Chapter 1:planning our future.

It was a cold night and there was a full moon.Larry sat in the chair at the far back of his grandma's porch.Tears running down his face as he looked at a pendant in his hand.Come on lad it's time for bed ,his grandma said as she entered the porch .She looks at him and shakes her head sadly, walking closer and placing her hand on his cheeks to wipe tears running down .Come on lad let's go you need to rest up you got school tomorrow .Larry nods and walks slowly to his room. His grandma escorts him to his room and wishes him a good night sleep.Larry woke up the next day to his alarm.Hahh,he sighs as he sits on his bed ,staring at the ceiling."It's going to be a very long day again"he says as he gets up to go shower. He puts on the pendant he was holding last night and heads for school.Look, look some girls standing at a distance said as they looked at Larry.Hes soo handsome and I heard he got straight A's they whispered to theirselves.Arghh, don't they have anything to do,we have our final exams next week you know.He walked quietly to the stairway heading to class ."YoYo sup Larry" , Alvin said he ran towards Larry.Hey larry mind if we walk to class together? As in going to class together ,why do you look more lively than you usually are?And if I'm correct this always happens the week before the exam."Well it's because the week before the exam is the only week I don't play video games"Alvin replied.Huh,you really are a dumb head"Larry said as they walked to class. In class Alvin sat on his seat close to Larry and they started learning.Larry noticed Alvin wasn't getting the concept so he asked if Alvin was confused."Absolutely you guessed it right"Alvin replied without hesitation.Larry with a creepy smile started to say"hey, hey Alvin you know something sticks properly if you give it time and revise it over and over instead of cramming everything a week before exam".Alvin looks at him and replies while laughing"sure that's why I need you to teach me all you know so that I can cram it over and over till next week ,when it's going to stick in my head".Larry , speechless asked him where he didn't understand.(everything) Alvin said.Hahh he exhales as he looks at Alvin ,with thoughts running through his head"how does this idiot manage to be the schools third best student if all he does is play video games?".They continued their studies till the teacher walked into the class.During break Alvin rushed off to his hideout to go learn,Larry on the other hand searched everywhere for him but was nowhere to be found."Argh why do I even care where that disturbing videogame crazy guy is,let me just go learn something "he said as he turned to walk back to class."Wow look its larry the schools beat student"some girls started to whisper to themselves the moment they saw him.He just ignores them and walks slowly to class . 'Damnit, that guy is always getting the attention of the girls by just walking past them meanwhile we joined the school soccer team but not even a single girl talks about us' some guys standing at a distance said as they saw Larry pass by the girls.Larry sat on his chair getting ready to learn when he felt Alvin's presence in the class. He puts his head on the table as he thinks to himself "when did the demon get here?"

Sup bro;Alvin said as he approached larry.larry pretends to be asleep and does not reply. How can you be asleep when a teacher just entered the class?Alvin asked himself.Larry hearing him say that woke up to verify. That damn kid ,how dare he trick me"he says as in his head when he finds out there was no teacher in class.Alvin just drops a pile of papers on his table and then turns to his seat.Larry picks up the first paper and reads the inscription on it saying "test on what Larry taught me this morning".Larry then opens it out of curiosity and he is shocked to see several questions and answers on the things he taught Alvin a while ago.'Hey Alvin did you solve all this during break?'he asked.'Yeah, just check whether it's correct or not since I just crammed it into my head this morning'.Alvin then puts his head on the table falling asleep in the nice cold breeze coming through the window. 'Humph, you sometimes surprise me with that serious side of yours' Larry said to himself as he watched Alvin dose off.

'Settle down class' the teacher said as he got into the classroom.Larry who just finished examining Alvins paper throws his earazer at Alvin. Still out cold Alvin continues to snooze.'Hey Alvin wake up sir Chris is in class' he says as he bends sideways to pick his eraser.'Fuck english class' Alvin said as he turned his head to face the other direction.Exam is next week and you still manage to sleep in English class, what a lazy bag of bones you are Alvin.Just pray your luck as the schools third best student due to miraculously cramming last minute doesn't run out during this exam."Okay class ,open to page 6....."

The siren rang and school was over, all the kids scattered on the compound like ants, Larry hurried off home as soon as the alarm rang."Stupid Larry, running off like he got no friends at school" Alvin said as he packed his stuff to leave.

