When he was a student at Jiang University, he was expelled after I reported him for molestation."

"A week ago, he encountered me again and began threatening me—demanding I help him find a job, or he'd ruin my reputation and career."

"This device contains recorded evidence of those calls."

Xu Botao panicked.

"That—that wasn't a threat! Officer, I was just joking with my junior!"

Mo Tingyan scoffed.

"Bullshit. You publicly defamed Wen Zhi just now. That's slander—and it's illegal."

"What? Didn't graduate college, so you don't know the law?"

Xu Botao stiffened, then stubbornly snapped back,

"I didn't defame her! I made mistakes in school, sure—but she was the one who seduced me!"

Mo Tingyan sneered.

"Wait here."

He turned and went upstairs.

Minutes later, he returned with a manila envelope, handing it to the officer.

"A few days ago, our flight attendant Wen Zhi feared retaliation and preemptively submitted this file to the company."

"Inside are records of two separate police reports she filed against Xu Botao years ago."

Wen Zhi froze.

She looked at Mo Tingyan—

she knew for a fact she had never prepared any of this.

Mo Tingyan didn't look back at her.

He continued coldly—

"There's also an audio recording. During his second molestation attempt on another student, he threatened her."

"He said that when he molested Wen Zhi and failed, she had no evidence. The police couldn't touch him."

"She became the target of public condemnation—while he walked away clean."

"He told the girl to cooperate—or she'd end up just like Wen Zhi."

Xu Botao's face went rigid.

He came to humiliate Wen Zhi—

but never imagined that someone would stand beside her this time.

In the end, Xu Botao was taken away.

Mo Tingyan turned to the crowd.

For once, his tone was cold and displeased.

"Still watching?"

"Standing by while a colleague is bullied—what's so entertaining about that?"

Then he looked at Wen Zhi.

"And you."

"You submitted evidence, yes—but you also caused a negative impact on the company."

"Write a 500-word self-reflection. Submit it through your chief purser."

"Otherwise—don't bother flying anymore."

Wen Zhi stared at Mo Tingyan's 'angrily composed' profile, her brows knitting tightly.

When had he prepared all of this?

Some of these materials would have been incredibly difficult to obtain.

How had he done it?

For the first time—

She felt certain.

She had never truly known the man beside her.
