Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2 — The Strangest Team

The team assignment class at the Academy was thick with tension. Morning light filtered through dusty windows, reflecting off wooden desks littered with torn score sheets and dried ink. Murmurs of students mixed with the creak of chairs and awkward footsteps, mingling with the scent of paper, old dust, and the faint aroma of warm tea brought by a few students. Today wasn't just about team placement—it was, for many aspiring ninja, the true beginning of their shinobi journey.

In one corner, Katsuki Bakugo sat casually, hands tucked into his pockets, eyes sharp as they fixed on the door. His breath was steady, but beneath that calm, a fire was flickering. Every small movement in the classroom, every whisper, felt like a disturbance to his chakra waves. He scanned each student who dared to look at him, reading a mix of fear and curiosity. "Idiots… they don't even understand what true power is," Bakugo thought.

In another corner, Hana Uchiha sat upright, her expression unreadable as she studied Bakugo with icy focus. Her black hair was neatly combed, arms crossed, every movement deliberate. Hana noted every nuance: the position of Bakugo's hands, the tilt of his eyes, the rhythm of his breathing. In her mind, she analyzed, "Too loud… but maybe useful… if he can keep quiet for just a moment. Focus is more important than raw strength."

Meanwhile, Ren Takahashi stood in the center of the room, shoulders squared, eyes bright with energy. He observed his two soon-to-be teammates. In his mind, he considered their combination—wild, cold, and smart—and thought it might yield unexpected strategies. His smile remained calm, but every second he weighed their strengths and weaknesses. "If we can actually work together… this team could be something special."

Iruka-sensei unrolled the list with a loud voice. One by one, student names echoed through the room. Some cheered, some bowed in relief, others looked disappointed. The tapping of the wooden boards, the creaking of chairs, held breaths, and the rising dust created a charged, almost electric atmosphere.

Finally:

"Team 6: Hana Uchiha, Ren Takahashi, and Katsuki Bakugo."

Silence swallowed the classroom. Students exchanged glances; some stifled laughter, some looked disgusted, and a few lowered their heads, afraid to be part of the Academy's "craziest" team.

Bakugo shot to his feet, eyes blazing red, chest pounding. "WHAT?!" he bellowed, the sound reverberating until several students stepped back. "I'm… on a team with two people I don't even know?!"

Hana raised an eyebrow, her gaze icy. "I just found out too. And… speak more quietly. Your voice is unbearable."

Bakugo laughed, sharp and electric. "You dare tell me to shut up? Huh? Try me—see if I can stay quiet!"

Ren stepped forward, calm, voice soft but steady. "Hello. I'm Ren Takahashi. Nice to work with you."

Bakugo stared at him as if looking at a cold, unmovable stone. "I didn't come here to make friends."

Ren nodded. "Then don't get in the way."

The tension in the room thickened. Students held their breath, chairs squeaked, and windows trembled slightly under Bakugo's volatile aura. Tiny specks of dust danced in the sunlight streaming through the windows, adding a dramatic touch to the classroom's atmosphere.

Bakugo blinked, his mind already calculating strategy. "If they're too weak, I'll carry all the risk. But if they can handle it… hmm, maybe they'll be useful." His gaze swept to Hana, trying to read the Uchiha girl's intentions. "Just don't try to outshine me. Consider this a warning."

Hana assessed sharply, slightly trembling under Bakugo's intense presence. Yet she remained steadfast, tilting her head slightly. "Maybe this kid can be useful… if he can rein in his ego. But don't expect me to back down." Her voice was cold, but curiosity flickered in her mind: "He's brave… could be a real challenge."

Ren smiled faintly, observing both of them. "This might just be the most… interesting team I've ever had. Wild, smart, and adaptable." He imagined the combination of Bakugo and Hana's energy, thinking, "If I can balance them, this team could be more than just a group of students."

A student at the back whispered, eyes wide. "That team… is insane. They won't last five minutes without fighting."

Ren heard it, but his smile didn't falter. He knew conflict was inevitable—and perhaps, that conflict would be what pushed them to grow.

Iruka-sensei banged on the desk, voice firm but heavy. "Enough! You are officially one team. Learn to work together; it's the only way forward."

His words felt hollow to the three of them, as trust hadn't even begun to form. But at least… they were bound together now. And though the tension remained like a thin thread ready to snap, each of them began sensing a hidden possibility: that combining a wild streak, analytical precision, and adaptability could make them strong.

Bakugo stared out the window, his mind already racing toward training and upcoming battles. Hana closed her eyes briefly, weighing strategic possibilities. Ren took a deep breath, feeling the surge of energy born from these three contrasting personalities.

In that quiet yet tense classroom, a team was born—not ordinary, stubborn, and full of potential. A team that might change the way everyone perceives strength, cooperation, and controlled chaos.

Bakugo muttered under his breath, almost inaudibly: "This is just the beginning… they haven't seen what's coming yet."