J

ust as he was about to leave, a girl from the next class stopped him by calling his name with a light voice. He turns to her and stares at her for a while trying to remember her name."was it Christina or christabel or Christine he taught to himself as he stared at her".'Oh high there Christina 'he says as he never notices he has been staring at her for a while. 'Actually my name is christine' she replies trying to correct him.well ok what can we do for you?,Alvin asked her.Dont tell me she is going to ask me out)was all that was running through Alvin's head.

Christine:actually I was hoping you could help me with some math problems.

Alvin:huh, math problems?

Christine:you don't have to do it if you don't want to.I can just ask someone else.

Alvin:well sure no prob, what topic is it?

Christine:oh,well it's calculus

Alvin:sure thing, we are gonna be done in a jiffy .let's just find a quiet place like the library and let's start.

Christine:ok I'll go get my friend.

She hurrys off back to class.'I wonder who that friend of hers is'Alvin asked himself. He sits on the chair in the hall way to wait for her.Silence spread through the school that even the tiniest sound echoed for a long time.Alvin could hear the birds sing as they returned to their nest after a long day.Hahh,he sighs as he gets onto his feet.He walks to the vending machine and grabs himself a can of cola.

I'm back, she said as she got closer.Alvin turned around and put the tin in the bin.He looks behind Christine and sees a fair girl standing behind her(Christine is a black).

Christine:this is Akari ,my class mate and she moved here about two months ago from Japan.

Alvin stares at Akari for sometime with, taught running through his head 'omg is she really from Japan?man I'm Lucky's

Alvin:I'm Alvin ,hope we get along well.

Akari:thanks Alvin I'm looking forward to it.

Alvin:ok then let's get going

Akari and Christine:ok

They walk together to the library and sit at the last seat at the far corner of the room .The setting suns beautiful rays passing through the window and falling on Akari as she sat down next to christine.'wow she soo pretty 'Alvin said as he sat facing her.'ok,so let's get started'he said as he flipped open the text book.

Alvin:so what part don't you understand

Akari:that part about calculus

Alvin flips to the page about calculus.Akari leaned a little closer to Alvin's side of the table, peeking at the calculus page like it was some kind of ancient prophecy.

Akari: "Umm... this part. Limits. I don't really get why the answer becomes that number."

Alvin nodded slowly, pretending to be wise even though his brain was still half-asleep from English class.

Alvin: "Oh yeah, limits are easy... once you stop panicking."

He grabbed a pen and drew a tiny diagram beside the question.

"So basically, it's like... when x gets close to a number, but doesn't actually touch it. Like how you get close to the fridge at night but don't actually take the food because your mom is awake."

Christine snorted a little too loudly and covered her mouth.

Akari laughed softly - and that caught Alvin off guard. Her laugh was light, almost like she was trying not to disturb the whole library.

Christine: "Alvin you're such a clown."

Alvin: "And yet... somehow a clown you came to for calculus help."

Christine rolled her eyes playfully. Akari watched them banter, smiling like she was happy the atmosphere wasn't awkward.

After a few minutes of explanation, Akari's eyes suddenly lit up.

Akari: "Ooh! I get it now. So the limit is approaching... not touching."

Alvin: "Exactly! See? You're smart. Way smarter than me in English class at least."

Christine: "Everyone is smarter than you in English class."

They all giggled - even Alvin couldn't argue with that.

A quiet moment settled in. The sunlight was fading, turning orange, then pink. The library felt warmer and softer, like a scene in a teen drama that's foreshadowing something major.

Akari looked at Alvin again.

Akari: "Thank you... for helping. You explain things in a funny way. It makes it easy."

Alvin felt something warm crawl up his neck.

Was he blushing? Nahhh... definitely the sunset. 100%.

Alvin: "Uh... yeah, no problem. Anytime."

Then Christine grabbed her bag.

Christine: "We should start heading home before the librarians kick us out."

They packed up and walked to the school gate together. Christine's mom's car was already parked outside. Akari gave a shy little wave.

Akari: "See you tomorrow, Alvin."

Alvin: "Yeah... see you."

He watched them leave. Christine jumped into the front seat, but Akari paused at the door, turning back one more time before closing it.

And then-

Alvin's heart did a weird backflip he wasn't prepared for.

He walked home, replaying the moment in his head.

Did she just... look back at me twice?

Bro... twice??

He shook his head, laughing at himself.

Tomorrow was going to be interesting.

