Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Embers of a forgotten flame (part 4)

Immortal Flame flashed forward the instant he saw Yamaru's grin. He moved with such speed the air around him practically exploded.

And by the time Yamaru's grin faded, Immortal Flame had already attacked, his fist just a few inches from his face. It smashed into him however that wasn't all. A burst of flames expanded on impact. Yamaru couldn't react before he was flying, the entirety of his head covered in smoke.

Immortal Flame looked at his fist. A frown crowning his face. In his dragonoid form his body became one with his flames, every motion he did carried with it innate traces of his flames.

And just now, he was sure that his punch had managed to land. His flames however had not.

Yamaru managed to stop him self 20 meters away. The smoke around his head gone to reveal his pale face. There was a slight scratch at the center of his face however there were no signs of flame damage.

How had he avoided that?

Yamaru gave him no time to think. His clawed hands struck forward and Immortal Flame felt the space fold and twist before three distinct claw shaped scythes shot forward.

However unlike Yamaru's previous spatial attacks that were somewhat translucent, these ones were the dense color of black. It moved as though it wanted to swallow light itself.

Immortal Flame's aura rose in response, a pillar of flames piercing into the skies like the eruption from a super volcano. Yamaru's scythes struck against it however the flames spread towards them, engulfing them, burning them away as though pieces of paper to a fireplace.

'This unpleasant energy' Immortal Flame could hardly finished the thought when Yamaru appeared above him. His leg descending in an axe kick.

His leg tore through Immortal Flame's aura and quickly approached the dragonoid's head. Immortal Flame wasn't slow to react at the last second he brought up his forearm. A shockwave rolled out as the ground beneath his feet sank.

Yamaru had a grin on his face when he saw Immortal Flame's grim expression however that did not last long. A split second later Immortal Flame's free arm burst into a shroud of flames, so hot the remained water immediately evaporated while the mud below dried, before it shot up in a uppercut of his own.

Yamaru retreated just as a dense pillar of flames exploded from his fist.

The soles of his feet barely touched the ground when a Immortal Flame's wings stretched to their full wing span.

"You reek of the Abyss!" Immortal Flame's eyes flashed as he gathered Aether at the tips of his wings.

Seeing this, Yamaru was confused at first, wondering what he was doing. And a few seconds later he knew exactly what was going.

Two dense masses of flames gathered. They formed two large balls of fire each the size of two men at the diameter. And that's not all, Immortal Flame's will poured into them making them far stronger more concentrated and focused.

"Perish before my flames" At his voice the two blazing orbs tore through the space between them and headed straight for Yamaru. They left the ground below them completely razed, deep ridges of molten rock taking form.

As the two giant orbs flew his way, Yamaru couldn't help but think that two miniature suns were hurtling towards him. If it was the old him he certainly would have been finished, that is if it were the old him.

The tattoos at his chest glowed with an even greater ferocity, the sickly veins along his body becoming more and more clear as his body took a solid horse stance. His pulled upon the limits of his affinity. He raised his hands forward.

And as he condensed the space in front of him, pouring all his mental focus to bring it together and form and solid wall, a drop of blood fell from his nose.

"Argh!" he groaned. It felt as though his head was splitting but he didn't stop. He pulled on the other power, from his tattoos.

Another one of his master's work who called them the 'Mark of Retribution'. He did not know where they pulled their strength from but he trusted his master. That was enough for him to use it to its fullest capacity.

The spatial barrier was formed, however as both miniature suns collided against Yamaru could feel them eating away at it. The flames so intense the seemed to be burning through space itself.

'Immortal Flame…I'll admit it you truly are a monster' Yamaru thought, slightly dejected however the pulsing power that swept through this veins gave him encouragement.

That's right he didn't have only his power to rely on. His mouth opened in a voiceless scream as he pulled on more and more strength from the Mark, the black in his eyes began to spill over to his pupils as well and like that his Amethyst eyes were slowly consumed by it and with it the last shred of sanity.

The spatial barrier that was being eaten through finally took a solid black color.

Immortal Flame pushed his will outward, propelling his two orbs of fire. When he felt the space shift once more. Yamaru was still fighting back. He could respect that, he could respect the act of fighting even when he knew that he was without a doubt wholly surpassed. What he could never respect was tapping into the powers of the Abyss.

It had to be understood. The Abyss appeared before the end of a worlds lifespan and when it did it came to consume.

1000 years ago, the Abyss had appeared before Astaroth before its time he remembered how the creatures of the void had descended upon their world with minds hollowed out leaving nothing but the base instinct to devour every life before it.

It was a profane power so to see someone try to covert such power…

'You are beyond redemption, truly you embody Discord a fitting title'

Just when he had this thought, he felt intense resistance. It felt as though his will had slammed into a solid wall.

"What?" Immortal Flame muttered beside himself.

No wall should block him. He should have been able to burn through it. But that clearly wasn't the case here.
