The campus was buzzing the moment i came down from the taxi, music blasted, suitcase rolled and a guy was shouting" who stole my mattress?" .I held my backpack like it was a life rift
I dodged a flying bag to avoid a full- on print on my face "ok first day don't embarrass me",I muttered
"Heads up!" a girl yelled sprinting pass. Carrying lot of boxes that her humanly impossible to carry . crash!, one hit the pavement. I barely ducked in time.
I finally made it to the dorm hallway and froze . Someone was leaning on the door frame calm as a cat in the Sunbeam smirking like they'd been expecting this all along.
Just one tiny look, one tiny pause, and suddenly my heart started to join the chaos.

The hallway smells like new paint and stress, people walking around screaming room number like it's an auction
I squeezed my way pass a mountain of luggage and finally saw my room - Room 214 i walked to the door using my key to open the door. My keycard refused to work the first two times ,because it eventually did

I tried again and the door swung open tired of fighting with me
Inside was absolute chaos: than the one i meet outside
Half open suitcase, clothes hanging everywhere around the room and a box labelled DON'T TOUCH already opened on the bed
And that's when a voice behind me said , "you must be my new roommate".
I turned around like it was some scary and saw the calm door frame person from earlier still wearing a tiny smirk
Behold the smirker is my roommate.
I stood near the door frame like some lost USB cord.
The smirker pushed the doorframe and walked in, brushing a stray curl behind her ear.
"Wow", she said,What a pile of boxes,move- in day really chewed you and spat you out huh?
Yeah ,i muttered kicking a suitcase out of my way,"it been....a lot".
She laughed softly_ the kind of laugh that sounded like she already knows this semester would be filled with disaster.
"I'm sasha" by the way she said stretching her hand for an handshake.
I wiped my hands on my jeans because of sweat and shook her hand like a normal person.
" That's a nice name i guess"i said uh... you seemed calm out there "
"I wasn't calm i just accepted my fate",she said as she walked to the bed and picked her DO NOT TOUCH box.
"Pick a bed before someone else comes" she informed.
I pick that one pointing at the one close to the window.
"Window child" ,she teased.
I organized my room, unpack and arranged my bed
"You've not mentioned your name",Sasha said.
"Oh that's true"i said. "Hmmm I'm Elara" i said.
"Where you trying to remember your name",shasa said.
I laughed softly" i was just trying to make it sound organized" ,i said and we both laughed.
Move-in day is so stressful i said as i lay down on the bed.
