Chapter 125 - The Stage

Westbridge had never looked this alive.

By morning, the entire campus felt electric.

Students filled the walkways in groups. Visitors from other universities moved through the halls wearing delegate badges. Cameras and student media teams set up outside the auditorium.

The Westbridge Leadership Summit had officially begun.

And everyone was waiting for one thing.

The debate.

Anaya walked through the corridor toward the auditorium, her steps steady.

Not rushed.

Not hesitant.

Just focused.

Aarav walked beside her, holding two coffee cups.

"You realize the auditorium is already full."

"That's early."

"It's Westbridge," he said. "People enjoy intellectual bloodsport."

She took the coffee without smiling.

Inside the auditorium, the stage lights were already on.

A long table had been placed in the center with three seats.

One moderator.

Two debaters.

Across the front rows sat visiting faculty and guest delegates.

Behind them—

Hundreds of students.

The quiet buzz of anticipation filled the room.

Backstage, he adjusted his jacket calmly.

The mischievous one leaned against the wall nearby.

"You're about to debate the most stubborn person on campus."

"I'm aware."

"You excited?"

"No."

"You look like you are."

He didn't answer.

Across the room, Anaya stepped inside.

Their eyes met immediately.

Not dramatic.

Just recognition.

A moment passed.

Then she said—

"You look too calm."

"You look ready to win."

"Of course I am."

He almost smiled.

Outside on the balcony above the auditorium, Kiara stood watching the stage below.

Perfect angle.

Perfect timing.

Her assistant approached.

"Everything is ready."

"Yes."

"The debate topic is trending already."

"Good."

She rested her hands lightly on the railing.

"Westbridge loves decisive moments."

"And today?"

"Today we'll see exactly who the campus believes in."

But she wasn't watching the crowd.

She was watching them.

Because this debate wasn't about policy anymore.

It was about perception.

And perception shaped power.

Back inside the auditorium, the moderator stepped onto the stage.

The room quieted instantly.

"Welcome to the Westbridge Leadership Summit Debate."

Applause filled the hall.

"Today's topic," the moderator continued,

'Leadership Authority vs Institutional Stability.'

A pause.

Then—

"Our speakers are two of Westbridge's most influential council members."

Students leaned forward.

Phones lifted.

Attention sharpened.

"Anaya."

Applause erupted.

"And—"

He stepped onto the stage beside her.

More applause.

The tension in the room was almost physical now.

They took their seats across from each other.

Neither spoke.

Neither looked away.

The moderator smiled.

"Let's begin."

And in that moment—

The rivalry that had shaped half the semester moved onto the biggest stage Westbridge had.

Where words mattered.

Where perception mattered.

Where one mistake could change everything.

Across the balcony, Kiara watched closely.

Because tonight—

Westbridge would decide which of them held real authority.

And which one only looked powerful.
