A system notification pops up, but he doesn't even glance at it.

He walks towards the entrance of the camp and sees goblins there shout "ENEMY ENEMY" in aranic, but his facial expression doesn't change. Silent rage as he places her on the ground turning his back to the enemy, but for a moment sadness overwhelms him as he looks at her lifeless corpse.

While looking at her, he says 'Gather'. As all of the blood in forest start to come to him, like a vortex pulling everything in. He coughs out blood and begins to bleed out of different orifices on his face and yet he perseveres.

An orb of blood starts to gather up in the air and it keeps increasing in size. The goblins in the village start to see it. Shocked, they stand there just watching out of fear.

His arm stretched out with 2 fingers pointing at where the orb is in the sky, he moves his hand down directly at the village like he is finger painting the village with tears and blood.

A mind fractured to oblivion.

The orb hits the centre of the village with waves going in every direction covering every inch of the village with goblins and buildings alike covered in blood. With his arm still stretched out in the direction the village, the blood starts to flow out hitting the goblins that rushed out for him and he blocks the wave of blood from hitting himself and Sophie.

'Singularity' he says as he clicks his fingers. The goblins at the entrance implode one by one with each of them watching the other die. Women, children and everyone alike. Buildings imploding while the goblins rush towards the chieftain.

"Get out of here" shouts a goblin guard that ran in from outside...

Boom... Splat

He imploded Infront of the chieftain. Moments of hesitation cause him to remember his kin. He runs out covered in blood stumbling over seeing the horrific sight.

Splat..Boom..Thud

Bodies dropping onto the ground with others just turning into waste. "My..." with his mouth wide open as he can't even comprehend the situation.

"NAJA" he shouts for his child bearer and he sees her rushing towards him in the midst of the bombardments, having narrowly gotten past another goblin that imploded.

He gasps for a moment in relief to her not dying and before she gets to him

Boom

His smile wiped off his face witnessing this atrocity. He stood their in awe for a moment like he couldn't believe what just happened. Mouth agape, then nothing. He drops to the ground trying to hold onto anything from his wife, but it's just pieces.

Naja... His mind scrambles and brings him back to the beginning that he once had. An outcast that was abandoned by his settlement as he got declared weak and useless.

A young Naja approached him to help him and later that one visit turned into several and later became the pillar that allowed him to become a leader like no other. He had more goblins in his settlement then the one that he was removed from.

A weak chieftain that was blessed with power and love, grew to become a leader that devours. He took revenge on those that cursed and abused him, solidifying his position as a leader.

My everything...Naja

"How dare you humanize a monster" says Arthur.

He walks towards the village centre with the explosions dying down, but raging with fire all around.

Chink-chink-chink-chink

The chains grip onto his ankles and his wrists lifting him into the air. Chains made out the blood of his people. Through all the noise, the chieftain hears it. Steps that are getting closer and closer. The chieftain looks down in fear, but if he looks up he will know that this is all real. Sweat dripping down his face and his anxiety building up.

"Look at me" says Arthur. He hears him, but won't look.

"LOOK" "AT" "ME" says Arthur using a chain a wrapped around his neck to pull his head up.

The chieftain finally sees it. Death incarnate with fire, blood and what looks to be corpses riddled all over.

"You've taken someone dear to me" says Arthur as he starts to tear up. "So I will return the favour a hundred times over".

"Then you're just like me...a monster" the chieftain replies, his voice barely a whisper above the destruction and rain surrounding them.

"I became a monster because you wouldn't let me live as a human". "or maybe I've been a monster this whole time" "Why does it matter anymore.." he sighs as he wipes the blood on his hands over his face and hair.

"You killed my people for one human?" the chieftain asks, stepping into the light. "We may both be monsters, but we are not the same".

"That one human has more worth than your entire bloodline" he says while softly gazing upon her. He switches his focus back the chieftain saying "Rise".

Blood droplets start to rise from the ground and form arrows. They rain down on him with each arrow piercing his body. Arthur walks away with Sophie in his hands and leaves the village with a rift opening up at the entrance.

As the rift swallows the light of the burning village, the silence that follows is heavier than the screams ever were. Arthur doesn't look back. He can feel the weight of Sophie in his arms, cold and the endless.

With the shackles dissolving causing his corpse to fall into the scorched earth like a macabre monument to Arthur's descent. A voice echoes out as the fiery rain consumes the chieftain whole on his fall...

"We are not the same".

Step by step, as the bloody mud clasps on his feet dragging him down, Arthur continues to move forward towards the shimmering rift to escape his achievements.

The transition between worlds tears at his skin, but he feels nothing. The monster he embraced hasn't just taken his humanity, it has hollowed out his capacity for pain leaving only a frigid pulsing power where his heart used to be.

[Reward: ….]

He doesn't want to look as the pain starts to swell up even more, crying as he holds her body against his. Weeping and shivering he holds her close. He cries out to feel her warmth again, but with her cold lifeless body their is none.

"Sophie..." he calls her name out one last time.
