Chapter 53 - vol 52

Ryan woke up slowly, feeling warm… too warm.

His cheek was pressed against something firm, solid, and radiating heat. An arm was wrapped around his waist. A steady heartbeat thumped under his ear.

For a second, he melted into it — the warmth, the comfort, the safety.

Then his eyes snapped open.

Kia.

He was lying on Kia's bare chest.

His entire body went stiff immediately.

Oh no. Oh no. Oh NO.

He remembered flashes—

Kia's hands on him.

His own hands in Kia's hair.

Purring.

Straddling him.

Kissing him like he had been starving.

Whining for him to stay.

Ryan's face turned bright, flaming red.

He shifted slowly, hoping Kai was still asleep—

"Trying to escape, bunny?"

Ryan froze.

Kia's voice was low, amused, and too damn sexy for this early in the morning. When Ryan dared to look up, Kia was already watching him with half-lidded eyes, warm and a little smug… but ridiculously gentle.

Ryan immediately turned his face away, hiding it behind his hands.

"I—I wasn't… escaping," he mumbled through his fingers.

Kia's chest vibrated with a soft chuckle. "Mhmm. Then what were you doing?"

"Moving," Ryan said stiffly.

"Running."

Kia corrected softly, brushing Ryan's hair out of his face.

"Like you always do when you're embarrassed."

Ryan nearly combusted on the spot.

"I'm not embarrassed," he lied.

Kia raised a brow. "Your ears are red."

"They're always red."

"Your neck is red too."

Ryan slapped a pillow over his face.

"I hate you."

Kia laughed softly — that quiet, low sound Ryan had missed for years but would never admit. He tugged the pillow away gently and tilted Ryan's chin up with one finger.

"Look at me, bunny."

Ryan stubbornly stared at the blanket.

"Ryan."

Kia's voice dropped lower — soft, commanding.

"You didn't do anything wrong."

Ryan swallowed hard. "I… I was in heat. I wasn't thinking clearly."

"I know," Kia said. "That's why I didn't let things go too far."

Ryan's face burned hotter.

Kia smirked, leaning closer.

"You do remember you climbed on top of me, right?"

Ryan shoved his face into his hands again. "Please stop talking."

Kia chuckled and dropped a kiss onto the top of Ryan's head.

"But you were so cute."

Ryan nearly died. "Kia—!"

"So soft," Kia continued, teasing now, "so warm… purring for me—"

"OH MY GOD STOP!"

Kia laughed harder, but then his tone softened instantly, warm and sincere.

"Bunny," he murmured, cupping Ryan's cheek, "nothing happened that you should regret. You just needed comfort. And I'm glad you trusted me enough to take it."

That made Ryan freeze.

Because it was true.

He had trusted Kia. Instinctively. Completely. Like his body remembered something his mind refused to acknowledge.

Ryan's voice dropped to a whisper.

"Did I… do anything stupid?"

Kia smiled softly, brushing a thumb over his cheek.

"You begged me to stay."

Ryan choked. "I DID WHAT—?!"

"And you cuddled me so tightly," Kia added, "that even if I wanted to move… I wouldn't have been able to."

Ryan covered his face again, groaning loudly. "I can't live on this planet anymore."

Kia laughed—soft, warm—and pulled him back into his chest.

"Too late," he whispered against Ryan's ear. "You're already here with me."

Ryan's heart stuttered.

He wanted to push him away.

He wanted to stay exactly where he was.

He hated how good Kia smelled.

He hated how safe he felt.

He hated that he liked it.

Kia rested his chin on Ryan's head, voice low and gentle:

"When you're ready, we'll talk about last night. Until then… I'll behave."

Ryan peeked up at him suspiciously. "…You promise?"

Kia smirked. "I'll try. No guarantees if you start purring again."

"KIA!"

His laughter filled the room again — soft, real, and just for his bunny. And he was glad that Ryan has let the cold and nonchalant facade down and is now is bunny
