Chapter 61 - My boss told me you

Since her landlord is no hope, Jennie takes it upon herself and goes online to research the best plumbing services in the area. She reads every positive review and terrible complaint to see which company appeals to her. Many of them provide excellent service and get the job done, with hardly any negative feedback except for those complaining about the plumbers taking too much time. She rolls her eyes at that. Not everything can be done in the blink of an eye, as much as she wants it to.

Jennie spins the wheel and selects a random plumbing company. This one seems trustworthy, and it has a lot of five-star reviews with the best customer satisfaction. She dials their phone number and hears the call ring for a couple of beats before they pick up on the spot.

"Hello! Thank you for calling [L/N]'s Elite Plumbers. How may I help you?"

"Um, hi." Jennie quickly clears her throat. "I have a leaking pipe in my kitchen sink. It's been like this for the past few days. Can you send someone over to fix it?"

"Yes, of course! Is it urgent? Or would you like to set the appointment for another day?"

"It would be great if you could come by later today."

"Perfect. Just tell me your location, and I'll send one of my employees over shortly."

"That's perfect, thank you."

"You're very welcome! It's a pleasure helping you."

Before she hangs up, Jennie provides them the house's address and necessary information.

She has time to clean the house and make it look presentable before the plumber arrives.

Soon enough, the doorbell rings.

That must be the plumber…

When she opened the door, she expected a middle-aged man with a big gut and a thick beard.

However, she meets one of the prettiest women she has ever seen. The first thing she notices are her [e/c] eyes.

"Hello, ma'am," the woman greets in a low, husky voice.

Jennie can only blink her eyes in silence. The woman is far younger and prettier than she had expected. Her [h/c] hair is tied back in a low ponytail, and her straight bangs frame her face, shadowed by the baseball cap. She wears a fitted white t-shirt and dark-washed, worn jeans. A utility belt is strapped to her hips, and a heavy toolbox is held by her slender hand.

And good lord, she is tall.

Taller than her husband.

She's not the maintenance person, is she?

She's too pretty for this job.

"My boss told me you had a broken faucet," she informs. The deep timbre of her voice sends shivers down Jennie's spine. Her [e/c] eyes narrow at the shorter woman for her long silence. "You're Kim Jennie, right?"

No way.
