Chapter 46: So It Was You

Wen Zhi stared at him in disbelief.

"How did you even find this place?"

Mo Tingjue looked at her seriously. "You refused to see me. You moved and didn't tell me where you lived. I had no choice but to follow you from the airport."

Disgust flooded Wen Zhi's face.

Thankfully, Mo Tingyan had gone to a meeting today—otherwise, he would have already been discovered.

The more she thought about Mo Tingjue's despicable behavior, the more nauseated she felt.

"Mo Tingjue, are you deaf?" she snapped coldly. "Stalking your ex-girlfriend after we've broken up—are you sick in the head? I have nothing left to say to you. Get the hell out of my house. Now."

Mo Tingyan had just said he was about to enter the compound.

If he ran into Mo Tingjue here, things would get even messier.

She tried to force him out, but Mo Tingjue ignored her completely. Instead, he barged in, strode to the sofa, and sat down.

His posture was straight, his expression stubborn.

"Since I've already come, I'm not leaving," he said firmly. "Xiao Zhi, if I want you back, we have to talk."

Wen Zhi clenched her fist slightly.

Calling Mo Tingyan now… would it be too late?

No—there was still time!

Her eyes flickered. Without hesitation, she pulled out her phone and dialed Mo Tingyan's number.

The call connected almost instantly.

On the other end, Mo Tingyan's teasing voice came through.

"You just hung up and now you're calling back? Miss me that much?"

He chuckled lazily. "Be good. I'm already downstairs. I'll be home soon, freshly washed and ready for you to enjoy, hm?"

Wen Zhi ignored his flirtation completely and said in a low, steady voice,

"Captain Mo, sorry to bother you. Have you left the airport yet? I need to ask you for a favor."

The moment she spoke, Mo Tingyan raised an eyebrow.

Something was wrong.

At the same time, Mo Tingjue shot up from the sofa and rushed toward her, reaching for her phone.

"Why are you calling him?!"

The instant that voice reached the car, the lazy amusement in Mo Tingyan's eyes vanished, replaced by a chilling darkness.

Wen Zhi turned slightly, put the phone on speaker, and held it behind her.

"Captain Mo, I live at Building 11, Unit 1201, Huarong Shuo Residence. Your younger brother, Mo Tingjue, followed me here, forced his way into my home, and is harassing me. If it's convenient, please come take him away."

Mo Tingyan's lips curved upward slowly.

This girl… quick on her feet.

Two minutes later and he would've walked straight into this mess himself.

"I see…" he drawled deliberately. "What a coincidence. I'm almost there. Hold on."

He hung up, glanced at his watch, and decided to give it exactly one minute before going upstairs.

Wen Zhi slipped her phone back into her pocket and looked coldly at Mo Tingjue.

His brows furrowed as his gaze suddenly dropped to the floor.

There—

A pair of men's slippers.

His heart tightened.

He bent down sharply and yanked open the shoe cabinet—

Men's shoes.

Multiple pairs.

His expression froze completely.

He looked up at Wen Zhi, disbelief flooding his voice.

"You're living with a man?"

Wen Zhi glanced at Mo Tingyan's shoes and replied calmly,

"Is that not allowed?"

Mo Tingjue slammed the cabinet door shut, his eyes blazing.

"No! Of course it's not allowed! Who is he?!

The man who gave you the million-dollar necklace?

The man who spent money to suppress me online?

Or—" his voice turned sharp, "—were they the same person all along?!"

Without waiting for her answer, he stormed deeper into the apartment.

"I'll find him myself," he roared. "I'll uncover that bastard's identity and tear him to pieces!"

Seeing him spiral out of control, Wen Zhi's heart jumped.

In Mo Tingyan's room—

There was still the captain's uniform she had ironed just yesterday.

She rushed forward, blocking Mo Tingjue's path.

"Are you insane?" she shouted. "This is my home! What right do you have to barge in? Get out!"

Mo Tingjue dodged her and kicked open another door.

That room was hers.

He glanced around once and immediately knew. Turning back out, he headed for the next room.

Wen Zhi glanced anxiously toward the entrance.

Why wasn't Mo Tingyan back yet…?

She ran forward, spreading her arms to block the doorway.

"Mo Tingjue, enough! Take one more step and I'll call the police!"

Mo Tingjue sneered.

"So this is his room, huh?"

Completely unhinged now, he shoved her aside and forced his way forward.

Wen Zhi stumbled back.

Just as she was about to fall—

A solid, warm chest caught her.

She turned around.

Mo Tingyan.

Relief flashed through her eyes as she subtly signaled him.

Mo Tingyan steadied her first—then, in the next second, strode forward and grabbed Mo Tingjue by the collar.

With brutal force, he hurled him across the room.

Bang—

Mo Tingjue crashed onto the floor, his back slamming hard into the sharp corner of the coffee table. A muffled groan escaped him.

He grimaced in pain and glared up.

"What are you doing?! Who gives you the right to interfere?!"

Mo Tingyan crouched down and slapped his face hard—once, twice—his voice colder than ice.

"Aren't you the one telling everyone I'm your brother?"

He sneered. "An elder brother is like a father. I'm teaching you, you shameless piece of trash—perfectly justified."

Mo Tingjue spat to the side and struggled to rise.

"You think you're any better?" he sneered. "Don't think I don't know why you got close to Wen Zhi. You just wanted to use her to get back at me—and the Mo family!"

Wen Zhi froze.

She instinctively looked at Mo Tingyan's back, calculation flickering in her eyes.

So that was why he had insisted on a lightning marriage?

Mo Tingyan didn't even bother responding.

He stood up, lifted his foot, and stomped down on Mo Tingjue's chest—forcing him back flat onto the floor.

Looking down at him from above, his gaze was ruthless.

"You had the guts to cheat, but not the guts to bear the consequences?"

He sneered. "Pathetic. Apologize to Wen Zhi."

"Why should I—"

Before he could finish, Mo Tingyan pressed harder with his foot.

"Because," he said calmly, "you broke into her home. Even if I killed you today, it'd be your own damn fault."

Mo Tingjue's breathing grew labored, his face flushing red.

Wen Zhi panicked, afraid things would go too far. She hurried forward and said quietly,

"Captain Mo, forget the apology. I don't want it. Please just take him away. And don't ever let him come here again."

Mo Tingyan didn't move his foot.

He crossed his arms lazily, bent down slightly, and locked eyes with Mo Tingjue—

dark, predatory, like a beast about to break free.

A chilling, bloodthirsty aura filled the room.

Slowly, clearly, he said—

"I said.

Apologize."
