"...There's an entire facility here."
Silence answered him. The weight of those words hung in the air, pressing down on everyone in the operations room. Officers froze mid-motion, their eyes fixed on the speakers as if they could somehow see through the radio waves.
Then Nicholas's voice came over the radio, sharp and commanding.
"Don't move."
"We won't."
"Keep your distance and maintain visual surveillance. Reinforcements are already on the way. Do not engage under any circumstances."
"Understood."
Ezekiel lowered the radio, his fingers still wrapped around the cool metal. He took a steadying breath before looking back toward the massive building that loomed through the trees. His heart was pounding, the adrenaline coursing through his veins.
The place was far larger than any of them had imagined. From their vantage point, it stretched across the clearing. It was easily three stories tall, with a sprawling footprint that suggested dozens of rooms, perhaps even hundreds.
