I looked at them, at their serious faces, at the way they were all nodding in agreement. They really believed this. They really thought Kastiel was scary.
"Well," I said slowly, "he's an Alpha King. He has to be scary, doesn't he? Would you want him to be all soft instead? Would that make him a good leader?"
Phoenix opened his mouth, then closed it. He looked at Jamie. Jamie looked at Soren. Soren looked at me.
"So," Phoenix said, a grin spreading across his face, "you do agree he's scary."
I felt my face heat up. "I never said that."
"You just said he has to be scary," Jamie pointed out. "Which means you think he is scary."
"I said he has to be scary. As in, it's required for his position. That doesn't mean I think he personally is scary." I crossed my arms. "I think he's perfectly capable of being soft when the situation calls for it."
The three of them exchanged glances. Then they all started laughing again.
"What?" I demanded.