The bell rang for break, and Alvin was already halfway out of his seat, grabbing his textbook like it was some kind of passport to destiny.

Larry watched him with that "I know this guy too well" face.

Larry: "Where are you running to like that? Japan?"

Alvin: "Bro relax, I'm just going to the library. Akari said she might pass through today."

Larry leaned back, arms crossed.

Larry: "Yeah, yeah, I know. But listen carefully..."

He pointed a finger dramatically at Alvin's chest.

"If you don't study - or cram, or whatever magical nonsense you do - you will fail your exams because of a girl."

Alvin froze.

Alvin: "Bro... that's crazy. I would never fail because of a girl."

Larry: "You almost failed English yesterday because of sleep. I'm not taking chances."

Alvin clicked his tongue.

Alvin: "Okay okay, I get it. Study first, Akari second."

Larry: "Good. Because if you fail and start crying, I'm not consoling you."

Alvin grabbed his bag, rolling his eyes.

Alvin: "Why would I cry when I literally have you to yell at me?"

Larry smirked.

Larry: "Exactly. Now go before you explode talking about Japan again."

Alvin laughed and headed toward the door.

Alvin: "I'm just going to say hi and maybe help with calculus. Chill."

Larry: "I am chill. You're the one acting like an anime protagonist who just met the transfer student."

Alvin waved him off and walked out, but he couldn't stop the stupid smile forming on his face.

He didn't know if it was the caffeine from breakfast...

or the thought of seeing Akari again.

Maybe both.

Alvin pushed open the library door quietly, trying not to draw attention. He wasn't there for anything dramatic today - Larry's voice was still echoing in his head:

"If you don't study or cram, you will FAIL because of a girl."

So yeah... Alvin decided to be responsible for once.

He found an empty table near the window, dropped his books, and muttered:

Alvin: "Alright, integration... don't embarrass me today."

He opened the textbook - and instantly regretted it.

Alvin: "Why does this look like hieroglyphics? What is this ∫ thing even doing here... dancing?"

He was so busy complaining under his breath that he didn't notice someone entering the aisle behind him.

A soft voice broke the silence.

Akari: "Umm... Alvin?"

Alvin almost jumped out of his skin.

He looked up - and there she was, holding her notebook to her chest, the sunlight behind her like some dramatic anime entrance.

Alvin: "Oh-uh-Akari? Hey! I wasn't... talking to myself or anything."

She giggled quietly.

Akari: "I didn't say you were."

She walked closer, peeking at his open page.

Akari: "Integration? You're learning that too?"

Alvin blinked.

Alvin: "Wait... you're doing integration right now as well?"

Akari nodded.

Akari: "Christine is absent today, so I came to study alone... but I got stuck."

She showed him her notebook - a page full of half-erased attempts.

Alvin let out a tiny laugh.

Alvin: "Damn... you erased the poor page like ten times."

Akari covered her face.

Akari: "It's embarrassing..."

Alvin: "Nah, it's kinda cute."

Akari froze, cheeks going pink. Alvin internally screamed.

Alvin (in his head): BRO WHY DID YOU SAY THAT OUT LOUD-

To save himself, he cleared his throat and flipped to a fresh page.

Alvin: "Anyway! Uh-let's figure this out together. I'm also confused so... two confused brains equal one working brain, right?"

Akari laughed softly again.

They pulled their seats closer, their shoulders almost touching. The library was quiet except for pages flipping and the occasional cough from the librarian who looked like she hated teenagers.

Alvin started explaining, drawing an arrow and writing:

∫ x² dx = (x³ / 3) + C

Alvin: "So basically, when you integrate, you increase the power by one. Like leveling up in a game. Then divide by that same number."

Akari leaned closer, eyes sparkling like she finally understood something.

Akari: "Ohhh... so it's like the reverse of differentiation?"

Alvin: "Exactly! You got it."

She smiled widely - the proud, relieved kind of smile that makes someone look brighter.

Alvin felt his chest do a little boom-boom.

They spent the next twenty minutes going through problems, teasing each other whenever one made a silly mistake.

At one point:

Akari: "Wait... so ∫ 1 dx is just x + C?"

Alvin: "Yeah, it's literally the chillest integration in the universe."

Akari: "I thought it was something scarier."

Alvin: "Nah, the scary ones show up later. But don't worry... I'll help you beat them too."

