Chapter 5: The Great Gathering
Five years after Ren and Yuki first set out beyond Eldoria's borders, representatives from all seven beacons gathered in Akiyama for the first Great Gathering of Balance. People from dozens of lands filled the city—wearing clothes made from materials found nowhere else, speaking languages that sounded like music or wind or water, bringing foods that combined flavors from across the world.
In the center of the city, a new structure had been built—a circular hall where all seven beacons were represented, their crystals arranged around the Crystal of Unity in a pattern that mirrored the stars.
Ren stood before the gathering, his voice carrying across the crowd through magic and technology combined. "Our ancestors built the beacons to maintain balance in their own lands," he said. "But they knew that balance could not be contained within borders. They built them to connect, to share, to grow together."
He activated the connection between all seven beacons, and light flowed between them, creating a web that covered the sky over Akiyama. People gasped as they saw images of their home lands appearing in the light—frozen peaks, volcanic fields, underwater cities, floating mountains, desert kingdoms, great plains, and green forests all connected by threads of light.
Yuki stepped forward next. "Today, we make a promise to each other," she said. "We will share our knowledge, resolve our disputes through understanding, and work together to maintain balance not just in our own lands, but in the world we share."
The representatives from each beacon came forward one by one, adding their own promises— to protect the oceans, to keep the air clean, to nurture the earth, to use fire wisely, to respect the cold, to honor the desert's harsh beauty, and to keep the plains fertile.
