If anything, they had only grown closer. They'd been sneaking around together for years — long before Mr. Silverwynd realized there was anything to worry about.
Elian's gaze drifted toward the garden, where Jamie was laughing with Holland and the others.
"So…" he said quietly, "…I've accepted my fate."
Nicholas raised an eyebrow.
"I want Jamie." There wasn't even a hint of hesitation in his voice. "I can't imagine my life without him." A small smile tugged at his lips. "He's been there for almost my entire life."
He looked back at his friends. "So… I don't really care what his grandparents think of me anymore." He shrugged. "I love Jamie. I want to marry Jamie. Not his grandparents."
Nicholas immediately started clapping. "What a beautiful speech."
Elian deadpanned. "Fuck off."
Kasteil couldn't help smiling. "So when are you proposing?"
"The moment this lawsuit is over."
His smile disappeared almost instantly.
Nicholas sighed. "Ah… right. How's the case going?"
