Chapter 12 — That Day, I Finally Hugged My Ancestor!

"This is the new batch of soul spirits. Please begin recovery."

From the steward of Eastsea City came rows upon rows of spherical containers, each holding a stored soul spirit.

Even the manager from Aolai City didn't expect that the Tower Master of Eastsea City would still remember their little branch and send them new spirits. Ecstatic, he bowed repeatedly in gratitude.

"You're just in luck," the manager told Tang Wulin. "Eastsea sent us new spirits, and I'm in a good mood today—go take a look. Maybe there's one willing to form a contract with you."

Tang Wulin's eyes brightened. "Really? That's great!"

And indeed—it was.

Because among them was the spirit Jiang Chen had forged from part of the Golden Dragon Spear and one of Di Tian's reverse scales.

The Golden Night Dragon!

It had lost the ultimate light of the Golden Dragon and gained a trace of Di Tian's dark attributes.

After all, the Golden Dragon Spear's residual essence alone couldn't create a functioning soul spirit. Jiang Chen had nearly been skewered by Di Tian's Dragon God Claw just to pull that single reverse scale.

This soul spirit existed specifically for Tang Wulin.

If the Silver Dragon King could split into two, then so could the Golden Dragon King.

Jiang Chen couldn't stop Tang Wulin from growing, but he could prevent him from becoming a complete Golden Dragon King.

So he used the Spear's ability to absorb life to siphon part of Wulin's golden bloodline—splitting it once more.

Later, he could reunite the Spear and boy into one terrifying weapon.

Long ago, Tang San had divided his daughter's divine consciousness into two halves—the main one being Wang Dong of the Clear Sky Sect, and another sealed within the Golden Dragon Spear.

When the Auspicious Beast had glimpsed Huo Yuhao's Eye of Destiny, it sensed the simulation of a Golden Dragon bloodline through his faith and blood resonance.

At that moment, Tang San infused part of Tang Wutong's soul, along with the Golden Dragon Spear, into the Auspicious Beast.

But after the sacrifice, the Spear vanished.

Tang San himself had descended to the mortal realm searching for it—without success. Though merely an artifact, the Spear could absorb life to strengthen its wielder and contained nine seals rumored to hold fragments of the Dragon God's essence.

It had simply disappeared.

Tang San had vented his fury on Huo Yuhao, claiming it was his recklessness that let such an artifact be lost. He couldn't blame his daughter, so Yuhao took the fall.

Now, the moment the Golden Night Dragon sensed Tang Wulin, it pounced and hugged him tightly, refusing to let go.

Because it had found—its ancestor.

"Ancestor, you're bullying me again!"

At a forge, Huo Yuner lifted her heavy hammer, her tiger ears drooping under martial soul possession.

She'd been hammering metal since she was six.

She really didn't want to grow into a muscular woman!

At her age, most girls matured gracefully—but not her. Jiang Chen sighed. She already stood taller than him now. For a brief second, he even considered "accelerating" his own growth… but quickly dismissed the idea.

Becoming a god was still the priority. Every moment mattered in the path of a soul beast reborn as human.

Three years later, his cultivation level lagged far behind Huo Yuner's.

"Ancestor, if you want battle armor, the clan can have some made for you," she panted. "You don't need me to forge it!"

She feared that if her workmanship cracked in combat, she'd be executed by the clan elders.

"I'm training your body," Jiang Chen insisted. "The Three-Eyed White Tiger requires balanced growth of strength and mind!"

"This hammer technique—I begged it from the Clear Sky Sect. The Chaotic Cloak Hammer Technique!"

"In the day you train your body, at night your spirit! Even without me, you'd still become an Ultimate Douluo!"

Though he couldn't be her soul spirit, his title as the ancestral elder still hung over the clan. The successor's destiny was to reach Ultimate Douluo without fail.

If Huo Yuner failed, it would stain his name.

Outsiders assumed she already had him as her spirit. If she didn't reach the peak, who else would take the blame?

"You have to understand, little Yuner," he said solemnly, "I'm doing this for your own good."

"You can't fall behind! What would our ancestors think if the thirty-fifth generation elder failed to reach the Ultimate Douluo level?"

"How would you face the ancestral tablets in Jiuquan?"

"Work hard now, or you'll regret it later!"

Huo Yuner's eyes welled up miserably. Ancestor, if you actually picked up a hammer and forged beside me—instead of lounging on the couch watching dramas and eating chips—I might believe you.

She sniffled.

She really didn't want to be successor.

Why had all thirty-four elders before her been men—but this time, they'd chosen her?

And without even forging a spirit bond with their ancestor!

Unfair. Completely unfair!

Meanwhile, in another corner of Shrek City stood an eighty-one-story spire.

The headquarters of the Spirit Transmission Tower.

From its top floor, one could glimpse the ancient Tree of Life rooted in Shrek's inner academy.

Inside, a black-haired girl with refined features and a cold, otherworldly aura sat at a desk, her dark eyes faintly glowing violet.

The true body of the Silver Dragon King—Gu Yue.

She held a file in her pale hand.

"Jiang Chen, martial soul: Dark Demon Evil God Tiger. Innate full soul power."

"So he's the one Di Tian called the 'Light of the Soul Beasts'?"

"The so-called soul beast who 'survives by parasitizing humanity'?"

"How laughable. Trapped as a soulless shade, enslaved to bolster human strength—this is called soul beast revival?"

She had split part of her consciousness precisely to experience the human world herself, to plan the rise of soul beasts firsthand.

Di Tian had praised Jiang Chen one too many times.

But Di Tian was a dragon—not a tiger.

I am your true lord, Di Tian. Know your place.

She couldn't say it aloud, but she silently seethed at his loyalty.

The Silver Dragon King possessed the complete intellect of the Dragon God. Her goal was clear: to annihilate humanity and make soul beasts the rightful rulers of the continent.

"And now he's gone and rebuilt himself as human," she sneered. "A traitor to his own kind."

"Gu Yue, what are you mumbling about?"

The voice came from a tall, red-haired woman—her mentor—who had just finished a meeting.

Seeing her student lost in thought over that file, she walked over. After glimpsing the name and martial soul on the document, her expression shifted to shock.

"Wait… the Huo Clan actually did it? Those lunatics!"

As one of the Tower's deputy masters, she knew certain secrets.

With humans and soul beasts growing closer, humanity could no longer openly exploit soul beasts… so they'd started targeting their bloodlines.

And there was precedent.

The Yuanen family—a lineage born from union with the Titan Giant Ape.

Through that inherited divine martial soul, they'd become one of the Federation's most powerful families.

Naturally, humanity's greed had spread further.

Now… even Di Tian's bloodline had drawn their attention.