Akari stared at him for a second - not a normal stare, but that quiet, soft stare people do when they feel safe.

Akari: "Thank you, Alvin. I... like studying with you."

Alvin looked away quickly before his heart embarrassed him.

Alvin: "Y-yeah... same."

They kept studying until the librarian announced closing time.

As they walked out together, Akari brushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

Akari: "Can we... study again tomorrow? If you're free?"

Alvin felt his whole brain explode like fireworks.

Alvin: "Yeah. Definitely. Tomorrow's cool."

She gave him a shy wave and headed toward the gate.

Alvin stood there for a second, replaying everything.

Then he whispered to himself:

Alvin: "Larry's never gonna believe this..."

The next day,Alvin rushed into class after break, sliding into the seat next to Larry like he was about to announce breaking news.

Larry: "Why do you look like you just unlocked a cheat code?"

Alvin: "Bro. BRO. You won't believe what happened."

Larry didn't even look up from his notes.

Larry: "If this is about Akari again, I'm already bored."

Alvin: "No-well, yes-but listen! We ended up studying integration together. Like, actually studying. She's smart, dude. Like... annoyingly smart."

Larry finally lifted his head with that "I told you so" stare.

Larry: "Wow. Studying. Shocking. It's almost like that's what the library is for."

Alvin: "Man, you're ruining the moment-"

Larry: "No, I'm grounding the moment. Did you even learn anything or were you just staring at her pencil movements like an idiot?"

Alvin scoffed.

Alvin: "I learned stuff!"

Larry: "Name one formula."

Alvin opened his mouth.

Paused.

Blink.

Alvin: "...something with dx."

Larry smacked his forehead.

Larry: "I swear, if you fail because you're crushing on the transfer student-"

Alvin: "I'm NOT crushing!"

Larry: "Bro, you sound like someone who's crushing."

Before Alvin could defend himself again, the bell rang for the next break. Larry packed up his books.

Larry: "Go walk around or get a drink or something. Your brain clearly needs oxygen."

Alvin: "And you don't?"

Larry: "Mine's functioning. Yours is love-jammed."

Alvin shoved him playfully.

Alvin: "I'm going to the vending machine. Want anything?"

Larry: "Yeah. A brain for you."

Alvin didn't bother replying-he just waved him off and headed out of the room.

---

The hallway was quieter than usual, sunlight spilling in through the tall windows. Alvin stretched his shoulders, trying to shake off Larry's teasing.

The

As he turned the corner toward the vending machine, he froze.

Akari was already there.

Her backpack was slung over one shoulder, and she was standing on her toes, trying to reach the top row of the machine like it was mocking her.

She tapped the glass.

Akari: "Why is the strawberry milk always so high..."

Alvin let out a tiny laugh without meaning to.

She turned, surprised-and then her face softened.

Akari: "Oh! Alvin."

Alvin: "Uh-hey. Need help?"

She stepped aside with a tiny sigh.

Akari: "Yes, please. The school hates short people."

Alvin reached up easily and pressed the button for her drink.

Alvin: "There. No acrobatics needed."

Akari: "Thank you."

She picked up the milk, twisting the straw in.

Akari: "Are you studying again? For integration?"

Alvin: "Yeah. Larry told me I'm gonna fail if I don't."

Akari giggled.

Akari: "Larry sounds... correct."

Alvin: "Hey-rude."

But she smiled up at him, and the teasing didn't sting at all.

Akari: "Do you want to study again later? You learn fast... even if you pretend not to."

Alvin blinked, caught off guard.

Alvin: "Y-yeah, sure. I mean-yeah. That'd be cool."

Akari sipped her drink, looking satisfied.

Akari: "Then I'll see you after class."

She started walking away, and Alvin just stood there like someone unplugged his brain for a moment.

When she disappeared around the corner, he finally exhaled.

Alvin: "...Larry is never gonna let me hear the end of this."

Alvin walked back toward class, muttering, "Larry is never gonna let me hear the end of this."

As soon as he stepped inside, Larry caught the look on his face and sighed like he already knew.

Larry: "You look suspicious."

Alvin: "Bro... what? I just walked in."

Larry: "Exactly. That's the suspicious part."

Alvin dropped into his seat.

Alvin: "She asked if we could study again after class."

Larry closed his notebook slowly, giving him that deadpan stare.

Larry: "...Perfect. Another distraction. Just what you needed
