Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Hub world (1)

Theodore stood in the brightly lit, minimalist Hub world.

This wasn't a game menu; this was his true reality—a specialized, stable, and self-contained space where he managed his multiversal exploits.

"Alright, ladies, welcome to the official headquarters!"

Theodore announced, gesturing around the space. It was sleek, modern, and utterly devoid of the clutter of the Resident Evil village.

"This place is real, no game. It's my home base for jumping between dimensions."

Alcina, Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela blinked, adjusting to the sudden, overwhelming change.

They were dressed in simple, comfortable clothes, their imposing height now simply impressive.

Alcina looked around, her amber eyes searching the seamless white space.

"This reality... it allows for travel between worlds? And it defies the laws of the universe we just left?"

"Pretty much,"

Theodore confirmed with a shrug.

"Look, before we go to my hometown, which is basically just the local area of this world, I want you guys to meet someone."

He gestured to a nearby figure.

Queen Marika the Eternal, the fractured deity from the Elden Ring, stepped forward.

Theodore had convinced her to join him after completing the Lands Between.

"Ladies, this is Goddess Marika. Goddess Marika, the Dimitrescu family—Alcina, Bela, Cassandra, Daniela. They just got the 'true ending' and are joining the party."

Marika offered a soft, gentle smile.

"Welcome, daughters of the former Lady Miranda. This space is a constant; the only place where the constraints of other realities do not bind us. You are truly safe here."

Bela, the most curious, stepped toward Marika.

"We were told we would lose our powers. If this is your reality, does your power remain?"

Marika touched her own chest.

"My power remains only as a memory—a potential to be accessed when returning to the Lands Between. Here, I am simply a woman of immense knowledge, nothing more. And you, my dears, are simply women."

Cassandra touched her own arm.

"I feel so... light. I can't even feel the urge to bite anyone."

"Exactly! No more gross mold body!"

Theodore cut in excitedly.

"You're totally organic now! You're going to experience all the cool, stupid stuff normal people deal with—like hunger, needing sleep, and not being able to punch through concrete walls. But… eh… we are immortal though…"

Basically, they could not die of old age or be killed.

Alcina watched the interaction. She wasn't surprised about being immortal.

Crossing worlds was much more than being immortal that she used to be.

"And your 'hometown'—the place with the fast carriages and peculiar food—is located within this reality?"

Theodore's face lit up.

"Yeah, my hometown is just outside the Hub's localized access point. It's got phones, cars, food that comes in bags, no magic, no curses, and absolutely no giant fungi. Just... people. And pizza. Seriously, the pizza is the best part."

Marika interjected gently,

"His local area is defined by technology, not magic. It is chaotic, bewildering, and utterly unique. I believe you will find the simplicity of true mortality a tremendous relief."

"So, we're doing the real world next?"

Theodore asked, looking at the sisters for confirmation.

Alcina felt a simple, profound joy.

"Yes, Theodore,"

She confirmed, a fierce determination in her voice.

"Lead us to this new world. We are ready to begin life."

Theodore pulled up his localized access interface, selecting the map for his immediate surroundings. He turned to Marika.

"Marika, are you coming along for the first few weeks? The girls are going to need some serious coaching on the difference between a microwave and a magic circle. You're better at explaining things than I am."

Marika smiled, accepting the role of cultural ambassador.

"It would be my pleasure. The transition from survival horror to real-world social protocol is often... jarring. I will assist with etiquette."

"Awesome. Next stop: My Hometown. Prepare for culture shock, ladies. It's gonna be a blast!"

Theodore selected his access point, and the white light of the Hub began to coalesce into the colorful, bustling scenery of a modern city.

The Dimitrescu family stood in stunned silence.

Alcina stared at the perfectly green, uniform lawn.

"This... 'grass'... it is without purpose? No hunting? No cultivation?"

Bela shrieked when a loud, rumbling sound passed by.

It was a mundane garbage truck.

"What beast is that?! It consumes the detritus of the village?!"

Cassandra reached for a small, colorful plastic ball left on the lawn.

She pressed it, and it made a squeaking sound. She nearly dropped it in shock.

"It speaks!"

Daniela immediately zeroed in on the neighbors' trampoline.

"The humans here possess a ritual device for aerial acrobatics!"

She started to run towards it before Theodore grabbed her arm.

"These 'cars'... they move without beast or spirit? How do they not fly apart?"

Marika, having spent some time acclimatizing herself, took the lead in translating the bewildering new reality.

"Ladies, observe,"

Marika began, pointing to a nearby house.

"These structures are called 'houses.' They are personal dwellings, not castles or fortresses. They are typically occupied by single 'families,' not retinues of servants or Lycans."

She then held up Theodore's smartphone.

"This device, a 'phone,' is a primary tool for communication. It allows one to speak with others across vast distances. However, do not mistake it for a magic scroll or a curse-casting artifact. It merely transmits sound and images."

"And that large, wheeled contraption,"

Marika pointed to a passing SUV,

"Is a 'car.' It is a primary mode of transportation. It runs on a combustible liquid, not by magic or animal power. You must learn to observe traffic patterns, lest you be flattened."

Theodore, meanwhile, was holding back laughter as Daniela tried to pet the garbage can.

"Okay, okay, settle down, everyone!"

Theodore finally managed.

"First things first, we need to get you guys some proper clothes that don't look like they're from, like, a gothic horror convention. And then... pizza."
