Chapter 7 - Chapter 6 King Uther

"Alright," Kayal nodded, accepting the temptation. In an era where inflammation meant no penicillin, and a viral cold could be fatal, what could be more reassuring than possessing a life-saving healing spell?

Even if not for himself, his parents were getting old. If they got sick, traditional Chinese medicine would be too slow, and their resistance wouldn't last that long.

"Alright, I'll teach you. Whether you can learn it is up to you." She waved her hand, seemingly very doubtful that Kayal could learn healing magic.

Kayal shook his head. He was happy to accept new knowledge. Could he learn it?

Such a question held no meaning for Kayal.

Merlin herself didn't know healing magic. According to her, her magic leaned more towards alchemy and pharmacy. She didn't personally know healing and auxiliary magic; she was simply teaching Kayal based on the knowledge in her mind.

It was like a physics teacher couldn't build an atomic bomb, or a chemistry teacher couldn't produce penicillin. Merlin could teach but not perform, which was logical.

However... "My heavens, it's only been two hours." Looking at Kayal, whose hands were constantly flashing with magic circles, Merlin felt that the years she had spent learning magic before had been a complete waste!

However, Kayal's next action sent shivers down her spine. Kayal picked up the dagger that had fallen to the ground and, without hesitation, cut his fair wrist. Blood immediately gushed out, dripping from Kayal's hand onto the floor.

"You're crazy!" Watching Kayal treat himself with the still-unskilled, flickering healing magic, Merlin just felt that he had gone mad.

Under the treatment of the still-immature healing magic, Kayal's wound slowly healed, eventually becoming a pale red line—newly grown muscle.

Nodding slightly, Kayal looked up: "Very good. It healed a wound that would take days in just a few seconds. I wonder if the principle is to promote super-fast cell metabolism near the wound, or if it's direct time reversal, or..." In an instant, seven or eight conjectures were put forward by Kayal. Kayal had been carefully observing Merlin from the corner of his eye. Merlin showed no reaction whether he mentioned "cells" or "metabolism." Kayal, who had guessed Merlin was from another world, couldn't help but feel relieved.

"But there are also drawbacks. I don't know how effective it is for internal illnesses," Kayal said, shaking his head, dampening the spirits of a triumphant Merlin.

"Internal illnesses? Can the body get sick internally?" Merlin asked, surprised.

The current world's understanding of illness was still limited to external injuries. Headaches, fevers, and chills were all believed to be demonic possession, warranting direct burning. Of course, even if not burned, there was a lack of medicine to recover, but burning could prevent contagion. Kayal, not yet in power, couldn't directly interfere with such customs, but now with this healing magic as a basis, there might be many things he could do... Kayal's mind raced.

"Don't get too happy! These are just basic healing spells. Later, there will be auxiliary, defensive, and even spells that can revive someone a few minutes after death!" Merlin, unwilling to be overshadowed by Kayal, seductively enticed him.

"Reviving the dead, defying the natural order, I despise it," Kayal said with disdain. Resurrecting the dead was inherently an act against the natural order. Rivers dried up but revived with rain; forests were cut down but revived with sprouts; people died but revived through infants. To truly reverse this kind of revival would inevitably come at the cost of having no descendants, an act against the natural order that would never be permitted.

"Alright, alright! It's not good to get arrogant before reaching that point. Let's stop here for today. Your knight must be getting impatient." The two had been up there for three hours. If Leyton hadn't known that Kayal forgot the time when writing, he would have already climbed up in his heavy armor to find him.

"Because of you, I haven't written a single word today, sigh." Kayal complained to Merlin, then turned and asked, "I see you're quite intelligent. Are you willing to come to Red Leaf Ridge and assist my father, Andre etoque, in governing this land?"

"Hahahahaha..." Merlin covered her mouth and laughed loudly. "That clumsy bear Andre isn't worth my allegiance. I already have a liege. If you inherit Red Leaf Ridge in ten years, I might come to help you, who knows."

Kayal looked disdainful and turned his head away.

I'm going to use your words and identity to convey my will. In ten years, when I'm thirteen, I'll slowly accumulate prestige and take charge of Red Leaf Ridge. What would I need you for then?

Shaking his head slightly, he said, "Then let's stop here for today. I'm leaving."

"Then I'll live in your little house and wait for you. Don't worry, I won't damage any of your things. I can tell they're all very useful. But can you tell me what that set of things you made as soon as you came up was? An ordinary person's bones should have broken by now, right?" Knowing very well what Kayal cared about most in his wooden house, after reassuring Kayal, she still couldn't help her curiosity. Seeing Kayal about to descend, Merlin still asked.

As she said, if it were an ordinary person, their bones would probably have broken. Kayal performed the action effortlessly; it was simply too incredible.

"There's a lot about me you don't understand." Kayal smiled faintly at Merlin, and with a gentle shake of the rope in his hand, the silver bell connected to the top of the roof emitted a clear sound that traveled far.

Immediately, Kayal, sitting in the lift basket, slowly descended. Standing still for a long time, Merlin suddenly broke into a radiant smile: "Kailar Etolk...? How interesting. He's only three years old! This astuteness, this wit, this composure, this courage... it's incredible! Truly incredible! If this child were to join the army, he would surely be the one to bring chaos to the world! If this child sought power, he would surely be the one to conquer the world! Interesting! Interesting! I want to see how far this little monster can grow!!

On the way back.

"Leyton..." Kayal sat on his horse, looking sullen.

"What's wrong, Young Master?" Leyton asked, lowering his head in surprise. His magical warhorse, a hybrid, was about two meters tall and weighed an estimated ton. Even his own pony, though a magical horse, was only about 1.5 meters tall due to its youth, so Leyton naturally had to lower his head to look at him.

"Do you know about magic?" Kayal asked tentatively.

"No, I don't believe in that astrologer stuff," Leyton flatly refused.

"However..." Leyton hesitated, "King Uther is said to have a magician by his side who isn't an astrologer. I think his name is..."

"What?" Kayal's eyes lit up.

"Merlin... right?" Leyton said.

Little did Leyton know, Kayal's heart was not churning with a storm because of Merlin, but because of one person's name — King Uther, King Uther Pendragon of Camelot!

He might not be famous in history, but his son was a renowned king in the history of Britain — King Arthur!
