After what seemed like forever, finally all the participants had chosen their 3 things.
The being somehow knew once all of them had chosen all 3 things, and began speaking again.
[Before you all go, I will explain why I turned you all into children.]
Lucky had been curious about this as well, so he was eager to hear the reason.
[It's to make it easier for you all to adapt to the worlds in that universe. I turned you all into children so you can all have a fresh start and to also make it fair for anyone who's close to dying due to old age.]
[Now, since the planets each of you are going to are randomized, the unlucky ones will be treated as monsters if they don't fit in. Thus, I wish you all the best, and hope that you land on a planet with your species as its native inhabitants.]
*CLAP*
Once the being clapped, everyone instantly fell asleep again, and were teleported to their randomized planet.
****
Lucky felt his skin itch as he opened his eyes.
'Where am I?'
"Mooooo!"
'A cow?'
As the sun was at its highest point, Lucky stood up and began investigating his surroundings.
He was on top of a pile of hay, confused and somehow wet. His white shirt and pants were soaked in muddy water.
Surrounding him were a bunch of cows minding their own business and eating grass.
'Phew, calm down. This must be the planet I got sent to,' thought Lucky.
Looking down, he found 2 objects laying beside his feet.
'The vial and the book I chose are here? So where's that dragon thing? Did it not come in the form of an object?'
After a couple minutes of observing his surroundings to see if the Draconic Mind wasn't an actual tangible object, he noticed something weird.
"MOOOO!" One of the cows mooed.
He could understand what the cow was voicing out.
Although it was an unintelligible sound, he could somehow intuit its closest meaning.
In Lucky's mind, he could understand what the cow wanted, 'food, huh?'
He began focusing on the other cows' moos.
'Food. Water. Tired. Sleepy. Wow, I can roughly understand their moos? I think I get how Draconic Mind works,' thought Lucky.
It seemed that Draconic Mind did not instantly make him understand all languages, but it merely accelerated his understanding by an unknown amount of speed.
'Since cows are simple animals, it was probably easy for me to understand them this quickly. But for humans, at this rate, a few hours or days would be my guess?'
He shoved that thought into a corner, he could always revisit it later.
For now, he needed to get out of this cow pen.
Luckily, the fence was made of wood and was easily climbable.
After climbing out with his book and vial, he scoured his surroundings.
Near the farm he was in was a huge pine tree forest. In the opposite of that forest, was this farm and a sizeable farmhouse.
Next to the farm was a huge barn, probably full of other cows.
A bit further away was what seemed to be a small town or village.
Lucky had to make a choice, 'do I go to that settlement first or do I go to the forest and become a vampire?'
Going to that village or town had the risk of him finding out the people there weren't humans. For all he knew, they could be xenophobic and might try to hunt him down.
But if he went to the forest, what was he going to do there other than becoming a vampire.
He already assumed that vampires couldn't stand the sun or might even die if they get exposed to it.
So the forest was perfect cover for a vampire.
*GURGLE*
He was also getting hungry, so he had to make a choice now.
'Fuck it. Let's go to the forest and become a vampire first. It's still noon, but I'm pretty sure I might die of starvation at this point. Might as well get the powers of a vampire and hunt for my own food,' he thought.
And so, after walking a lengthy distance into a dark part of the pine forest, he opened and drank the contents of the vial.
'Ooh, that kinda tasted like strawberry.'
After a couple minutes went by, he started to get bored.
'Isn't something supposed to happen? Did I get scammed?'
After waiting a bit more, he began to think that he was truly scammed.
'No, maybe the changes are so subtle that I didn't notice.'
When he went to a nearby puddle, even though it was dark, he could still see his reflection.
'Are the vampires a more logical of beings than I initially thought?'
But then, he realized something, 'wait, why am I able to see my reflection this clearly in a very dark place?'
He realized that his eyesight in the dark had dramatically improved.
'I can also hear better and smell better! Haha it worked!'
Going to a nearby tree, he quickly climbed the tree.
Having never once properly climbed a tree in his 46 years of living, he was giddy on the fact that he could do it now.
His body's athleticism improved greatly.
When he climbed down the tree, he began stretching his limbs in all sorts of ways.
'No way, joint hypermobility as well?'
Then, he tried jumping.
"WAAAH!!!" He screamed.
Turns out, his small 1 meter tall body could jump as high as 3 meters. Since he had agoraphobia, he was scared shitless.
'I almost had a heart attack! No wait, why is my heart still beating?'
The vampire was even more scientific of a being than he thought.
'I am still breathing as well. Does this mean, I can still die of suffocation or even a heart attack?'
'No, wait. Did I get scammed and not actually get a vampire serum but a superhuman serum instead?' Questioned Lucky.
There was only one more way to find out.
'I need to check how my body would react to the sun.'
Thus, he walked back towards the entrance of the forest.
Finding a spot where the sun's light went through, he reached out his right hand towards it.
And soon enough, his skin started getting itchy.
A couple minutes later, his skin started becoming inflammed.
Then, as a few more minutes passed, it started blistering.
'Okay, I should stop now,' he thought as he retreated his hand.
Not even a few seconds had passed, and his terrible sunburn had healed back to normal.
'Was that around 8 minutes until it was blistering?'
He had a hunch that this weakness would get worse the stronger he became as a vampire.
*GURGLE*
And it seemed that his rapid healing consumed a lot of energy, which made him even hungrier.
'Do I need to drink blood as well, or can I eat normally?'
Whatever the outcome was, he still needed to hunt.
Thankfully, his great senses and powerful new body could easily detect the small rodents hiding in the area.
****
'Dinner is served!'
After around half an hour of hunting, he organized his game.
Two squirrels, a whole family of rabbits, and a single rat.
He hunted them by bashing them with a rock.
'I guess I should start cooking.'
He had also collected a bunch of dry wood to start a fire.
But because he only knew how to start a fire from watching survival documentaries ages ago, he spent way more time trying to start it.
After what seemed like an hour, a small flame finally started.
'Who knew it was this hard to start a damn fire....'
After skinning a rabbit with a sharp rock and removing its entrails, he began roasting the dead little fella.
"That kinda smells good...." he muttered whilst salivating.
After a few minutes, it seemed done.
'Welp, here goes nothing....'
Biting into the meat, he tasted the gameyness of it.
'Although my cooking sucks right now, it seems that I can still eat as normal,' he thought.
There was a lack of seasoning and preparation, but it was still cooked meat nonetheless.
After finishing it, he felt that his hunger was barely satisfied.
